We did! By two couples. And in one case, we really DID think the card was lost because it was so mind boggling. My MIL did exactly what Theresa said. Called and said that the card was lost and that she was worried...only to be told that it wasn't lost...it didn't exist. LOL.

It really was completely mind boggling, otherwise my mil wouldn't have done that.

We were stiffed by 2 of DH's friends...one even went so far to tell us that he doesn't feel comfortable bringing cards to the wedding...and even emailed DH for our address...DH sent it to him and we haven't received anything yet!!!

They are NOT getting TY's from me. Hey, I figure that if they could go so far as to stiff us at our wedding...what good is being the bigger person and sending them a TY going to do for me? Nothing...and same goes for when either one of them gets married...if we go to their wedding they are getting $0...no card either. I really don't care if they send me a TY or not...and if they do, I'll return it!!!!!!!!!!

I too was stiffed and I didn't send TYs. What was I thanking them for...I know their presence was inportant, but hey, they should also know to bring a present! I must say that my DH friends are the cheapest people alive! Now, many of them are single and brought guests without asking! UGH! the nerve!

we did. One of hubbys cousin came with a date, and stayed up till the pasta dish, and did NOT like who he was sitting with, and left

It happened to us also but the guests ended up mailing us something afterwards. I definitely do not think that it is right to call and ask for it, that seems tacky to me, your inviting guests to be part of your special day and enjoy the celebration, if you expect everyone to give a certain amount you will be disappointed. I do agree that as a guest it is wrong not to leave any gift but I think it would be worse to call them out on it.

It happened to us too. I am still surprised, one of my cousins told my mom that she has to get us a gift. I mean, you knew about my wedding a year before, and we have been married for 4 mos. What is she waiting for??

Personally, I would not go to a wedding and give nothing. But I guess some people dont know any better. I will send them a TY for being with us on our wedding day.

ooh, this topic gets me worked up.

we got stiffed by several friends. including one groomsmen whom we love, and several of DH's other friends. are guys that clueless?

DH's mother, father, and brother did not give us a CARD (parents helped pay for the wedding & we got an early gift from his brother)- no card!!! that hurt.

i'm going to bite my tongue and send them all thank you cards anyway.

My friend was just telling me about her wedding. She invited a Coworker and the coworker sent the response card back +1. She wasnt invited with a guest but to not cause problems she let it slide. Fast Foward to the wedding... Co worker shows up with no guest so thats one person she paid for that she wasnt expecting that didnt even show up. She never gave a card. 2 weeks later she gave a card with 20.00 in it. Why bother? For 20.00 u could have bought something.

I feel the same way. I invited our guests to the wedding because I wanted them to physically be there for the celebration, not because I wanted a gift. Of course I was taken aback by the couple that didn't give us a gift but I know they are strapped and I was just happy they came all the way out and were able to enjoy themselves for a night. Clearly I would never not give a gift, but not everyone has the same etiquette standards, so what can you do? Just be the better person and move on.

I had lots of stiffers. I wish I only had one or two to single out. I had a bunch of no-shows too which is even worse. Some people have no idea what is right. Don't worry, you get over it. I used to get all riled up, now I don't even think about it.

My husband and I were just talking about that this morning - we got stiffed by one of my co-workers (she said she couldnt afford to give us anything - nevermind the fact that she just got a $9,000 raise) - which really didnt bother all that much - I was more offended by the fact that she didn't even give us a CARD!!! At least if she wouldve put some thought into picking out a nice card, and written some nice wishes, it wouldve been just fine...but to not even give us a card was totally rude....

We did by two people but got a gift from them 11 months after the wedding. I dont think they would of given a gift at all, but a few days before they finally mailed us a gift they asked my husband for a huge favor, so I guess they realized. One of the two couples gave us a wine rack from bombay with 12 bottles of pindar wine to go with it and another couple (they are sisters) got us some chincy metal bowl that seems like it was regifted to me that I will never use.

we did too - I was surprised by those who did. There were 5 guests (3 invitations really). Anyway we got a card and $$ in the mail from one of them last week - he thought she gave it, she thought he gave it....the other guests - I doubt I'll see any gift - its just part of it all

DH brother stiffed us, no card no nothing he even brought a date.....Just give us a card we would have been happy. I felt bad when DH asked where is my brother's card...UMMM not here..

But here's a story that will top the charts of horrible wedding etiquitte.

My "friend" came to my bridal shower... No gift. No card. But she said she had something for me, but had forgotten it.

My 30th b-day came along. Same story. "Oh I have your present in my apt., but forgot it"

My wedding..."Oh I ordered off your registry. It should be there soon."

Two months later..."Fortunoff sent your wedding to present to my mother's in Minnesota."

Christmas comes and she comes to our holiday party. ALL of my friends bought her a gift and ONCE AGAIN, she shows up empyt-handed with the old "the gifts are in my apt. excuse."

Mind you, I never once asked her for any presents. She was the one who brought the subject up at times of fleeting guilt.

Later that week...I went to Fortunoff to return a prest and the woman asks me the name of the person who purchased the gift. I asked her why and she saids they keep a record of the names of who buys what. "OH REALLY," I say. "Do you have the name Brezman by any chance?" (Brezman is the girl who had all the excuses.)
The clerks answer "No. I'm sorry."

Brezman goes to Minnesota to see here folks for the new year and when she returns (finally fed up with her lying to me) I aksed her if she brought my misdirected gift home with her.

I never heard someone stumble and bumble as much as she did. "No. My mother is shipping it with the 10 new pair of shoes and the new Coach bag I bought."

And gues what... I haven't heard from her since...

Well, after some interesting things that happened right before our wedding and at our wedding...his aunt wrote us a check (9 people came from this one invitation) and it bounced. I called her on it and she never even apologized! I didn't even bother to send a thank-you...I wasn't thankful for paying my bank for her bounced check!
