Late Honeymoon
How many of you ladies didn't take a honeymoon right after your wedding? My husband and I couldn't afford to since we paid for the entire wedding ourselves but now we are stuck deciding to buy a house with the wedding money or go somewhere. What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards buy a house and he's leaning towards going away b/c he feels like its important for us to get away. thanks for your opinions

Re: Late Honeymoon
cant you find an affordable vacation and put the majority of the money towards a house? i dont see this as a mutually exclusive decisionand, yes, i do think vacations are important. you guys deserve it!

Re: Late Honeymoon
We ended up going on our HM 3 months after the wedding... it just worked out time wise for us..But I voted take a HM!! There are plenty of places you can go and things you can do for a late honeymoon that won't break the bank! It's a special trip that you can only take once, and getting away, just the two of you, to celebrate your marrage (IMO) is important.

ITA! There's always stress with a wedding so a break away is definitely needed (I think). Doesn't have to be an extravagant one - just time away from your daily life. Could be upstate, out on the island, etc.

Re: Late Honeymoon
I think you guys should definately take a vacation - you can find one that's affordable, that would still let you save for a house but go away for a few days. Just be on the look out for some amazing deals (travelzoo.com has a lot of good ones), and take the time to go enjoy yourselves!

Re: Late Honeymoon
We didn't go on our honeymoon yet. We booked a cruise for the end of October. We did a mini moon to AC right after the wedding for a few days just to get away.Personally I think a house is more important than an extravagant HM. So for us, a cruise was a great way to have a nice HM and save money too. We even upgraded to a fantastic suite and it's still fairly inexpensive. We are looking for a house right now as well, so saving money was really important to us.
So maybe look into doing a cruise? You can see a lot of places in 7 days and stay on course financially for a house.

Re: Late Honeymoon
We went on a mini-moon right after wedding and then honeymoon in November, there is nothing wrong with waiting to vacation!

Re: Late Honeymoon
We did a minimoon right after the wedding and went on our actual HM 2 months later. Why not find an inexpensive trip like New Orleans, the Florida Keys or Las Vegas? At least for an extended weekend and then you won;t have to dip into the house $$.

Re: Late Honeymoon
I voted for putting the $ towards a house. BUT, i think you should plan a little getaway. even if it's on the inexpensive side and more local! It'll be nice to try something new with the hubby!
