$$$$ - the big $$ question
We got married at the end of February, had a fire, and lost everything in March and bought a townhouse in April. My hubby and I work very hard, but all we can do is pay the bills. We have not been able to save a dollar since we said I do. I guess we are fortunate, in that we can pay the bills and do not miss out on anything, but I was just wondering when does the saving thing start again. I was talking to a co-worker who told me that it takes about 6 months for you to get in sync with your new budget and financial arrangements. Is anyone else experiencing this?
$$$$ - the big $$ question
We feel the same way! Although we thankfully have not experienced a fire, we cannot save to save our lives, that goes along with having 3 weddings this month alone! DOn't worry you are not alone!!!
Now you got me thinking. something to ponder over the weekend....!
$$$$ - the big $$ question
It's definitely not easy! Jamelle, you just bought a place right? It's okay to not be saving yet since you just moved in and the wedding, etc. I am renting a house right now because it's certainly not the market for me to buy. I personally don't save a dime because I have to buy everything, but you get there. My husband is saving better than I. I put a lot of my money into my company stock and 401K. This way, I never see it and I have to go on my budget. If you have that opportunity, take it, it's so worth it. I don't put a tremendous amount in the 401K, but I put in 6K last year and my company matched with 3K. This is my only savings. I cannot complain, but on my own, forget it.
talking & dreaming
It took me some time to learn that too...that just because he says something doesn't mean he's actually going to end up doing it. There is a difference...and most things that are mentioned never get brought up again. LOL THESE are the little things you learn...how to wade through what each other says and being able to understand was is REALLY being said. Its an art!
$$$$ - the big $$ question
It has been difficult...though I must admit we've pretty much recovered from the wedding. We planned a small wedding off season for that very reason. But we did buy a car in June, add in furniture, all sorts of family obligations & life's little emergencies....and we're not saving as much as we want/need. What hurts is that we're both maxing out 401Ks so that's alot of cash we don't have access to now....
We've given ourselves a little bit of breathing room and have relaxed a bit. We save what we can and are giving ourselves until our first anniversary to 'adjust'.
$$ arguements?
Yes, this may be the ONE MAJOR thing you will argue about. I have been living on my own pretty much since 22...here I am 11 years later and happily married to someone who lived at home. (!)
So, I am a big saver and he does the best he can.
He is Mr. Research, though, when we have decided what new things we really need in the home. He looks for the best model and then the best price. That doesn't mean it always works out cheaply, though! :0)
