Back from our HM! With lots of pics for Sandals St. Lucia girls!!!!!
St. Lucia is a BEAUTIFUL island and I'm so happy we decided to go there on our HM! I'm especially happy we stayed at Sandals, bc if we'd stayed anywhere else I might have felt a little unsafe and/or starved to death.
We stayed at the Grande and loved it. We went to the Regency for dinner a few times and that was really pretty too. If you're debating between the two: The Grande has a much bigger, nicer beach and everything is centrally located. The Regency is a lot more spread out (but they have shuttles everywhere) and has more of a tropical feel. It seems like the Regency has the better restaurants though. Oh and the Halcyon was cute but much smaller than the other two.
A few tips:
*The ride to and from the airport was def the worst part of the trip. DH and I normally don't get carsick at all, but the hour and a half ride is like being on a roller coaster - up and down mountains and super curvy roads. Take some Dramamine or have a drink first! (We took a private car on the way back but it wasn't much better since he drove about 120 mph.)
*Make reservations for things the first or second day you're there. We were able to get reservations at La Toq and Kimonos (restaurants at the Regency) bc we made them the first day, but a lot of other people we met weren't able to. They give people staying at the Regency preference so it's harder to get reservations if you don't stay there.
*We did the horseback riding and zipline excursions and they were both great. (zipline was a really far bus ride though.)
*Definitely be careful with your hotel choice if it's not Sandals. There was one hotel we saw when we went horseback riding that was right on the beach, but their beach was covered in horse poop!

The pool at the Grande - it's not normally this empty but they were doing a photo shoot so they closed it for the day. (kind of s*cky)

There are random animals everywhere - these cows were in the middle of a traffic roundabout!

I would def sit in the front of the van instead of in the back... and if you warn the driver that you get sick beforehand maybe that will get them to slow down.
But don't worry, it's worth it once you get there.
