Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun ? PJeff Ferry question...
Does anyone know which one is closer once we get off the ferry (from Port Jeff to Bridgeport) ? Also any feedback on either would be great. I have been to M Sun and Loved it, years back. We're just going for one nite, 6 of us. Thanks ! Anna

I think Foxwoods is closer to the Orient Ferry where it gets off in Conneticute closer to Rhode Island.

They both leave you in New London... I know Foxwoods has a shuttle and I think MS does too But let me warn you if you get any type of motion Sickness...Do not go on them. I went last summer with my friends and my husband and I were Green it is 11 nautical miles and it takes 2 hours...if you live more west on the island you are better off driving....

Yikes, thanks for that info. So we will either take the Orient Point ferry or just drive. (the others are coming from Queens so it can go either way). Does anyone know which of these casinos has more shopping ? Im sure i'll only gamble for a couple of hours... thanks!

Anna, There is an express ferry... I think it leaves from Port Jeff. If you get any kind of motion sickness, I highly recommend taking it! One of the boats that leaves from Orient is TINY, and of course thats always the one we take. I'm usually sick as a dog by the time we get there because the d*mn thing rocks all over the place. It kind of runs the fun... As for shopping, I've never been to MS, but Foxwoods doesn't have much. I'm not much of a gambler, so after I spend my quarters on the slots I usually head over to the lounge where they have live music and I can people watch. Sometimes I even bring a book! I know it sounds lame, but I enjoy it. : ) I hope you have a great time!

The only advantage if you drive is that there are Outlets by exits 40 (Clinton Crossing and Westbrook )off 95. But MS Has Chicos and a couple of other shoppes. MS IS better...I was at Foxwoods this weekend and It was Sooooooooo Busy. If you want to see about the outlets go to http://www.outletbound.com

Thanks for the info ladies ! Jenn, I know what you mean about not wanting to gamble all nite. I get restless after 2 hours at the most. My husband can spend an entire day at the craps table ! Hey a book is a great idea ! MSCJLK, thanks for the outlet info, and Stef - thanks for your input :) as always, helpful advice from you all !

There are high speed ferries that go from both Glen Cove and Orient to New London. You can arrange to go on the high speed CAT from Orient and have a bus pick you up at New London and take you to Foxwoods (not sure about MS). The regular ferry from Orient is an auto ferry and the trip is 1 hour and 20 minutes. They have some very large ferries and some smaller ones also. You can go on their website and see which boat is which and check the schedule to see which one you want to take. My husband and I go to New England a lot and have taken the ferry several times to avoid NYC traffic. I have motion sickness and have not yet had a problem on this ferry. I did get sick on the Bridgeport ferry though..never again!Welcome New Vendors
