Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
Hi!
This is my first post, but I was just about to book my Disney World honeymoon (my fiance and I have been talking about going there together since Date 1!), and I was wondering if anyone had any advice? We're planning on staying at the Disney Beach Villas in a one bedroom villa. It has a king bed and a whirlpool tub... and a kitchen, which I'm sure will NOT be used. I'm hoping it has a view of Epcot. We're planning on doing the meal plan and the ultimate park hopper. My other choice was to stay at the Polynesian, but they don't have a whirlpool tub (which I love) and they don't have any rooms with king sized beds (unbelievably!). Any thoughts, suggestions, warnings, advice from anyone?
Thank you!

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
We went to Disney for our honeymoon at the end of November and it was the best decision we ever made!!! We had a blast!!! We did the meal plan and it was totally worth it!!!! We stayed at the Contemporary and they upgraded our room because we were newlyweds!!! Make sure you wear the mickey and minnie bride and groom ears because you will get special attention...We were asked to be special guests at Pleasure Island and go on stage and push the button for the fireworks at midnight!!! It was awesome!!! They treated us like royalty because it was our honeymoon...FM me if you need anymore info!!

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
Which Villas are you referring to? The Boardwalk ones? Many do not have EPCOT views, but you can request one (but it's still not guaranteed). I LOVE the Polynesian. We're Disney Vacation Club members and we often stay at Old Key West, but our absolute favorite is the Polynesian. Views overlooking the Magic Kingdom: amazing. The Concierge level is great (breakfast, snacks all day, wine/cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres, desserts and cordials). If you want a jacuzzi, the Grand Floridian has a great spa and if you stay at the Polynesian, it's a lovely walk to the Floridian spa! (FM me if you want ANY Disney info...I've gone at least twice a year since 1980!!! Yep, I'm a Disney freak :)

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
my fiance is actually the one who wants to go to Disney! Now that I'm planning it, I'm looking more and more forward to it! I'll tell my fiance to talk to yours! lol. I hear they treat you like royalty on your honeymoon. And... BONUS... no jet lag! Or worries about drinking the water! We'll be staying in a one bedroom villa at Disney's Beach Club villas. King bed, whirlpool tub, hopefully a view of Epcot. I can't wait! We were looking at the Grand Floridian with the concierge service, but with those prices, we could go to Italy! (which we'll also do one day). I can't wait... and now I'm planning on playing "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" during the cake cutting, just to tie it all in! I wish the wedding was TOMORROW! So exciting! (I'll update you on everything Crescent as I go... isn't it so beautiful?!!)

I'm going to Disney for my honeymoon too. I can't wait to hear your reviews when you get back. I'm so excited. I just love going there, we always have soo much fun and we got engaged there. I'm not a beach person, we are probably going to take some extra time there and do swimming with the dolphins at Sea world and go to universal for a day since we have never done that before.

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
Is "Discover Cove" at Sea World? I want to swim with the dolphins, too... it's just so "honeymoony!". So, I guess that would require a rental car? What do you think?
I'll let you know all about my honeymoon when I get back... I wish I was going today!

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
Discovery Cove is part of sea world my sister did it with a her girl scout troup this summer and the picture was just so awesome, I have always wanted to do it. A woman I work with daughter did it on her honeymoon, she said to try and book as soon as possible b/c the dates fill up fast. We are probably going to rent a car for just two days so we can do some things outside of Disney that we haven't done before.

Disney hotels offer shuttles to other attractions in the area, so you might want to check on that. (I don't remember if we had to pay extra for that, but I had taken one of their shuttles to Sea World and Universal Studios)

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
oh! VERY good to know! Thank you! I have a friend who is trying to talk me into renting a car to go buy water and snacks and champagne and stuff for the room, but I really don't want to have to deal with ANYTHING except enjoying ourselves on our honeymoon! Shuttle service to other attractions would be nice.. I'll ask! thank you, again!

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
We went to the Bahamas and then Disney for our HM and tossed around the idea of getting a car with our package then decided no....we actually almost got one in the airport b/c DH has never been to Disney and couldn't imagine being without a car for the whole time we were there. We ended up not getting a car and NEVER missed it!!! We bought water/snacks and wine in the gift shop at the Animal Kindgom Lodge where we stayed.
One night we were really dressed up to go to dinner at Victoria and Alberts in Grand Floridian and didn't feel like taking the shuttle so we took a cab and I think it was aroung $10 each way--well worth it for a nice town car, and he stopped at the mini-mart in the gas station on the way back to the hotel so we could get some stuff. Other than that we used the Disney shuttle for everything. Have a great time!!!! I want to go back!!!!!!

Cabs are available everywhere. I think their number is 699-9999! A little more expensive than NYC cabs, but convenient.

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
fh & i have go to disney every year.. don't forget grand floridian has the monorail which is a major perk..it has ac not many people take it b/c you have to be a guest of the hotel where they have it.. i think they polynesian and the grandd floridian has it.. if you do rent a car and you are staying on disney property you get a pass for you car so you don't have to pay for parking when you get to parks..
fh and i got a car 1 time another time we didn't and we could definalty notice the difference..(just my opinion)
we did go to the grocery store and get snack and water and stuff.. it can get expensive if your staying a long period and get snacks everynight... but it's your honeymoon
we have a bad habit of going to disney when they have a hurrican(2 years in a row, were not going this year;O))
there are some really awsome restaurnats in the parks. i happend to really like coral reef it's liek your eating dinner in a big fish tank it's so cool to see the fish swimming right next to you..,mgm if you go to the italiana restaurant you get priority seating for the water light show.
FM me if you want more info

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
We went to disney a couple of times Make some lunch/dinner reservations ahead of time. It is so much easier to know what you are going to be doing and don't have to worry about not going to the "good" places.
2) Make a reservation for the Rose and Thistle in England (EPCOT) around sunset. It is the best place to see the fireworks/water show. (one of the best things we did)
3) Make a reservation at the Living Seas restaurant (Epcot)
4) go to the Adventurer's Club in Pleasure Island. It looks kinda dull. Wait!!!! They have shows and it's a ton of fun. we hung out there many many nights
5) Make a lunch reservation at Cinderella's castle. It's fantastic. Lunch is less busy than breakfast and dinner. Not guaranteed to see the princess but I did!
6) MGM has great places for lunch. Primetime Cafe and Sci Fi Drive in are both really cool
7) Go to the boardwark to the flying fish restaurant. Fantastic steak.
8) Fast pass everything. This way you can plan your day. If you get good at fast passing, you never have to wait on lines.
9) Play a drinking game of around the world in Epcot. Start off in Mexico and have a drink at every country. We only made it to Germany.
If you want to know anything else, just FM me. We also ate in ( i forgot some of the names ): Japan (Epcot) Italy (Epcot) Lady and the Tramp restaurant (MK) the paddle boat near pleasure island
OH YEAH: If you have time go to the water parks. they're fun and relaxing. we even went scuba-snorkling there.

Re: Advice for Disney World Honeymoon?
I'm going to Disney too for half of my honeymoon. We're staying at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. Anyone know what ticket combo would be the best for 3 days including all parks and Paradise Island? I'm not sure if I should be getting the Park Hopper option or Magic Your Way option or what. Trying to get the best deal. Feel free to FM me if ya like. TIA!

I'm not going to Disney, but just to let you know, there is like a 3-year waiting list for Discovery Cove. They let in very few people each day, and its by reservation only. Its not like the other orlando parks at all. It is run by sea world, though.

We want to go to Walt Disney World for our Honeymoon also. We spoke with a travel agent. She mentioned the Port Orleans Resort French Quarter as a romantic but affordable resort. She said that we could book in September/October 2006 for 2007. I still have so many questions like where do you get the bride and groom mouse ears?

I know when I was down there, when we got engaged they sold them in most of the shops that sell the mouse ears.
