Bridal Couture in Manhasset
Has anyone ever been able to talk them down on the price of a dress? If so, about how much? The dress I loved was $3500. They also had it in a blend for $2300 but that was still way over what I wanted to spend...

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
I went to Bridal Couture of Manhasset when I first went looking for my dress and when I walked in of course I was in awe - the dresses were gorgeous and the sales people were super nice. That is until I told them what my budget was....after discovering that I could only spend $2K max on a dress they sent me downstairs to look at the sample dresses that had been damaged or discontinued. I tried on dresses in a dimly lit basement and no one helped me at all. I did actually like a Vera Wang gown they had so I asked them to hold it for me which they were willing to do. My MOH's (i had 2 of them) wanted to try on dresses and fell in love with a Watters & Watters gown so we placed an order for 7 BM dresses. Now the drama, once I told them that I wouldn't be taking the wedding gown they treated my BM's like crap. The were very rude, snotty and unaccomodating. My girls were so upset that each one of them called me at a different time complaining on how they had been treated so I canceled the order and had my girls go to Valentina Bridal in BK (they are FANATASTIC). Unfortunately 2 of the girls paid for their dresses but the designer at BCoM was a complete snot and RUDE. They said that the alterations are capped at $75 (lies, lies, lies) - after arguing with one of the sales ppl about the price she said 'well even if its a nip & tuck its still gonna be $75' - which means that its not 'cappped' at $75 it IS $75!!! I'm sorry I ever walked into that place, but thank God the staff at Valentina bridal understood that a happy bride is the best customer. The moral of this rant is that BCoM is a money hungry boutique, and doesn't care about trying to help make the brides dreams come true. If you can't pay walk away!

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
well what you can do is wait until they have a trunk show for the designer of the dress you like and get it at a discount of 10-15%who is the designer? I know on kleinfelds site they have a calendar of all the trunk shows coming up and they have one every weekend, so this way you can know from ahead of time. Maybe bridal couture of manhasset has the same thing.
Many bridal stores if you talk to them might give you a discount, depends on who you have that day but the most i see them go down is about the same they would at a trunk show and its 10-15% off

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
I had absolutely no problems with Bridal Couture of Manhasset. The entire staff treated me wonderfully and very professionally. My dress was designed by the owner of the store and they discounted my gown as well as capped the alterations, which included bustling. I needed very little altered. You could go when they have a trunk show for the designer of the dress you love - it will be discounted at that time.

My friend got a dress from Bridal Couture in white and it came in Champagne. Thank god this was her second dress because there was nothing they could do about it.

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
I have purchased my dress from there and I have 11 people in my BP and they too have purchased the dresses from there and they have been nothing but a pleasure to deal with. Very accomodating to not only me being the bride, but all my bridesmaids as well.

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
do they still not tell you who the designer of the gown is until you buy it?? because this was there policy back in 2005 when i had looked there and i thought that was absurd, but it doesnt seem like they do that anymore??

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
i didn't go there because of my moh's bad experience....the staff was very very pushy. it seemed that after they got your money they were even less nice than before. another friend of mine who just got married a few weeks ago got her dress there and wasn't happy either. her dress came in the wrong color and material!also, when my moh went there, they only took cash or checks....not sure if that's still the case, but any place that doesn't take credit cards is shady in my book.

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
Everyone has a different experiences to places that they go. Not everything is bound to go smoothly. I got my dress from them and have nothing but good things to say. Yeh they're located in one what might think is a 'high class' neighbour but that's not the point.I went in there and tried on my dress and got it discounted to about 1500 bucks. I ended up buying the floor sample because it fit perfectly. They stored my dress for me and even during the alterations they were helpful. I had to reschedule my appointment 3 times and everytime that I did call they were nothing but kind and didnt hammer me for canceling on them.
And store you go to, you can only but try to talk a dress down...The best advice is to go shopping at 6-7 places that you know has that dress. This way you get a better idea on how much that dress can be purchased for..

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
I went to BCM and the people were soo rude. The problem is that I felt in love with a gown at that place. The designer told me that she only sells her gowns in that store. The next closest store is pretty far for me (somewhere in NJ). So, I have decided to order there. Hopefully, I won't have any headaches. The people there are very unpleasant. I’m thinking about having my alterations done at another place. My gown was $3500 too.
Who makes your gown?

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
I went there this weekend on my first wedding dress experience I had no problems with the staff. My MOH and I also went to Wedding Salon, and I found them to be pushy. My MOH went to take a picture, and the lady FLIPPED out on her. Go for youself..everyone has different experiences.

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
ok soo yeah I am new the site.. and i found your post.. Today was a day of hell.. I also ordered my dress from Bridal Couture of Manhasset... I called on the 2nd of January & the recording said they were closed due the holiday and they would reopen on the 5th. I called on the 6th and the machine recording said they are closed for renovations til the 12th. Now, I have left 3 messages.. No one has called me back.. I starting getting a little nervous this weekend and I stopped by on Sunday... of course the door was closed and I peaked inside and it just seemed a little bare...and it did not look like they are renovating at all... I called today and the machine said there’s no room to leave a message and hung up on me.. I called Better Business Beau to see if they went out of business.. They said no complaints for this year and according to them they are still in business but I should check with consumer affairs.. I called consumer affairs... they said they are aware of it.. And they are investigating it because I was not the only one calling.... and they would call me back by the end of the week....ok Seriously... this is so messed up if they did close... and the fact that they aren’t returning calls if they are renovating? come on ....
@ this point I just need to know if i have to go find myself another dress...

Re: Bridal Couture in Manhasset
KYBride09 and I are in the same boat. Have you tried contacting the designer of your dress? If not, try to do that first thing in the morning.I spoke with a rep for my designer and learned that my dress has not shipped to the store yet. I felt much better after speaking to them and knowing exactly where I stand.
Hang in there! If you learn anything else about the status of Bridal Couture, please let us know!!!

I was at a bridal store yesterday and the owner got a phone call from someone, and told me and my friend that that store has closed down. I don't know 100%, but these people are in the wedding business
