My 07-29-07 Wedding Review. I loved all my vendors!
I want to apologize for taking so long to write this but I really wanted to do a review of our wedding. I’ve read so many reviews on LI Weddings and they were all so helpful, so I wanted to contribute mine to share with future brides.
First I want to say thank you to all my vendors, they all did an amazing job.

Consultants Mel & Kelly helped set me up with a great wedding package. They provided a total top of the line package and never nickeled or dimed me. Manager George, Maitre D' Sondra, and Bridal Attendant Lizette - these great people helped make our day amazing! They saw to every detail and made sure my day was everything I could hope for.
I fell in love with the place the moment I saw it. I knew this is where I wanted to get married. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with the flowers, streams, bridges and cute little paths. I had my ceremony, cocktail hour and reception there.
The Maitre D' and Bridal attendant met my bridal party and me as we stepped out of our limo. They generously allowed us access to the grounds and bridal suite for photos 3 hours before the ceremony! The staff was amazing they had bagels, pastries and fruit on the table outside along with drinks when we arrived.
The ceremony was perfect. White chairs set up amidst a sea of greenery and flowers - very private. The aisle was lined with cherub statues holding baskets of white flowers, linked with tulle floating along the aisle. At the end of the aisle where the Pastor performed the ceremony was a beautiful arbor decorated with vines and topped with a huge white floral spray. It was the perfect garden chapel, nestled just outside the French doors of our reception room. Guests who arrived early were treated to coffee, tea and danish - a very gracious touch!
The reception was in the Manor Room and it was elegant and classy. We had 168 guests and we were very comfortable in that room. The dance floor was more than ample and had been freshly refinished. The wood floor glowed as it reflected the beautiful chandeliers. There were two bars on either side of the room, and beautiful beveled glass windows looking out onto the gardens. Every seat had a clear view of us, at our special table, and of the dance floor. The table linens and chair covers were very elegant. The food was amazing. My guests raved about the food for weeks! One couple enjoyed the wedding so much they booked their own wedding at Westbury Manor shortly after attending ours!

Okay, so these guys are my favorite vendor. Michael and Paul were so amazing and fun to work with. They totally made my camera shy groom, and I feel comfortable and relaxed. Michael does more of the photojournalistic pictures, while Paul does more of the portraits. Even Laura, who works in the studio, was awesome. She always returned my phone calls and e-mails and was so great to work with.
Michael did my engagement photos, he said I could pick anywhere and I picked Central Park in NYC. He found the location and knew all the right spots to hit. He also let us run to the bathroom and do a costume change and then take pictures at Columbus circle. Those are some of my favorite pictures, just standing in the streets of NYC. My husband HATES getting his picture taken (I mean HATES) and Michael made the day so much fun that at the end he actually said he had fun. A few days after our photo shoot Michael e-mailed me a link of all the pictures. I was very impressed at the quality of the photos he took and the speed in which he had them posted on line for me to see. My mom snuck a few of these great photos and put them up around the room of my bridal shower. The photos were a huge hit - everyone loved them!
Michael and Paul both took pictures at out wedding. They were at the WM before I was already for me as I got out of the limo. They worked really well together. While Paul was setting up a portrait shot Michael was behind some tree or rock taking the candid shots of me and my parents or me and my girls talking, laughing and just having fun. During the ceremony Paul was outside by the pastor waiting for the doors to open while Michael was inside with me. It's so nice to look back and see myself walking down the aisle from two different perspectives. Throughout the day Michael was running around taking the photojournalistic shots (those are some of my favorite pictures), while Paul was taking the different group shots. I had made a list of everyone I wanted photos of (families, groups of friends and co-workers) and he made sure everyone of them was checked off. Thank you, Michael and Paul.

I really thought I didn’t want a video because I hate to see myself on video, but my mom found Regal Bridal and the owner, Lisa, understood what I did and did not want, and set me up with the perfect videographer. She set me up with Edward Zilberman because we were adamant about wanting a videographer to blend in and not get in our guests faces; someone to chronicle the day for us, to capture the little things I missed as well as the important moments. Edward listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly. I have to say I barely even remember seeing him there, he wasn’t in the way, he did his job quietly and professionally and the end product was AMAZING! He had arrived at WM early and got footage of the magnificent grounds and used it in the intro of the video. The little moments and details that he caught in the video were so special and so well put together that I can’t even imagine not having him there. He really captured the day, put in creative, artistic touches, and set it to really great music. Regal Bridal provided me with a beautiful DVD of memories I will cherish forever. My mom heard about her from a co-worker and when I checked her out here on LI Weddings I was impressed with all the positive reviews. I got my dress, my bridesmaid’s dresses, the flower girls dress, my shoes, my veil and all the alterations from Phyllis. Her prices and service were excellent!
I was extremely happy with everything. All the bridesmaids’ dresses and flower girls dress fit perfectly and I know it was a difficult material to work with. My dress fit to perfection, it wasn’t too tight but hugged in all the right places. My veil was beautiful with just a single row of crystals at the edge. My shoes were the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in my entire life. The satin at the front of the toe made all the difference as it just molded to my feet. I also liked that she had great store hours. Every one of my girls was able to make an appointment that worked for them. She had night appointments as well as weekends, which made things that much easier. Thank you, Phyllis.

I LOVE flowers and I love color! I love so many flowers that I was stuck for ideas of what to pick. I knew I wanted this green Orchid that I had seen on LI Weddings, but didn’t know what else to put with it. I brought the picture and a swatch from the bridesmaids dress and Ray came up with the rest. He picked a coral Gerber Daisy (he didn’t even know that this is one of my favorite flowers) and a hot pink Rose paired with other beautiful filler flowers. My bo-ks were AMAZING!!! I absolutely LOVED them. I love the way they photographed against the girls dresses as well as how they looked with my dress. He also made that cute headband for the flower girl. We did just a single green Orchid for the groomsmen and it was perfect! He even decorated my wedding cake with green Orchids for a very elegant, yet exotic look. Thank you, Ray.
Make-up – Make-up Artist Gina Paulson

Gina is a Mac make-up artist. When I had my trial I told her that I wanted to look like I usually do, just better. I don’t wear a lot of makeup normally and I wanted to look natural, but with subtle drama. She picked out all the colors that would compliment my skin tones and accent my eyes. I loved that she used the fake eyelashes just in the corners to make it just a little more dramatic. The morning of the wedding, she showed up at my house promptly to do my makeup (and my sister’s and mom’s as well). She had such a happy, calming effect on me and my family - there was no drama, no surprises, she did it exactly like she did at the trial. She even brought a camera and took some pictures as she was working on me so I could see how the make-up would look in a photograph. I couldn’t believe that she took the time to do that. I never heard of anyone ever doing that, but it made a lot of sense. I loved the way she did my make-up – so natural, yet really beautiful (my sister and mom were thrilled as well with their results). Thank you, Gina.

I’ve gotten my nails done at this salon for the past 2 years and they are great (and very reasonably priced). I asked for a French manicure and pedicure and they took such care and time with me that many people thought I had tips put on – that’s how perfect they looked. They have a spa pedicure with a 15-minute foot and leg massage that’s to die for! In my wedding photos of my feet in my sexy shoes (had to have a photo of them) you can see how amazing my toes look! I only had 4 girls in my bridal party so I wanted to get them something of good quality, something special that they could wear that day but also would wear again. I saw this silver necklace in the showcase and asked to see it (the sales person who didn’t know how many I needed or what I needed them for) said “Oh, that necklace is very special it stands for eternal friendship”, with that said I was like “okay, I’ll take 3 of them and 1 of the larger size for the Maid of Honor”. The sales person was so nice and really took the time to wrap each one and made sure the bow was perfect on every box (even while a rude customer was trying to steal her attention) I was so excited to get my girls these necklaces they were so special and who doesn’t love opening a Tiffany’s box! I also bought my mom a special Tiffany ring in sterling silver with yellow gold Xs to thank her for all her help and support, which she just LOVED! Thank you, Buthaina.

This is where my family and I have bought jewelry since I can remember. Everything I own is from Good Old Gold. Eric got my engagement ring and wedding bands at Good Old Gold. Marie was so great to work with she really helped me narrow down what I was looking for and pointed me in the right direction. She is so great to work with – never pushy, yet very knowledgeable and patient. I really was so pleased with what we selected, and though I was hesitant to splurge on the eternity band, I’m so glad I did. I love wearing it and would have regretted not getting it just to save a few bucks. Eric purchased my diamond necklace from GOG as well. The modern take on an antique style of the necklace went perfectly with the style and cut of the wedding gown. Thank you, Marie.

The music was SO important to me because it can really make (or ruin) the reception. I didn’t want someone who was going to be yelling at the guest on the mic and being the center of attention. The first time I met Michael he said to Eric and me “If you are looking for someone to be yelling at your guests and be the center of attention then I’m not for you.” I was sold as soon as I heard those words. Michael has such state of the art equipment that I was truly impressed with what he showed at our first meeting. He transitioned one song to the next so beautifully that you never missed a step. Michael did just want I asked for. He kept everyone on the dance floor and having a blast. Thank you, Michael.

I just have to mention my Bridal Shower, because it was really everything I could have hoped for. My mom and bridesmaids arranged for my surprise bridal shower to be held at Captain Bill's in Bayshore in the Harborview Room. The room was gorgeous, with huge windows bringing the water views right inside. The room had a beautiful fireplace with a mantle that they displayed my engagement and baby photos on for a very homey touch. There was plenty of room for the 60 guests and there was even a deck guests could access for fresh air and sunshine. It was a luncheon but the menu options included top of the line choices: Prime Rib, Filet of Sole with Lobster Sauce, and my favorite, Chicken Marsala. The guests raved about the room, the food and the service. Many guests said it was one of the best showers they'd ever attended. I had a blast! Thank you, Captain Bill's.
