What happened at your school that made you want to leave?

i've been on many an interview and have basically never been asked why i wanted to leave my current position. and if they did ask, you can always come up with some logical answer that is not exactly the truth (e.g. distance from home, philosophy differences, furthering your career elsewhere, etc). I certainly wouldnt let that stop you from applying!

eta: If you were denied tenure, however, they do have the right to know, i believe (i've seen that on many applications).

I agree 100% you can come up with an asnwer that doesnt have to go into any of the circumstances of your job....I do think they do ask if you have been granted tenure in another district and what not...

Just know that when they call for reference checks - they'll ask/find out anyway.

From what I remember from my education law class, unless you did something to endanger the children, then the principal is not at liberty to give you a bad recommendation. Likewise, the interviewing comittee usually understands personality differences. It is not uncommom for this to happen in schools. It certainly is not fair and I am sorry that you felt "ousted" by your school. Sometimes it is better to break away and start new. I think it would be better on your mind to be somewhere where they really want you.

It will all work out!!! I can't see why she would not want you back--maybe she could of just transfered you to another school in the district.
Everything happens for a reason

I left a tenure track job on LI for another one and it wasn't an issue.
