Check that bounced...
Maybe this is a silly question.. One of the checks we received as a wedding gift bounced a few weeks back. It was for a sizeable amount. The check could have come from one of two people---neither have said anything. What do you do in this situation??? I've never experienced this before!

Re: Check that bounced...
I'd wait for them to say something, they will know it bounced since they'll get charged fees and such.

Re: Check that bounced...
tough one. Afraid there's not much you can do unless you have the guts to call and ask them....which I could never do!
The bank didn't notify you who the check was from?
The person who bounced the check knew about it before you...so there really isn't much you can do unless they ask you to resubmit it!
How embarassing....

Re: Check that bounced...
It happened to us as well, but the person that did called and told us that they realized that it was going to happen, they reimbursed us for it and replaced it. I think you should let the person know. They might not even know it happened. Let us know how it goes

Re: Check that bounced...
it happened to us. We also didn't know who it was for a few weeks until the check got sent back to us. We re-deposited the check (didn't even know you could do that) and it cleared the second time. We didn't want to call up the guests and embarass them further (the bank notifies you when you bounce a check so they already knew). They never mentioned it to us.
we didn't get charged any fees, but I would never ask the guest who gave us $300 to reimburse the $10 fee. (totally different if they offer to).

I think you can try to re-deposit it again. They will know if it bounces, so if it were me, I wouldn't call them.

Re: Check that bounced...
The person who gave the bounced check gets charged too, so uless they are not checking they should have already known about it

Re: Check that bounced...
Two people bounced checks on us. They were my husband's aunt and cousin. He called them to let them know. It was akward but he wanted to do it. I wouldn't have if it were my family. I wouldn't try to redeposit it because if it bounces again, you have to pay another fee

Re: Check that bounced...
If you can go to the bank ot came from you can cash it against the account.
