First Time Home Buyer Question?

Would you guys please recommend what bank gave you the best rates and assistance. It's all so confusing. We are going to start looking but I don't know where to start. My biggest fear is that there going to tell me I can't afford even a shoe to live in. I need someone who works with first time buyers and will be generous with information.

Re: First Time Home Buyer Question?

all of my home-owning co-workers recommend teachers FCU for low interest rates. i also know that bank of america has a decent first-time buyers program, so you might want to look into that too.

Re: First Time Home Buyer Question?

If you have a mortgage broker, then when they check your credit, they can find the best possible rate for you. It all depends on the bank, the length of your loan, your credit score, etc.

Re: First Time Home Buyer Question?

We went through Bethpage Federal Credit Union. They had really good rates and were very fast. Part of the deal we made with the homeowners was that we would get our mortgage within a month and we had no problems getting approved. We went to contract on 10/22 and closed 12/7. They moved everything along really quickly and at the time had some of the lowest rates going.

this is what i heard - i heard that going directly to a bank will cost you less than going through a broker because brokers tack on a lot of fees

Do you have to be a member of the Teachers FCU to use them for a loan?

Re: First Time Home Buyer Question?

There are certain criteria to qualify for first time home buyer programs. If you make too much you can't do it.
