Usually the bridal party but a lot of moms and maids of honor take care of it now as well... I guess it depends on the people you have :)

all the books say that your mom isnt supposed to throw it or any close relative that it is supposed to be your bridal paryty because it would be considered bad taste to have your relatives ask for gifts for you. but i seriously think that some of those wedding books were written in the 40s and never updated lol. i think that anyone that wants to can if they can afford to do so. my mom threw mine with the help of my brother and a few of the bridal attendants chipped in. my mom wouldnt ask them for help but some of them offered.

Traditionally, the bridal party plans and pays for it.

Your Maid or Matron of Honor is supposed to have the Bridal Shower in your honor. Also, the Bridesmaids can help and perhaps all get together and chip in and provide the bride with different gifts with the money that they collected together. And if there is anything that they want to help with the Bridal Shower, even better.

my moh and bridal party threw me my shower. but i heard a long time ago the tradition was that the mother of the bride paid. Times have changed..

My MOH and my Mom are planning mine. Traditionally, I think it's supposed to be MOH and BP but... really, what do we do that is within scope of tradition these days, other than wear the white dress!
