How Do I Word My Thank You's

Hey Girls,

I need some advice on wording my thank you’s. They should be in by next week so I’m just thinking about how to word them and came up with some ideas. If you have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to tell me them, I could use the help……..What do you think of the following:

1. (Those who attended) Thank you for the generous wedding gift and for sharing in our special day. Your thoughtfulness was very much appreciated.

Or Instead of “sharing in our special day” should it be “being a part of our special day” And also should I put “thank you for your generous” or “thank you for the Generous” I didn’t want to use the word “your” twice. Sounded repetitive to me. Or is the way I have it just fine the way it is…..

2. (Those who did attend and gave a gift-Cash or Check) Thank you for the generous wedding gift. Your thoughtfulness was very much appreciated.

3. (Those who did attend and gave a gift from bridal registry) Thank you for the lovely wedding gift. Your thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. Instead of lovely should I put beautiful?

4. For those who gave crapola I want to put “thank you for your inadequate gift, your rudeness was very much appreciated”……LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Of course I have special thank you’s for special people…

5. Those that attended or did not attend but sent/gave cards only--no monetary or wrapped gifts. "Thank you for your wedding card. Your card will always have a place in our wedding scrapbook to be adored for years to come." We had several of these card only and not attend guests, no monetary or wrapped gifts guests.

in general, i wrote something like

for those who attended:
thank you for sharing in our special day, and thank you for your <very> generous gift. we hope you had a wonderful time!

if did not attend:
thank you for your generous gift. we know you were with us on our special day in spirit.

did attend, no gift:
thank you for sharing in our special day. we hope you had a wonderful time!

any thank you should state
1. the gift (generous gift is better than money) and how you will use it...to purchase the rest of your china...to go into a house fund)
2. it was great to see them...sorry that they couldn't make it (we had a drink for you)
3. thank again

Here's a great link to verseit.com which has a ton of wordings for your TY's. I used several different ones to give them a more personal feel!

We had a few people not even give us a card. We simply wrote thank you for being with us on our wedding day.
We also had those who said they would come and didn't show up or call us after to apologize.
They can kiss my *&%!

I used a bit of a generic "Thank you so much for the generous gift...." and then added a personal touch... like one couple danced all afternoon.. I added that to their card and when my aunt and uncle and dh's aunt and uncle "fought" for the anniversary bo-k, I added something about that in their card.

I changed mine up a bit like

"thank you for the generous gift. It will come in handy as we begin to look for our new home"

"we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did"

"Having you there to celebrate our special day meant a lot to us"

"Thank you for the generous gift. It was great seeing you all again"

"Thank you for the wonderful bar set. We can't wait to use it for our next celebration"

"We appreciate you coming to celebrate this amazing moment with us"

I know they are all sorta generic, but I got bored with the traditional sayings.

This was really helpful - I'm going to add another question - if I sent 3 invitations to a house (adult children) but the card and gift was signed from everyone living in the house - do you just send one thank you to the house or stick to your invitation list?

We had people who showed who didn't even give a blank card

People who were no shows

People who said they forgot the gift, but have yet to send it.....

I don't know what to write to these people!!! Especially the no shows (who I don't think I will send ANYTHING to!) and the people who said they forgot their gift & haven't sent it yet!
