Life Insurance

I've only been married for a couple of months and the other day the life insurance conversation casually came up and my husband proceeds to tell me how he has 67% of it going to his parents and the rest to me. Am I wrong for thinking that is messed up. I was absolutely devastated, it has nothing to do with the $ it's just the principle. I have never heard of something like that when a guy is married.

Life Insurance

It's definitely weird. If he wanted to give to his parents that is fine but why not make it 50/50? Also, why not take a different policy out and make you the beneficiary? Do you own a home together?

Life Insurance

Our life insurance is based on the amount one would need to replace should something happen to the other one. If you are paying for life insurance to support other people, then I think he's overpaying, unless he is the only son and he expects to be supporting his parents in their old age and if he dies they will need the money. However, they should have savings and life insurance for that matter, just like you have for yourselves.
