Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

I'm getting married there in a few weeks. I am also one of the brides that was supposed to be getting married at the Atlantica. After a bit of a rocky start, things have been great with them. They've really tried to accomodate us and make us feel good about the switch in plans. If all goes well, I definitely plan to come back and post a review. They've been getting terrible PR, and while I'm sure much of it is deserved (I was pretty ticked at them back when the Atlantica closed), they've been trying to make it right.
Feel free to ask me any questions too!

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

I am getting married there as well. They have been so awesome to work with now that they are up and running.
I know some girls had bad experiences with them before they were opened, but being a Long Beach resident, I know alot of it was the city's fault, and most they could not control.
I have had two people that I know that went to weddings there, and both had nothing but great things to say. (One was actually this past weekend and called me sunday to RAVE about the place!)
It is expensive, but it is a unique venue. I can't wait for my wedding to be held there!
Also, I have been there for dinner many times, and it just keeps getting better! Again, it is a brand new venue, so it had some kinks to work out in the begining.
If you have any questions, please feel free to FM me!

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

My FH and I went to check it out. It is very different and modern, almost like a breath of fresh air in the wedding industry BUT their prices are on the more expensive side (depending on what your budget is I guess) but the more people you guarantee the more they will work with you on price. The food looks amazing and the way that they set it up is very different and memorable.

The one negative comment that I have is that when we went to go speak with a manager she had us going over the menu and paperwork in the room that the cocktail hour was about to begin in... It was so awkward to be sitting at one of the tables while the guests were eating and getting their drinks. As soon as she left us to get a different paper we bolted out of there - it was just a really awkward moment to be sitting in regular clothing while a wedding was going on the bride was literally 3 feet away with her family.

We would never want anyone to do that to us during our wedding and there really was no guarantee that something like that wouldn't happen...

Again, that is just my experience - so if the style fits and the menu is within budget then by all means... you're going to have a great night in a great location with great food that looked and smelled really yummy lol

Im a born & bred LBer as well. & you are totally correct. They had alot of RED tape to go through. LB is small tight knit town. And do not welcome new business comers easily.
BTW so funny i know your FH. I dont know if he still does but i remember him bouncing at the Inn. lol Small world. Good luck to you both. : )

OMG, so funny! Seriously such a small world!!
P.S. you also have the same wedding song as us!!!

As for pricing, it will vary for when you are getting married...off season vs on season. Also, they have 4 menu tiers, so it really can go anywhere from 200-400 per person...HTH

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

Yes that pricing seems about right. I think you can have a really unique wedding there, but you have to be willing to pay the price. It was a breath of fresh air when I went there especially after seeing all the LI catering halls. I would have loved to get married there, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of pics on the beach or a wedding ceremony on the beach....not my thing. If it suits your style and your budget you can really have a memorable experience there!

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

We are getting married at the church down the road...but last weekend they had a wedding on the beach, and they tented it up really nicely!

I wanted my pics on the beach, so this was perfect!

It just really is special to us since we met in long beach, we live in long beach, and we will continue to live in long beach :)

The manager also said that instead of the beach wedding we would also have the option to do it on their roof top so keep that in mind!

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

Yeah, the rooftop is still not completed, and probably wont be until the end of this summer (although I guess that doesn't matter b/c you aren't getting married this summer)...

That will be really nice up there though!!

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

I showed my parents that hotel with no doubt in my mind i wanted my wedding there... that was until i met with them. They were not very friendly, they were VERY expensive (i mean more than oheka in some senses), did not offer alot of food choices (especially for the cocktail hour), and it had a maximum of 180-200 for the ballroom. of course this was just my expierence.

I really wish i had a better expierence with it because it is so unique and beautiful!!!!

i hope all the brides who booked there have better luck with them!

....;. btw what happened with the atlantica that people need to be married there now??? I missed that one.

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

Atlantica lost its lease with the owners who had it (well they opted not to re-new b/c they were charging over three times a month more then what they had paid in recent years).

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience...They were awesome everytime I went there.

Re: The Allegria Hotel at Long Beach

I was part of a wedding that was held at the Allegria this past weekend, and while I cannot speak to any of the aspects of contracts, dealing with the management or any specifics like that, I can say that my experience was positive.

The bridal attendent was super attentive to everyone in the bridal party and explained everything very clearly for us. I know they helped the bride with a few last minute flower snafus and did everything they could to make the experience as positive as they could.

As for the service - A-MAZ-ING! When ever I got up to dance, when I came back to my chair, my napkinw as folded every time, and a brand new drink was filled at my place. There were tons of servers around tended to everyone, yet they never seemed in the way or bothersome.

Since I was the maid of honor, I know that my friend (the bride) was not 100% satisfied throughout the planning process, but as a guest and bridal party member, I thought they did a great job.

Hope that helps!

GREAT!! Always awesome to hear good stuff among all of the bad stuff previously written on here. Like I said, my friends have been to weddings there, but always wondered if they really liked it, or if they were trying to make me feel better!
