What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

Hi ladies, just wanna get an idea of what you guys are all paying for your bridesmaids. Also will you be giving them gifts if you pay for both their dress, hair and makeup?

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

I got each of them $50 gift cards at their favorite salons, (where I knew they'd be doing their hair/mup) and also spent $150 on each gift. I got 2 of them diamond and pearl studs and the other a circle of love diamond pendant. I also paid for my MOH's makeup by Oksana.

(I did not pay for their dresses) But paid to have their shoes dyed. :)

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

I bought their dresses.

ETA: I didn't require them to get their hair or make up done. Dresses were purchased because the custom made jewelry I bought them was very inexpensive...so I was lost on what else to get them and since I got such an amazing deal from Netbride.com I decided their gowns would be a good addition to their gifts. They paid for or did their own alterations. Oh...and it was only two girls...my MOH was my Cousin/Godmother and my BM was DH's Sister.
We also paid for 100% of the wedding by ourselves.

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

I paid for their hair, but that was considered part of their gifts. They did their own makeup - I didn't require them to get it done professionally. I did get them small things in addition: a tote bag, earrings, and Sugar lip glosses.

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

they are on their own - im buying them jewelery to wear the day of - and im letting them get their hair done wherever they want (and if they want to get their makeup done)

Im used to paying everything on my own from being a BM and a MOH - so I know they wont mind ...

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

I too would love to even help pay for hair and make-up to be done here with me the day of, but it's going to be too much $$$ for me.

I am having enough trouble getting FH to "let" me buy them jewelry and a little something extra!

Not bad at all! I only had 3 BMs--my sister (MOH), DH's sister, and my best friend so I was able to go all out! I loved their gifts. SIL wears the circle pendant every day!

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

I thought I only was supposed to buy them a gift. Their dresses weren't expensive. I tried to choose a dress that I really liked and that wouldn't break their banks. I'll probably buy them a jewelry set. My mother is paying for the whole shower. None of them were asked to contribute. They will probably buy me some drinks at my bachelorette party though.

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

Unfortunately, they were on t heir own. I spent over $100 on each BM and over $200 on the MOH. I didn't require that they get their make up or hair done and also allowed them to wear whatever style silver shoe they wanted.

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

We're paying for the wedding. They can handle the dress. As for hair and MU I'm giving them the choice if they want to have it done professionally or do it themselves. That being said, they're on their own. There's no way I can afford to pay for them, we've already got enough $$ going towards this one day.

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

They picked their own gowns, I just ask them to find any silver shoe they want to wear and I told them to wear their hair and makeup however they wished. I wanted to keep the gifts as their gifts, and not have anything go towards the day of as a part of their gifts, so they'll be on their own for what they choose to wear that day.

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

Wow, sounds like alot of brides are leaving the bridesmaid to pay for their own dress, hair and makeup. That makes it easier on me...

When my MOH had her wedding, she paid for her girls bridesmaids dresses and hair/makeup and even took them out for dinner. I felt bad hearing her say that as it makes me feel cheap if I didnt do ALL three. :P

But ya know, she didnt have to pay through the nose for her wedding like I will be, so screw it, I should just pay for my girls dresses, buy them a small gift and let them do what they want with makeup and hair, right?

Re: What Are You Helping The Bridesmaids Pay?

They are on their own. We are paying for our own wedding, so we don't have to money to pay for anything, but gifts for the bridal party. My girls know that when they accepted the the honor of being apart of my wedding that costs were associated with that. If we could we would, but we can't. I'm not requiring them to get professional make up of hair done, but I would like it if they could.
