DIY experiences

Hi! Can anyone give me their experiences with DIYing? We've decided to do it ourselves since we have a very tight budget, $15000 for about 100 people (maybe a little less). We have a venue (we are having it at a hall similar to knights of Columbus for $2000). Now is it possible to have a caterer, photographer, and whatever else we need for $13000? How much did it run for you after everything (venue, caterer, dj, etc) was said and done? I just want to make sure it's possible to have the wedding we want after covering all our bases.

We require almost $30000 for complete wedding including shopping, venue, caterer everything. The price for venue are comparatively less here in Australia so we spend more money in other things.
