Re: Which pregnancy test is the best?

I liked the Clear Blue Easy digital....no lines, just a word "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant"

Re: Which pregnancy test is the best?

Agh! I can write a book here:

Once up on a time I would have said HANDS DOWN that Answer early was the best test out there. However, over a period of time they have really gone down hill! I believe that First Response and Answer are now from the same company. First response and Answer both claim to detect at 100 mIU's but can detect much lower than that. In recent months there has been a steady increase of evaps, and not just grey ones, but evaps with a pink tinge to them.

The Clear Blue Digital- Great test because there are no lines to distinguish between, however it is not very sensative so if you want to find out as soon as possible, this is NOT the test you want.

EPT- Once upon a time a fairly good test, however since they changed a bit ago to the same format as Clearblue easy EPT has really gone down hill.

Clearblue Easy- By far the worst test that I have read about, I have read countless posts about false positives, big fat ole evaps, hard to read results ect. The + or - sign gets blurry and form my understanding it is sometimes hard to read the result. Ept has now taken on this + or -angle and I have heard is now just as bad.

Equate- I have read mixed reviews of this one, some claim it is the BEST for detecting early, others state that they are notorious for evap lines.

Dollar Store Version- Not very reliable, but great for people who want to start testing early and don't want to spend an arm and a leg.

Last but not least I will throw the brand I use in on this post.

Online HPt's
I have been using these the last few months and so far so good. I like to start testing early and these are cheap enough to allow me to do it. The cost about $36 for 50 of them (which is equivilant to two boxes of Answer or First response 3 test box) I have yet to get a false positive...it does sometime produce and evap line but they evap is so obvious that it is an evap (loks more like a grey indent more than anything) that I let it slide. Also, it claims to detect at 20Miu (which is what dr's office tests test at) but I have yet to get preggo using these tests so I can not yet vouch for thier sensativity.

Anyway. These are just the things I have learned about these tests over the last two years. I am sure some people will have very different opinons.

With the Clear Blue Digital, if you pull the test apart after reading the read out ......there are lines. When I found out I was pregnant, I used the clear blue digital and it said "not pregnant" and when I took it apart there were two lines. I took the test again and it said "pregnant"

I like the Clear Blue Digital.

If you read the pamphlet though, it clearly states that there are ALWAYS two lines. The computerized chips reads the intestity and hue of the line to make the determination on if you are pregnant or not.
