Re: Honest Opinions on reception hallsPosted by bkbaby4life Posted by Amor2009 Thank you everyone! We looked the WCC and thought the place was really nice and my parents have been to a wedding their and said the service and food was outstanding. My only issue is that we are planning a late fall/early winter wedding and I just felt we wouldn't get to utilize their beautiful grounds. We also went to Jericho terrace-- and at first i was in love. But, the guarantee requested was higher then what we expected, which made us feel the place was too big for what we are looking for and not as homey. Fox hollow is what we are looking for as far as the homey feel. The room we would get is the smaller room and the cocktail hour is the winter pavillian room. The dance floor is a nice size-- but the area where the band or dj sets up is off to the side not near the dance floor. I don't know if that should be a concern or not.

Re: Honest Opinions on reception hallsHave you thought about looking into the Garden Terrace room at Fox Hollow instead? I loved Fox Hollow but I liked the Garden Terrace room better... so they told me i could get that room if i could have guaranteed more people (unfortunately for us we couldnt make the guarantee for a Sat night, so we switched to a daytime wedding so we could be more flexible w/ the guarantee!) good luck!

Re: Honest Opinions on reception hallsPosted by stinenandy2010 I am booked at Fox Hollow and I totally know what your saying about the band/dj problem off to the side. That was my main reservation about that room. When I booked my band, they knew the room very well and know how to set up. Most band/djs know that they have to put the speakers on either side of the staircase, this way the people sitting at the table at not blown away. As for feelng dark and gloomy, its a matter of opinion. Personally I find a lot of places tacky with all that marble....but thats MY opinion. I think the Briar Fox room is very pretty with the fireplace and the dark wood, I've seen it in pictures of fellow brides weddings and its amazing. I admit that I was not crazy about it the first time I saw it, but when its set for a wedding, it feels like a different room. That's why I choose fox hollow, its beauitful and not over-done. It does feel very homey and i loved the winter garden room for my cocktail hour.

Re: Honest Opinions on reception hallsPosted by brideinstride i am telling you right now .. you have NOTHING to worry about... it was the most perfect room... and the DJ thing... it actually is BETTER to have it where he is... he is out of the way from everyone! and its pefect ! dont get upset. over someone being completely rude. and bashing a recepton room..

Re: Honest Opinions on reception hallsWe're getting married at the Royalton. I wanted a mansion/homey feel and it's perfect. They throw in a lot of things that were extra at other places and all of the food is completely customizable. The staff has been fantastic so far. We even got to do a tasting and the food is out of this world! | |||

Re: Honest Opinions on reception hallsPosted by Amor2009 Thanks again everyone! I am going to check out all the suggestions. I really liked the room in the fox hollow-- I had just never seen the dj or band away from the dance floor. But it doesn't seem like a problem and the dj or band are professions so I am sure they know what to do! I think I will go back and look again. Thanks again for all the great suggestions.

Re: Honest Opinions on reception hallsPosted by brideinstride THANK YOU. As for the girls that DID get offended by my comment, I will reiterate, that was MY opinion. I said "WE PERSONALLY" meaning MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF - NO ONE ELSE. As I also said earlier, I REALLY REALLY liked the FH - we went back three times because we were so seriously considering getting married there. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful, but the BF room was not to OUR liking. Does that mean that other girls don't, can't or shouldn't like it? Of course not!!!!! Can we all please grow up!! The op was asking for HONEST OPINIONS and I gave her MINE. Do you want to know what people hve said about the hall I got married at? I've heard that it's prommy, old fashioned and tacky. Does that bother me? NO - because everyone is entitled to their own opinion! ETA - to the op - I'm sorry to have ruined your thread. I always forget how childish soon-to-be-married women can be.
