Which cookware set? Cuisinart vs. Calphalon (POLL)

my sister/MOH is the BEST, and she did a GREAT job with everything, except ONE thing. she wanted to save some $$ and she bought us a kind of cheapy set of pots & pans. i don't care about price...BUT i do care about quality. these pots are terrible--everything sticks to it, and they don't heat evenly at all. the handles are loose and its just not good. soooooo DH and i are using a $108 credit we have left at BBB to buy a new set.

here's the thing, we're torn. we know that we can use a 20% off coupon and pay the difference, so we can get a nice set...here are the two that we are torn on:

10 Piece Simply Calphalon Non-stick set:

Original price $199 Our price with discount and credit: $60+

10 Piece Everyday Anodized Non-stick set:

Original price $299 Our price with discount and credit: $130+

OR

Cuisinart 14 piece Non-stick Hard Anodized Set

Original price: $199 Our price with discount and credit: $60+

(the extra pieces here are universal steamers and pasta inserts, and extra sauce pan i believe)

Re: Which cookware set? Cuisinart vs. Calphalon (POLL)

Calphalon hands down.

It is a great brand of cookware..and fabulous starter set. They will last forever and everything cooks so well in them.

eta...the Hard anodized is great. But I have some of the simply calphalong and they are just as good....So I think the Simply Calphalon is perfect.(and prettier)

Re: Which cookware set? Cuisinart vs. Calphalon (POLL)

I don't know much about pots/pans so I voted Calph #2 - only b/c it's Calphalon and I feel like that's a better pots/pans brand than Cuisinart And it's non-stick + hard anodized.

But I really don't know much about cookware...

Re: Which cookware set? Cuisinart vs. Calphalon (POLL)

We put the 8 piece calphalon set that has the glass lids (a MUST for me) on our registry and it was $300. We never thought someone would get it for us (we figured we'd buy it after the wedding with a 20% coupon), but our bestman and his wife got it for us. I like that it's hard anodized, nonstick, glass lids, and said to be great longlasting quality. ETA: our set looks just like your first set, but with glass lids and is hard anodized, not sure if your option 1 is hard anodized or just nonstick.

So I voted for your first calphalon option.

I did put additional pieces on my registry that I hope we get (like the steamer etc), so if you think you'll use and need these pieces, then maybe go with the 3rd option.

Re: Which cookware set? Cuisinart vs. Calphalon (POLL)

We registered for the Calphalon #2 and received it already. I love it so far! The glass lids are great so you can see how everything is cooking and the calphalon is a great brand -- very durable!

well we have some of that stuff already. i plan on tossing most of the set that my sister gave us, but i do have other steamers and such.

this is a toughie! i cook a lot, so i want the set i use to stand all the arroz y gandules, chuletas, asopao, etc. that i'll be making!

i'm starting to lean towards the 2 calphalons, hmm...should i splurge on the anodized? Oh i hate decisions!

Re: Which cookware set? Cuisinart vs. Calphalon (POLL)

Being a foodie, food 'taste' better on regular pots & pans..we registered for our Calphalon set and various non-stick skillets for omelets etc etc pretty much things that need a non-stick surface

This is our set...

Re: Which cookware set? Cuisinart vs. Calphalon (POLL)

We got the 8 piece hard anodized calphalon set and I've only used the pan but I love it! It cooks everything really well and still looks really new although I've used it dozens of times.

Nah don't feel bad.. everyone knows it's a great and long lasting investment, and usually parent or aunts, uncles like to give 'bigger' presents...

I felt the same way, but read my post above... someone bought it for us!!! Totally unexpected, but what a nice surprise! I always say, so long as you have a good range of prices for your registry items, register for what you want. People have the OPTION of buying things for you, so if they don't want to spend $299, don't worry, they won't! THey'll get you something else. But sometimes someone wants to give a bigger gift or two people want to go half and half on a big gift, so it's good to have different priced items on there.

don't feel bad--we registered for a set, and then my sister went into my registry and deleted the one we registered for, cause she bought one for us. but she went to another store and bought their no-frills brand. :-P

i KNOW that if i had the other set on there, it would've been bought. but i felt bad and didn't want to keep it there and have someone buy me a better set and she see it at the shower
