Updated with SIB pics - My 9-11-05 Review: Swan Club, SIB, Bliss, Exquisite Events..etc.
Hello all,
I finally got around to posting some of my wedding pictures. I've only gotten a chance to upload some of my b&w pics..haven't gotten around to the color photos yet...I have 1400 proofs!! SIB did a fantastic job. I love our wedding pictures..can't stop looking at them. So, here are a few of my b&w favs. enjoy!
The wedding is finally over and I'm so relieved because it was so time consuming, but it's sad to think that it's over and you will never have such a glorious day again...oh well..but it's time for that review. I haven't received my professional pics from Something in Blue yet, but as soon as I do I will post some.
Getting Ready and Night of: Marriott, Brooklyn: A
I stayed at the Brooklyn Marriott the night before the wedding because I needed the space to get ready the day of. The suite was pricey, but I was glad I got the larger room because I had a lot of people in there the day of. We also stayed here the night of the wedding, they provided us with rose petals which was a nice touch.
Ceremony, Queen of all Saints Church: A+
This is the church that I've attended since I was young. Msgnr. Brown did a wonderful job and everyone loved the church...they thought it was so beautiful as do I.
Reception, Swan Club: B
Well, I'm giving the Swan Club a B rating because of their wedding cake. The Swan Club basically gives you two options of cakes...both of which look straight out of 1975. I refused to have this cake on my wedding day, so had to go out of my way and book a cake vendor. If it weren't for this detail, I would say the Swan Club did a really good job..the food that was served was plentiful and everyone seemed to have a good time. I really didn't get to eat much during the wedding, but what I did have I liked.
Transportation, All Star Limo: A+
All Star was not only on time, but early. We had two Lincolns and one Rolls Royce, which was beautiful. I loved riding in the Rolls that day...everyone would stop and look...the driver played the wedding sirens when we were passing through..it was great!.
Photographers, Something in Blue Photography: TBD
I can't grade them yet, but I know Jack and Margaret do great work, and I'm not at all worried. They arrived on time and were really great to work with. They were full of ideas and really were great at handling the crowd of family members.
Video, Bliss Productions: TBD
I also can't grade Bliss yet, but Jerry does fabulous work and I'm not worried about the end product either. Jerry and his assistant arrived on time and were really unobrusive the whole day. They were both great to work with.
DOC, Exquisite Events, Elaine Deluca: A+
I hired Elaine as my DOC and she did a fantastic job. She not only helped me out the day of, but I me with her several times to go over details and she responded to my countless emails and questions. She went above and beyond and was truly a relief to have her. If if it's your budget I would highly recommend hiring her..she was great!
Cake, Audrey's Bakery: A+
I spoke to Thomas about a cake because I didn't think that the Swan Club cake was acceptable. The funny thing is, I never even met with him face-to face..I contacted him soley on the basis of all the great reviews on LIweddings.com. I sent him a picture of a cake that I liked and he told me that we can definetly recreate it..in fact he mentioned to me that it was the "jessica simpson cake", which I had no clue. I picked out the flavors and colors and he took it from there. When I finally saw the cake on the wedding day I couldn't believe how beautiful and perfect it was...it was exactly what I wanted and it tasted great. Thomas did an excellent job!
Cocktail Hour Music, Sterling Music: C
I'm giving Sterling Music a C because they threatend not to play at my wedding...claiming I didn't pay the balance due, which was false. Luckily, Elaine was on the case and she dealt with them one-on-one...the violinist agreed to play after much debate.
Picture Location, Old Westbury Gardens: A+
Diane at the WG was great. She met with our party at the door and directed us to our locations in a timely manner. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous...I'm so glad I spent the extra money and booked this place.
Hair/Makeup and Earrings, Nelson D'Leon: A+
What can I say about the famous Nelson D'Leon??? truly, truly a talented person. He did a superb job on my hair and makeup. We started the day at 10am and he didn't finish until about 1:30pm...he wanted to make sure I was flawless that day. Everyone commented on my hair and makeup...he made me feel like a princess that day...I can't thank him enough!
Florist, Metro Floral Decorators: A+
Elaine recommend this shop to me after I decided not to go with the original florist I booked. Adrian at Metro Floral did a fantastic job on everything...my centerpieces were drop dead gorgeous.....he gave me the look that I was going after. I also think that he gave me a great price for everything..the church, bk's..centerpieces...everything was beautiful.
Gown and Accessories, Kleinfeld's: A+
I purchased my Alvina Valenta gown here, as well as my Thomas Knoell pieces. Ellie, did such a wonderful job with the alterations and she was a doll...ask for her if you go to Kleinfeld's.
Veil, Reem Acra - A+
Great service and beautiful veil...it arrived early and the whole process was hassle free.
Tuxes, Baldwin Formals: A+
All tuxedo's were clean and precisly what we asked for...great service.
Shoes, Melbo Couture: A+
These shoes were so comfy all night..I never took them off. These were the prettiest pair of slingbacks I found in a 1" heel.
Bridemaid dresses, Here Comes the Bridesmaid: D+
This place gets a D rating because they ordered my sister (MOH) the wrong dress and then we had to go on the search through Manhattan to find a pink gown. There was no time to reorder the correct gown!! I was so pissed. The other gowns we ordered were correct, but the mistake was huge on their part, that's why they get the D rating.
Flower girl dresses, shoes and tiaras: Ebay - A+
These dresses, were beyond affordable and were so cute. The girls loved them and so did everyone else...no one could believe how cheap they actually were...similar models in stores were well over $150 bucks. Ebay rocks!!
Tiara, Hair Sticks and Bracelet, Thomas Knoell - A+
I purchased these Thomas Knoell pieces through Klienfeld's but Thomas also has a shop on LI. His pieces are gorgeous...you just want them all. They are so sparkly and beautiful...everyone loved them as did I.
Well, I think that's it...I think I commented on everything...let me know if you guys have an questions!!!
Oh, these pics are some that a friend sent...real blurry but they're the only ones I have of the wedding so far.

Yes your wedding was BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I had a wonderful time and Fern's speech was so touching made my dad cry!! which never happens!!

Great review. I am having my reception at the Swan Club, but an outside cake doesn't work within our budget. I am also using Elaine and could not be happier. She is great and very organized.

What can I say? I'm so happy for you and Fernando...I feel like I know you even though we've never met. Everything looks gorgeous...that cake, those flowers, the menus...superb! All your hard work paid off. And you my dear looked radiant.

To answer your question about still being obsessed...I can't speak for everyone, but I'll tell you that it slowly fades. Enjoy this high right now. It's a great feeling!
