Swollen Gums---Ice or Heat?

My gums are swollen, should I be using hot compresses or cold ice to get it to go down? And, directly on he gums, or on my face?

Re: Swollen Gums---Ice or Heat?

When things are swollen & inflammed, ice is usually indicated.
As for directly on the gums or not, that I'm not sure.

Have you tried to gargle with warm salt water?

Re: Swollen Gums---Ice or Heat?

Cold is usually used for swelling. Heat will make it more inflammed. Try holding a cold compress on your cheek, it would be kind of difficult to apply directly on your gums.
