Our AMAZING 10/13/13 Wedding UPDATED WITH PROFESSIONAL PICS - Thatched Cottage, Lighthouse, After Hours, AMDA, Jessica Leigh Paperie, and so much more!

Advice: You can’t make everyone happy, so focus on who you can and should be making happy – your FH & yourself! People are always going to say things or disappoint you, and you just have to let it roll off your back (or at least try your best). I let people stress me out too much (bad habit of mine to begin with that pretty much exploded during wedding planning, especially towards the end), and it made certain things not as fun as they should have been. It’s about you and your FH, always remember that!

Proposal: Borgata, Atlantic City: A+
On Thanksgiving Eve, we went to Borgata in Atlantic City for, what I thought, was dinner and a comedy show. During dinner, DH seemed really anxious and kept getting up. I wondered what his deal was, but didn’t press for details. After getting up for the second time, DH looked relieved. About a minute later, a worker at the restaurant brought over a huge bouquet of roses in a vase and a small, 2 rose bouquet. After dinner, DH said he wanted to put his suit jacket in the room before we headed to the comedy show. When we got upstairs, the room was covered in rose petals and there was Reisling (my favorite wine) and champagne. I turned around to see DH on one knee, asking me to marry him. I cried like a complete baby and we couldn’t get the ring on because we were both shaking so much! The whole thing was perfect, I couldn’t have asked for better.

Engagement Ring: JCPenney’s (Roosevelt Field Mall) The Modern Bride Collection
Ring itself: A+, Dealing with The Modern Bride: B-
The ring DH picked out was PERFECT for me. It is simple with a vintage feel. A few months after the proposal, I realized that it looked like there was a chunk taken out of the box setting of my ring. DH brought it back to the store and asked them to send it to the company to have it fixed (since he had insurance on it). I was without my engagement ring for over 3 weeks, which was horrible. I actually started wearing my great aunt’s engagement ring so people didn’t ask if we had broken up (I DID have several people ask me this). When DH finally brought my ring home, I was so excited, until I opened the box. As soon as I opened the box, I noticed that it had not been fixed at all. The chunk was still missing and my diamonds were still not laying flat. We went back to the store the next day, and they said that the company said there was nothing else they could do, unless we wanted to exchange it for a different ring. They had put one aside for me, but the price difference was over $700 less! Obviously it was not the same quality ring DH had bought originally. Luckily, DH forgot his receipt so they would not exchange it that day. When he went back, they had a ring that was the same as my original ring, and only $50 cheaper, so you knew it was the same quality (you could just tell by looking at the rings). In the end, I got a ring that was almost exactly the same as the one he proposed with. They store tried to help us out as best they could, and I truly appreciate that. I just wish I had been able to have my original ring fixed.

Wedding Bands (rings): Harrels in Brentwood: A
This has been my family’s jeweler for as long as I can remember, so I knew this was where I wanted to get our wedding rings from. I went in to ask the jeweler something one day with my mother and decided to look at rings while I was there. Due to the setting of my engagement ring, no wedding band would lay flat. I don’t like the rings that have the cut-out for the setting, so those were out of the question. I hadn’t seen anything I liked and was about to leave when my mother called me back. There was a beautiful white gold band with a slight, vintage-y pattern on it. I tried it on and fell in love! I asked the jeweler to order it, but the company that made it no longer existed. Luckily, since losing weight, it fit perfectly! So I put that on hold for me, and brought DH back a few weeks later and he found a carbon fiber and titanium wedding band that he liked. We got the rings engraved for each other. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would highly recommend them.

Save the Dates: magnetstreet.com: A-
We ordered Save the Date magnets from here. The color and clarity in the proof was slightly different than what we received, which was a little disappointing. The color was lighter in the proof than the actual Save the Date, which was fine, since our main color was navy and the proof was a little lighter than I wanted. Our smaller picture on our magnet was a little grainy, not too bad, but I would have liked them to be a little clearer. They were created and shipped quickly, and I had found a coupon online for 20% off. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would recommend the website.

Bridal Shower: Maxwell’s (Lessings) in Islip: A
The food, drinks, and atmosphere were all amazing. The place was beautiful and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Registry:
Bed, Bath, and Beyond: A
No problems with the registry at all. It was easy to use and people found it easy to purchase from. My cousins had purchased me a knife block from there, but it was not the one I had on the registry so I brought it back. There weren’t any problems with returns at all; they even gave me cash for the returned items.
Kohl’s: B
There had been some issues with this registry in the beginning. I had noticed that when I was changing things that the prices weren’t showing up and that if I clicked on one item it would bring me to something totally different (not on my registry). I emailed Kohl’s to let them know and they told me I had to enable my cookies on my computer (uhm, that was NOT the problem).
Other than that, they were pleasant. I had a few things to return (one was damaged) and they did not give me a hard time.

Bridal Shower Thank You’s: Vistaprint: A
I purchased thank you cards and envelope stickers from vistaprint (I had a spend $20 and get an $80 groupon). The thank you cards and stickers were beautiful, but they were delivered a week early (usually a plus) in the POURING rain. The box was soaked completely through. The cards were fine, but the stickers were not in a plastic sleeve/envelope, so one entire set of stickers was ruined. I contacted vistaprint right away, and they sent me replacement stickers for free the following day.
A few months before my shower, my mother ordered my invitations, as well as matching thank you cards. They arrived without any problems and were beautiful. So the thank you cards I had already purchased were not used for my shower, but they have DH & my initials on them, so we can always use them for other things.

Bachelorette Party: Wine Tasting Tours; A
I had said I wanted a low key bachelorette party since I’m not into the club thing. My MOH set this up (I don’t know what company she used) and did a great job. We went to three vineyards (Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard – MY FAVORITE, Pugliese, and Vineyard48) and got four/five tastings at each. Our limo driver was amazing and super accommodating. Overall it was a great time.

Rehearsal Dinner: Captain Bill’s: A
DH’s parents set-up the rehearsal dinner and did a wonderful job! The food was fantastic and plentiful, and the staff was great when I asked to bring in a bottle of champagne (Thatched Cottage gave us a bottle of their house champagne when we went for our one year tour and we saved it to share with our bridal party). My only complaint was that the staff was a little slow. When we got there, they only took half of our drinks orders then disappeared for a good 15 minutes – after our rehearsal went so poorly, I NEEDED that glass of wine ASAP lol.

Groom’s Cake: Rolling Pin Bakery: A+
A friend of my mother’s was supposed to make the cake as a surprise for DH, but dropped out a week before my wedding due to other commitments. I quickly emailed Rolling Pin and they responded within a day. I went to pick it up right before our rehearsal, and as I walked in, the girl behind the counter like screamed “ARE YOU THE BATMAN CAKE?!?!” Lol. It was nice to see that they were so excited about the cake. DH was completely surprised and loved his cake (chocolate cake with canoli cream and chocolate chips inside). My only complaint was when I picked it up, it wasn’t in a box. They said they didn’t have one big enough for the cake (to feed 20 people). But it ended up making it to Captain Bill’s in one piece and that’s all that mattered to me!

Bridesmaid Presents:
Bridesmaid Cards: Etsy: GabrielleKearney A
These came out super cute! I was looking for a card that was different and special, and these fit the bill. Shipping was fast and easy, and there wasn’t a single problem.

Canvas Bags by Vistaprint: A
I had received an email from vistaprint when they were having a sale, so decided to check it out. I found large canvas bags that I could get personalized. So I ordered one for each of my girls, my MIL, mother, and myself, and had them personalized with our names on the back in navy. Shipping was quick and the whole process was pretty easy.

DOJ by treasures 570 (etsy): A+
I couldn’t have asked for more from this etsy vendor! She did my DOJ, which I loved, so I knew I wanted her to make the jewelry for my girls. When I received the jewelry, I was blown away – everything was even prettier in person. She custom made a bracelet for my MOH (as a little something extra for her), that mimicked my bracelet but with a charm to match her earrings. Shipping was quick and payment was easy. I would HIGHLY recommend this vendor.

Acrylic Tumblers by LylaBugDesigns (etsy): A+
These came out super cute and I’m so happy that I ordered them. They were exactly what I wanted and we used them the morning of the wedding. I used mine at the wedding ALL night so I wouldn’t spill anything on my dress.

Personalized Wedding Hangers by bridalcutehangers (etsy): A+
I ordered one for each of my bridesmaids and myself. Seller was great and I received the hangers in less than two weeks. They were beautifully made and the seller was easy to communicate with.

Dictionary Bouquet Charms by KristinVictoria (etsy): A+
All my girls had the same bouquet, so I wanted a charm to make each stand out. Originally I was going to do their initials, but I came across these on etsy and couldn’t resist! I’m a giant book worm (my user name on the website DH and I met on was open book worm) and thought these were so cute and different. I picked what I wanted on the dictionary charm and added a charm to match each girl (sunflower, fleur de lis, and treble clef). Seller was quick to respond and I received a small discount due to ordering in bulk.

Zip-Up Sweatshirts: Sweatshirt by Walmart: A+
Rhinestone Letters: Kaisercraft (amazon): A

Shipping on these sweatshirts was incredibly fast and easy. I wanted to get the girls sweatshirts for the morning of the wedding without spending a ton of money. These cost $9 each and were soft and comfy. I purchased rhinestone letters through amazon that adhered to the sweatshirts. They were cute and easy.

Parent Presents:
Card: MDCardsandGifts (etsy): A
The cards were very cute and creative. Shipping was fast and easy; the cards came in good condition.

MOB & MOG Personalized Tumblers: LylaBugDesigns (etsy) A
Fast shipping and beautiful products.

MOB & MOG Hangers: Alma's Creations (etsy) A-
The hangers were very nice, but the wire was a little flimsy. Also, when I received them, the wires were taped in place (also put in the holes), which looked very odd and I was afraid to pull the tape off.

Custom Frame for FOB: YourPictureStory (etsy) A
This was an absolutely beautiful frame and worth every penny. The seller does not make your frame until you approve the proof she sent you. I had to have had 3 – 4 proofs because I kept changing my mind, and she was always very pleasant to work with.

Groomsmen Gift:
DH bought each guy a superhero shirt (different websites). They were very cute and made for good pictures.

Groom Present:
Card: TwigLily (etsy): A
I was looking for a card that fit what I wanted for DH, but was having difficulty. I came across this card and knew it was perfect. Shipping was fast and easy; the card came in good condition.

DC Batman Cufflinks (amazon): A
These cufflinks were exactly what I was looking for. My DH is a HUGE Batman fanatic and I wanted something Batman, but classy. These fit the bill. Shipping was fast and easy.

Batman socks (amazon): A
I wanted fun socks for DH to wear at the wedding and when I found these I knew they were perfect. Shipping was fast and easy.

Mini-Moon:
Showboat Atlantic City: A-
My friend suggested this hotel, so I took her word and booked. The hotel was nice enough; the room was big and clean. The casino is nice, but not one of my favorites; mostly because we NEVER had any waitress come over and offer us drinks. In some of the other casinos, they have a button on the machine that orders your drink, so I definitely missed having that while I was playing!
The Reserve: A+
I CANNOT say enough good things about this place! It is a little pricey, due to being a steak and seafood house, but the price is so worth it. I had the filet mignon with lobster mac and cheddar cheese. My meat was cooked to perfection and I stuffed myself trying to finish the mac and cheese because it was THAT good. DH had the porterhouse steak and shrimp (both of which were good, but not as yummy as my food!)

Invitations: Jessica Leigh Paperie: A+
Jessica does the most beautiful work! She is amazing to work with and is always very quick to respond to any emails. We purchased: invitations/RSVP post cards, signature drink signs, seating cards, Do Not Disturb door hangers, hotel bag tags, favor tags, and bell tags (we did bells instead of bubbles for the church and I had a cute poem that she put on a tag). EVERYTHING was beyond perfect and beautiful!

Hair: Courtney: A+
Courtney is one of my best friends that I’ve known since HS. She put up with me a lot lol. We did two hair trials and she even did my hair for my rehearsal dinner. She is beyond amazing and talented!

Make-up: Jaime K.: A+
Jaime did a great job with my makeup. She listened to what I wanted and then gave her professional opinion on what might work better (mostly some color choices, which was fine with me!). My makeup looked beautiful all night!

DOJ: Treasures by Agnes (treasures 570 on etsy): A+
I found this vendor on etsy. I knew I wanted pearl jewelry with a vintage feel, but I was not willing to spend an obscene amount of money on it. While looking on etsy, I came across a vintage bracelet that was beautiful, but didn’t match my dress. I started looking at her store and fell in love with a necklace, bracelet, and earrings set. My mother ordered them for me with ivory pearls (to match my dress) and they came in quickly and were beautifully made.

DOJ PART 2
DH gifted me with a beautiful pearl necklace and earrings set. Some girls change dresses, I got to change jewelry!

Hair Comb: “Amelia” DeborahLINKDesigns (etsy): A+
I am not very into hair to be honest, so I had a very difficult time finding anything that “spoke” to me. I was browsing etsy (as I did every night lol) when I came across this beautiful comb. Ordered it the next day and it took less than a week to be delivered. It was very sturdy and beautiful.

Shoes: Lulu Townsend (Valissa) DSW.com A+
I have a VERY difficult time finding shoes that fit (very narrow, long feet that are flat as a board) so I decided to start shopping pretty early. I went to DSW, but couldn’t find much. Most of the shoes that were blue (what I was wanted) were 4+ inches high – I wouldn’t last all night in those! I finally saw the Lulu Townsend shoes, but they were in plum. I saw that they came in navy so I tried them on – and fell in love right away. They didn’t have them in the store, and the online store was sold out as well, so I emailed them. I received an email back less than 12 hours later saying that they were out of stock, but would be back in stock in a few weeks. I checked back a few weeks later and my mother was able to order them for me.

Bridal Belt: Barron’s (Tri-County Flea Market) A
I looked everywhere for a belt to wear with my dress. I refused to pay $500+ for a belt, so there weren’t many options. My mother and I went to Barron’s one Sunday and found a beautiful headband in the case. We spoke to the owner, who said they could make it into a belt for us. It came out beautifully and went wonderfully with my dress!

Veil: Fifi by ClassicalBridal (etsy) A+
There was a minor hiccup in ordering the veil. I had ordered swatch samples about 2 weeks before my first fitting so that I would have them and be able to order the veil ASAP (since I decided 6 weeks before the wedding that I wanted a veil). The swatches never came! I emailed the seller, and she was quick to send a replacement. I received my veil VERY quickly (like 2 or 3 days after we ordered) and it was PERFECT!

Thumbprint Tree/Bar Sign: Marisa Shor Designs: A+
Marisa is a friend of mine from high school who is a graphic designer. I knew I wanted something different than the typical guest book, and when I saw the thumbprint tree I knew that was it! I emailed her what I wanted for the tree and the bar sign, and she quickly came up with designs that DH and I loved.

**Shout out to Staples for printing all of our table numbers (DH designed them to be different Batman characters), programs, and Thumbprint Tree. Fast and pretty cheap for all the stuff I had them do.**

Mr & Mrs Signs for Reception: CowCountryCreations (etsy): A
I purchased the cute Mr. & Mrs. Signs for our reception chairs. The only complaint I had was that it said they shipped on February 1, but they didn’t end up going out until February 6. Really not a big deal considering I didn’t need them until October. They were very cute and exactly what I wanted.

Channa Plaque: My Sweet Memories (etsy): A
Channa is a total sweetheart and made the perfect sign for us.

Cardbox: KellyMarieCollection (etsy): B-
At first glance, it was a really nice box. Simple, with four frames and a top sitting on a lazy susan. My biggest problem was that it had a lock that barely worked (kind of important for a card box) because the key kept spinning around in the lock instead of latching and locking it. After locking it, it would also just open if there was too much pressure applied. But it did look really nice.

Dress: Maggie Sottero, Lorie from Bridal Reflections, Massapequa
Dress: A+, Customer Service: A+
I had seen on Maggie’s website that there was going to be a trunk show at Bridal Reflections in a month, so I asked my mother if I should make an appointment. I loved Maggie’s dresses, but wasn’t planning on dress shopping until the summer. My mother said to make the appointment, since if I didn’t find anything, I would still have plenty of time. So I made the appointment for the earliest available on that Saturday morning. My mother, DH’s sister, Amy, and myself worked with Jody to pull several dresses. I had my eye on two specific Maggie’s when I arrived (Dynasty & Alandra), so Jody pulled those right away. Those two were beautiful and had really caught my eye, but Jody noticed I was going more towards more fitted, lace dresses, and those two were corseted tops with textured skirts. We pulled about 10 dresses, and before I went to try them on, my mother spotted Lorie, so we pulled that one too. The first dress I tried on was beautiful, but not for me. The second dress was the Lorie. Before Jody even laced it up, I started crying (and I am not a crier). I came out and my mom and sister-in-law got all teary as well. I knew this was THE ONE. But my mother insisted I try on the other dresses. I tried on the two I came to see (they were beautiful, but not for me – I couldn’t even walk in those skirts!) and about 3 more of the 10 I pulled. I didn’t even bother with the rest, I just asked Jody to put me back in MY dress. In less than an hour, I had said yes to the dress, and I couldn’t have been happier with the dress or my experience!

Alterations: Bridal Reflections, Massapequa A+
Zizi did my alterations and boy does she know her stuff! She did a great job with the minor alterations that I needed and made me feel great while I was there! We even hired her to put me into my dress the day of the wedding so we knew it would be perfect.

Bridesmaids Dresses: Bridal Reflections, Massapequa
Dresses A+, Customer Service A
I had set up the appointment for myself and my girls for a Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, my MOH’s cat had gotten out a few days prior and been struck by a car, so she had to take him to the vet (he’s fine but needed surgery) and was over an hour and a half late. Our attendant was amazing and never once rushed us or made any comments about my late MOH. She helped us find the PERFECT dresses for my BMs and when my MOH arrived, she quickly found the perfect dress for her. The dresses are B2 by Jasmine and were ordered in Cayman Blue.

Mother of the Bride Dress: Totally You in Bellmore: A
I went with my mother to pick out her dress while on vacation from school. We had to wait (surprising considering it was a Tuesday – but it was President’s Week), but the women there were very nice. I pretty much took over (woops) and helped my mom get into the dresses, so we really didn’t need a consultant lol. She ended up getting the second dress she tried on and it was so different and beautiful.

Tuxedos: Men’s Warehouse Long Island: A+, New Jersey: D
DH went with the guys to pick out the tuxes a few months before the wedding. When the guys on LI picked them up 3 days before the wedding, everything was perfect. FIL & BIL live in NJ and also went to pick them up 3 days before the wedding. BIL’s tux was perfect (the ONLY reason they didn’t get an F), but FIL’s tux was completely wrong – NOTHING that he ordered was there. Men’s Warehouse told them that they didn’t have anything that would fit him in the store (he’s a big and tall guy) so he needed to go to the one on LI. Needless to say DH & I were not happy, but everything was fixed in the end.

Flowers: Hidden Essence: A+
Flowers were not my top priority when planning our wedding. DH had requested sunflowers, so I was kind of just running with that but attempting to not make it too fall-ish. I met with 4 florists, but did not click with anyone the way I did with Michelle. She’s beyond amazing and was really quick to respond to any questions or requests I had. I had bought charms for each girl’s bouquet, as well as elephant (my favorite animal) charms for myself, and Michelle did a great job of incorporating them onto the bouquet handles. I also had the straps removed from my dress and Michelle used them to cover my bouquet handle. She even added little pearls behind my elephant charms! The centerpieces were exactly what I asked for and even more beautiful than the original samples. Everything she did was SO beautiful and we received so many compliments.

Photography: Lighthouse Photography: A++++++
We seriously cannot say enough about the Lighthouse team! Our photographers were Florio and Joe, and their assistant was Kurt. They were so patient with me (I hate being the center of attention and get a little witchy when I’m overwhelmed), and got some of the most amazing shots I have ever seen. DH & I had automatically clicked with Florio when we met him, and could not have been happier with our decision to book Lighthouse. Kurt knew my entire must have shot list (3 pages long – I know I’m a little crazy!) and made sure I was able to get every shot I wanted. Florio and Joe are creative geniuses who created and captured the most incredible moments (including the Cowboys score on my DH’s phone with me holding it, screaming in the background). I literally could not imagine our wedding being shot by anyone else!

Limos: US Limo: A-
We had a Denali for the bridal party. It was clean and on time; the driver was very nice. We weren’t in it very long (hotel to church, church to reception), but overall, it was exactly what we needed. There had been a slight miscommunication about a town car at the end of the night, but US Limo rectified the situation the next day. Overall, we had a good experience with them.

Shuttle: Silhouette Limo (Brooklyn): B-
Communication wasn’t great and there was a mess-up with the timing, but overall not too bad. It was a 50 person bus that got our guests from point a to point b.

Church: St. Patrick Church, Bay Shore
You can’t really rate a church lol. Every time we worked with Father Tom, everything went well and painlessly. Pre-cana through St. Pat’s was amazing; it was something we both truly enjoyed. The women who run the rehearsals seriously seem to have no idea what they are doing and were confusing everyone. They also REALLY rushed us (we had a 7:00 rehearsal and there was a couple before AND after us), which made me very unhappy. But, the wedding day was absolutely perfect. Monsignor Coogan gave a great homily and the readings and singing were wonderful. We could not have asked for a more personalized and beautiful mass. When I walked in, I could not believe how many people were there (I teach and had a bunch of students in the church as well as guests at the wedding). It truly was a mass full of love and well-wishes for us. It also helps that all the women I know GUSH about DH’s reaction to seeing me – he started crying when the doors opened and again during our vows.

DJ: After Hours DJ Entertainment: A+
When DH & I got engaged, we had been told about Phil and the After Hours crew. DH clicked with Phil the minute he met him and wanted to book him right away. DH has eclectic taste in music, so it made him feel great that Phil really seemed to understand him and be cool with a lot of the music choices. We had a gobo made up of the 1989 Batman symbol to put on the floor (DH is Batman OBSESSED!) and our entrance was the 1989 Batman theme song (Phil had awesome timing on this song). Everything went perfectly and we couldn’t have asked for a more fun and upbeat DJ that kept our dance floor moving all night! We also did zap shots and a steel drummer through After Hours, both of which did an amazing job!

DOC: A Modern Day Affair: A
Laura was super easy to get in touch with and really makes sure that she knows everything you want for the day of your wedding. She did a wonderful job of taking control of everything and was on top of anything DH & I wanted.

Favors: Afresh Approach: A+
We decided on a 4 truffle box with: champagne truffle, oreo truffle, coconut tequila truffle, and bay caramel truffle. The box also had almond butter crunch (my favorite) in it. The favors were amazing and working with Jeanne and Skip was great.

Hotel Block: Huntington Hilton: D
My mother and I were in charge of this one and went to two different hotels. We immediately clicked with Annette (the one in charge of hotel blocks) and booked the same day. She gave us prices for the junior and regular suites for DH & myself in our contract, but apparently NEVER ADDED THE SUITE TO OUR HOTEL BLOCK FOR US! When I called to book, I was told no big suites were available, only the junior suite, and they were charging me $150 MORE PER NIGHT than was listed in my contract because we didn’t have it “in our hotel block.” Totally not our fault at all and I was LIVID. I emailed Annette right away and told her the price needed be adjusted. She fixed it, but I was still not happy with how this was starting out.
Fast forward to the day before the wedding. DH goes to check in and the room isn’t ready (he wasn’t early for check-in); not a big deal. Then he goes up to the room and he calls me right away saying that there was no way that was a junior suite because it looks like a regular room. He talked to the manager and he said that it WAS a junior suite, but my DH was not convinced. I told him that he needed to demand to see a regular room to compare, and when he said this to the manager, he was told they were completely booked and he could not do that. My DH was very annoyed by the way he was treated the DAY BEFORE OUR WEDDING, when he’s supposed to be relaxing.
When I arrived at our hotel after the wedding, I could tell that it definitely was bigger than a regular room; I think DH was just expecting bigger. I was INCREDIBLY disappointed to see that they had not cleaned the room once the guys had left for the church (almost 12 hours prior!). The room was a mess (having had 6 guys in it all day and the night before) and someone from the hotel had come in to drop off champagne and strawberries, but no one cleaned. It really just didn’t make sense to me.
The next day I found out that not only did the CANCEL my friend’s reservation without their consent, but someone from hotel cleaning walked into their room at 8:00 A.M without knocking the day after the wedding. SERIOUSLY?! They also weren’t giving people their hotel bags (full of food, water, and a Do Not Disturb door hanger); there were 5 or so left over, so my mother demanded them back!
The only reason the hotel isn’t receiving an F, is because of the very sweet employee that helped us with our luggage. When we checked out, we asked for a luggage carrier to help us get all of our things downstairs. The guy (I forget his name) was quick and did everything for us; which included running back up to the room when we forgot our favors in the fridge.

Reception: The Historical Thatched Cottage: A+++++++
The Thatched Cottage was the second place we went to visit. I fell in love with it right away, but DH wanted to look at other places to be sure. We looked at 8 other places, but I kept going back to Thatched Cottage. Since they were one of the few places we looked at that allowed you to have a tasting before you booked, we decided to try the food and make our decision. Our tasting was absolutely delicious and plentiful (several starters, meals, and mini desserts, along with wine and champagne), and we booked directly following our meal.
Throughout our almost 2 year engagement, Maureen (our BM), was incredibly attentive and helpful. Any and all questions and concerns I had were addressed quickly. She knew DH was a huge Batman fan (and after seeing his Batman tattoo that didn’t come as a surprise lol) and was very active in coming up with different ideas for us. We kept in constant contact for the engagement and I was very glad to be able to see her for a short time on the day of our wedding.
Our maitre’ d was wonderful and attentive, and my bridal attendant was very sweet and helpful. Between these two and our DOCs, DH and I never needed anything!
Now for the best part – the FOOD! Everything DH & I were able to taste was PERFECT and SUPER TASTY! We had so much food at our cocktail hour that I’m not sure where the guests put all of it! We had a pasta station, Italian station, carving station, mashed potato bar, sushi bar, Asian cookery station, French station, and chaffing dishes with Italian and Polish foods, in addition to passed hor’derves. Everything was cooked nicely and tasted great. There were 7 different options for dinner – all of which were fantastic. I had the salmon (which surprised everyone because I hate cooked fish. But I had it at our tasting and became obsessed with it!) and DH had the filet minion.
We really cannot even describe how well everything went at Thatched Cottage and how much they care about their couples. It was an amazing experience and I truly hope that I get to enjoy them as a guest in my future!
