Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
Hey Ladies, I went to the North Ritz Club last week on Tues., June 2007 with pretty much everything would run about $170 (tax/grat. included). I think it was pretty, but didn't go crazy over it. The cocktail room is beautiful and very spacious. One event at a time. The grounds were nice, but I thought they were going to be much bigger. The BM we spoke w/ seemed very nervous. I'm not sure why though. It would have definitely worked towards our advantage if we wanted to book. The reception room is beautiful also, but I personally felt that it didn't fit what I wanted. Another important thing to mention is that they don't allow fog/bubble machines. I don't care about the bubble's, but I know for a fact that I want smoke. The bathrooms were nice...but I didn't like the fact that they were in the basement. As far as the menu, I wasn't to crazy about what they offered. But remember I come from a huge Italian family...so with food I need to be beyond picky. Hope this helps. After my vacation I'm going to Surf Club, VIP country club, Chateau Briand...and more. Stay tuned.

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
I am actually an 'o6 bride, but I saw this topic and wanted to let you all know about Hamlet WIllow Creek in Mount Sinai. It jsut opened up in April (so everything is brand new) and it is very affordable - we are paying $85 p/p for a Friday night in July. I am not sure if they are raising the prices (b/c it really is very cheap for the quality and amount you get in the package) and the place is beautiful. It is on a golf course...I just can't say enough about the place. I know a member of a wedding band who played there and someone who went to a wedding there and they raved about it. The food is delicious and being that they are new and want their name out there, they are very willing to accomodate you. It's definitely worth checking out. Good luck in your search!

I also just booked Land's End (last night actually). I went to a wedding there 2 years ago and fell in love with the place, especially because it's ONE WEDDING AT A TIME. Everyone will start realizing how important this is and might consider paying extra. Knowing that you'll be sharing YOUR wedding day with another bride. NOT my idea of a perfect day.
ESPECIALLY for anyone thinking about the Woodbury Country club, you SHARE the grounds with another bride!!!! They TRY to cover up with tall bushes, but I don't think they're very successful.
Anyhow, back to Land's End. Anyone else book there? I'm curious to know what prices others got quoted. I am doing October of 2007. I received a quote 0f $130pp plus tax and gratuities, guaranteeing 150 guests or more. The thing was that I could have sworn she quoted me $130pp guaranteeing 125-149 guests. And if I went up to 150 guests or more the price would drop to $125pp plus tax and gratuities.
If there are NY other brides-to-be that have booked Land's End and want to 'compare notes' let me know.

i booked @ lands end in sayville for 2007-i went with a sunday because saturday was alittle pricey-$139 (this includes tax & gratuity)lands end to me is not your normal wedding hall-it is quaint, intimate, and most of all the grounds-it is on the water and there are so many options for pics.
YEY - another Land's End bride! I'm a 2006 bride but there is only one other Land's End bride on the 2006 board (and she is NEVER on here)! I can't wait till their next showcase - the one in Feb was SO good!
Though I have booked a 2007 Land's End wedding, would still love to chat and hare thoughts and ideas.

The Woodlands of Woodbury- $145 this is for a JULY SAT MORNING I don't know how many people you are having but I was having 100-125 and they only would do the Morning... which means since it is located on a Golf Course... there will be golfers outside the windows...
Have you looked at the Deseversky on NYIT campus... I think that this is where we are going to book...
here are the prices for Deseversky
May, June, July 140 sat 130 sun 120 fri
Now... with this place they only do one wedding a DAY... so you can pick whatever time you want... Which is good for us b/c we have a small minimum... and it is hard for us to get a night wedding anywhere.
Hope this helps!

I haven't been to Deseversky but it looks BEAUTIFUL online... i'm so confused & overwhelmed with everything.. I just went to Carlyle on the Green today & we really loved it.... We also already saw Flowerfield and this week we're seeing The Carltun & The Woodlands.... we'll see! I don't think i'll bother w/ Oheka.. that is insanely priced.. I am NOT paying a site fee. We wanted sat night but it seems Friday night will have to be the day because of price.

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
Alot of places are really nice, but it all depends on your budget. What we did was made a list of 3 places we REALLY loved and then had a list of secondary places that we loved a little less. Went from one to the next until we got a price that we liked...luckily it was the first place we went! Dont be overwhelmed, not that I am not, but I have time and am trying to spread it out so it doesnt feel so crazy. Good Luck! Happy Planning!

Hi, Did anyone check out Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn, NY? I heard that they were pretty good. I'm going to view the space next week. I'll let you know how it turns out. For anyone that is interested, their website is www.grandprospect.com
I work at a hospital in Brooklyn and we have our Christmas party there every year. The food is great and Artie is awesome. The only reason I'm not having my wedding there is b/c, since we have our party there every year and it's always at least 500 people, we're always in the huge main room which I love. Of course with only 200 people we would be in a different room and I just had my heart set on that main room. I couldn't bear to have my reception in a different room there (although Artie showed me around last Christmas, and all the rooms are beautiful. Some of them have a view of the city too.) HTH!

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
Hi everyone..I am an '05 bride getting married in November. I just wanted to give you a little tip that i took advantage of for my wedding. I know everyone wants a weekend wedding(I did!) but I also really wanted an evening wedding, and for a couple on a very tight budget who are paying for the wedding themselves, we did not have too many options. I went to the Milleridge Cottage in Jericho and I absolutely loved it! The cottage is beautiful (especially the atrium) and it is a really great size with plenty of room to move around. It was important for me to be able to get married right there at the hall since we are not too religous.
Anyway, after falling in love with the hall, reality hit when we sat down to go over the prices. Leslie, who is wonderful, saw that we were having doubts and was very honest with us about our budget. She suggested we think about booking around a holiday because prices are lower. Then she suggested Wednesday, November 23- the night before Thanksgiving. At first we were a little skeptical, but hey- everyone has off the next day!
So we booked our dream place, which on a friday or saturday night ranges from 110-150 pp plus tax and gratuity (with a 200 person minimum) for $59.00 pp with a 150 person minimum! And that is for the 2 star menu.
So if you are having a problem with prices, like I did, this is definetly a great idea!
Good Luck! It's here before you know it!

Danacm80,
I really liked the woodlands too!!! but they are more expensive then the Deseversky, and it is set on a golf course... And since I am not having a huge wedding, we would have to do it in the afternoon with golfers all around... I don't know how big your wedding is... But just a thought.
Also... Deseversky only does one event a day, so you can choose anytime no matter how many people, that is the only place that would give me a sat night... with 100-125 ppl...
But I really liked the woodlands too, but I couldn't have it at night... Any my FH wasn't so thrilled about the golfers...

Re: Hey Ladies...Let's post reception halls and there prices for 07 as we go on our search?
Prinses... Thanks for your help... I think your wedding will be beautiful at DeSeversky... my sister knows someone that has been there for a wedding and they said it was great. I was looking on the website & saw that you have the mansion for the whole day ... do you know how the food is? or who the caterer is? We just went to Carltun tonight & loved it... i've liked every place i've been to haha... we had my sister's shower there last year and i know they do a wonderful job with it & i know the food is good... so as of now Carltun is my favorite & also the most expensive so far but we're getting money from our parents so we could probably swing it.... we'll see... i'll let you know what i choose! By the way, to answer your question, we're inviting about 215 & hoping no more than 175 show up haha.. so guaranteeing 150 was no problem... thats for friday night...

Deseversky's food is pretty good, they are actually known for there food they have a culinary institute, so it has a pretty good reputation.
I am really torn between that Deseversky and The Woodlands... I don't know which to decide on...

Prinses... I have never veen to Vanderbilt Mansion but if its the one on the Dowling campus I think the food is supposed to be very good. Its Lovin Oven caterers who does Lands End and Flowerfield..etc and they I hear have great food. If its the Vanderbilt mansion in Huntington.. then I have no info.. I don't know any prices either. I visited Flowerfield and they gave me a CD with all of their locations and Vanderbilt mansioon looks very nice! I would have looked there but it is a little too far east than I wanted to go. Good luck at your appt! Let us all know how it goes!
