I thought it might be nice to share our experiences and advice with you all as you begin your Wedding Year!


My 1st piece of advide:

don't wear a long veil!

People stepped all over me and tore it up before my ceremony was even over.


Also....when it begins to feel like everything in planning is going wrong and your upset, know that when you look back, nothing seems very important when its all said and done. Being married is all that matters!

Great idea Jenn!

First and foremost I would say to really research and book vendors that you love and have a connection with. Working with them makes it so much easier when you click. Every vendor I booked I felt a connection with.

Don't worry what other people say about all your details. A lot of people thought I was nuts for doing slipper baskets, bathroom baskets, votive place cards, petal cones, etc. Most had never heard of it before. But the day of the wedding everyone commented on all the details and loved everything.

Constantly re-apply your lipstick. This was passed down to me from 04 brides and I religiously re-applied lipstick on my wedding day and each picture my lipstick is perfect and looking great. This seems kinda silly but I know some brides who were upset that in some pics like cake cutting they had no lipstick on.

Get a video. A few of my friends did not get a video and regret it 100%. The day goes by so quick and most brides want to watch it and relive it again.

Get a Day of Coordinator. They are so worth every penny. I used Rosalie from Expressions and she was the ultimate. I did not have one worry the day of the wedding. She did everything and made sure all my details that I worked for 2 years on were perfect. And she made my dream come true. It was all perfect and I was able to enjoy the day without any kind of stress what so ever.

Even when you are stressed - enjoy it. You are only a bride once.

And last is smile, smile smile. No matter what happens keep smiling!

oh...also make sure your love your dress and that its easy to move in


i loved my ball gown but as soon as the dance music started, i was getting sweaty, and had trouble moving.

It was then i was truly grateful i bought a "party dress" too...once i put it one, I felt sooo comfy.

And shoes!!!! looks arent everything! Make sure you wear them and break them in well!

take it one day at a time. my family said that i was the calmest bride they ever saw. did one task at a time. it all will work out in the end. have the wedding what u want to be not what everyone else wants

buy slippers to change into for the reception! I bought $2 chinese slippers which were a GODSEND! no matter how comfy your shoes are, it is awesome to have slippers to put on for the party!

Get ready 06'ers, this is YOUR YEAR!!!

Be sure to get everything in writing!! Every detail that is important to you - and make sure that your vendors understand it and cling to it!! If you are getting the feeling that you are being blown off, or placated so you'll leave them alone - TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE - regardless of how close to the date it is!

Make sure that your veil is not stuck to your headpiece when you're at the alter. I completely forgot about this, and now when I look at my pictures I want to reach through them and fix my veil.

Do not try and appease anyone!! This is your day - and you only get it once! If you want to take pictures upside down - do it. If you want to carry a lobster down the aisle - do it!! A lot of people poo-poo'd the idea of a Carvel Ice Cream Wedding Cake - but I wanted it, and I got it, and everyone thought I was brilliant in the end!!!! "Anything you WANT, you got it!!!"

Make sure when your day comes that you take a step back and look at everything happening around you... The day goes SO fast!! Another reason to get a video!

I am with Kim on re-applying lipstick but also dont forget to touch up your face with powder so your skin doesnt look shiny in the pictures...

Definitely take everything in and the one regret I have from my wedding is that I didn't really get any CH food b/c I kept telling the bridal assistant I didn't need anything. When they ask if you want, make sure you get.

And again, TAKE IT ALL IN!!!! It goes by SOOOOOO fast.

1. get a video, the memories are priceless
2. wear a comfortable gown - if you think you will be uncomfortable for any reason - finad another or have them alter it. There were sequines under my arm that cut me!
3. Make sure you write down the pictures you want and where you want them - I missed a few good photo opportunities.
4. Waterproof mascara!
5. Designate a bridesmaid for make up duty (powder and lipstick especially)
6. Designate another bridesmaids for the children in your bridal party. The kids will need to know there is an adult figure available for any of their needs.
7. HAVE A GOOD TIME - forget the inevitable disasters that will happen, just smile and let someone else worry about it.
