i would def call fox hollow about this and argue that!! get them to waver it were paying sooo much money i think they can handle it....i honestly dont even want them to put tvs in the room i think its going to take away from home beautiful the room is! we need to start a petition!! NO TVS!!

Hi girls!

So, my cousin's neighbor got married at the Fox Hollow last night. When my cousin told her that FH and I booked our wedding there for next year, she invited me to come to her cocktail hour to sample the food since Fox Hollow doesn't do a formal tasting! At first I was a little hesitant to go because I felt like a wedding crasher, but the bride insisted so I went and I'm really happy that I did!! Here are my impressions:

The cocktail hour was in a small room to the left of the elevators on the main floor and down a few steps to the right. I have no idea what the name of the room is because it's not where my cocktail hour is going to be, but it was a really nice room. for a cocktail hour and held the crowd comfortably. (I think she had around 100-125 people)

The food was amazing. Everything that I ate was really REALLY good. The fried calamari was delicious and I was worried about having it for my cocktail hour because if it sits out too long it can get rubbery and gross. Not the case, it was crispy and delicious. The eggplant rollatini and veal marsala were also really good. She also had the paella and platanos - I can't eat shellfish but my cousin said the paella was yummy and I tried the platanos which were really delicious. For the carving stations she had the turkey and the steak which were ok, but I'm never overly impressed with carved meats at a cocktail hour.

The cold displays were nice, I felt that the presentation of all of the items could have been a little bit nicer but overall it looked fine. The fresh mozzarella was really good, and I liked their bread display that had all these yummy Italian baked breads and pies. Really really good!

As for the hot hors d'oeuvres, I had the beef sate, which was really good and had a nice sweet flavor to it and was not tough at all. I also tried the rice balls which were good and my cousins had the coconut shrimp which they said was really delicious.

My two main concerns were this - first, I barely saw any of the hot passed hors d'ouevres going around. It seemed like there was only one waitress walking around with the passed appetizers, so it was one tray of one item at a time and then you never saw that item again for the rest of the night. I definitely did not see all of the items that were listed in their menu during the hour. Also the waitress didn't seem to know what exactly it was they were passing around sometimes when I asked which was also concerning namely because I have a shellfish allergy.

Second, for some reason I pictured that the hot stations would be set up separately around the room and that foods from the same category would be kept together. Last night they just had 8 hot chafing dishes set up in a line with no separation by the type of food. For example, the Paella and the Platanos which were both from the Spanish station were nowhere near each other. That kinda bothered me a bit since when I read the menu I envisioned separate stations for each category of food. (I went to a wedding recently at the Crest Hollow where each station was separated by the ethnicity and was decorated accordingly and it looked great.) Also having the 8 hot dishes together in one corner of the room kinda made the whole cocktail hour look sparse since there were really just two places where food was set up.

Do you think that any of these concerns are things that could be addressed with the Fox Hollow when I go to finalize my menu, etc. I don't want to sound too crazy, but I feel like those were things that definitely stood out to me in a negative light last night!

Also, I had a chance to see the WGP all set up and it looked so beautiful with the lights dimmed and the fireplace going and the tables all set up. It is such a gorgeous room and I'm so excited that our reception is going to be in there.

So anyway, I hope this doesn't just sound like a crazy rant and may help some of you other Fox Hollow ladies!! :)

(PS - I might post later with an update on the dinner food once I hear from my cousins about how the rest of the wedding went.)

No ur def not crazy!!!!! I'm nervous about that now too lol I want each station together...I think all us fox hollow brides are picky and annoy them lol I call alll the time hahahah oh well!!

Okay, good I'm glad it's not just me! I felt like the whole purpose of having stations is so that they were separate since it's different categories of food! Argh!



Since I'm not getting married there until late next year, I'll address it with them the next time I go in there to drop off a deposit. If you happen to talk to them between now and then let me know what they say! :)

Since you got to see WGP all done up, just out of curiosity, what kind of centerpieces did they use? All high, low, a mix? Just wondering how it looked.

She had high centerpieces with long-stemmed calla lilies and I thought they looked pretty. They were really tall so I felt like they became the focus point of the room.

Have you thought about what you want to do for centerpieces? I normally like low centerpieces, but I'm kinda torn. I feel like the room itself is so beautiful that low centerpieces would be good because they wouldn't take away from the beauty of the room. But on the other hand, I don't know if the room calls for higher centerpieces because of how high the ceilings are. Maybe a mix of both would work...I dunno!

I hope that the stations are not separated and i will address that closer to the date. But if any of you find out please let us know.

As far as centerpieces I think high cnterpieces go best in that room because of the high ceiling. All the weddings that ive seen in Pics or person that i found the most beautiful had the high ones. It added to the drama of the room as long as it not insane lol. Low centerpieces will not be as noticed in WGP room unless you do a mix of highs and lows. Totally my opinion.

When i recently booked with Fox Hollow, Ken said that the lighting is included. However, only ONE color for the entire night is included. If I wanted the colors the change throughout the night, I can pay extra.

As far as the TV's, I was under the impression that the TV's will be behind the walls unless we were using them....? Seeing blank screens on the wall is not too attractive.

Would love to know more.

I had my cocktail hour in the WGP room and my guests also said the same about everything being set up together (instead of having the ethnic stations separated) so things got crowded/ it would have looked better separate and some guests barely saw the waiters passing the hors d'ouevres which I was totally disappointed about! Make sure you bring this up during your final meeting because I think it's silly to show all these amazing foods that will be passed around with "white glove service" but no one gets to eat these foods!



To answer the Somerley question, since we were originally booked in the Briar Fox Room, we kept our cocktail hour in the WGP instead of changing to the other room. So my guests went from the outside ceremony through the front doors to the WGP then walked through Fox Hollow to the Somerley (instead of walking around outside.

I'm so happy that I posted about this on here and that it wasn't just me being a bridezilla about the cocktail hour!!! When we go in at the end of the month to drop off our next deposit I'm going to address it with our BM and see what he says. I'll also make sure to bring it up at our final meeting when I will probably have my DOC there with me so that they know it's something that she will be on the lookout for that night as well.

FH and I won a gift certificate for a night at Fox Hollow and dinner for two at their restaurant...we have off for the next few days and decided to use it tonight! I'll be sure to post tomorrow and let you ladies know how it was!

I have a question about linens. Do you know if they offer grayish/silver linens. My colors are navy blue and silver and don't want to do blue table cloths because it will be too dark, but then the ivory ones seem so plain. i was also thinking of ivory table cloths with blue napkins...ideas?

Another question, what color are the chairs in the WGP, when I went I saw them white. Wondering if they have them in silver....

Does anyone know if bathroom baskets are supllied at the Fox hollow. Should I be going out to buy toiletries and just supply my own baskets??? I don't know if this matters or not but my reception is in the garden terrace

so we went to Fox Hollow and stayed in the hotel and had dinner at the restaurant. Everything was absolutley amazing. We were so impressed with the food and service. After dinner we wanted to sneak a peek at the Somerley. The room gets better everytime we see it!!

The hotel was stunning. The room was so clean....I never wanted to leave that comfy bed! Looking forward to doing it all over again on our wedding night!
