A SPIRTIUAL OFFICIANT

I am jewsish and my fiance is catholic... We are looking to have a very special ceremony involving traditions of both religions that we find meaningful. We are definitely a spiritual couple and want to portray that during our ceremony....Anybody have any suggestions?

As each day came closer, the problems got more intense and my wife became more upset. Unfortunately some people (family & friends) can be selfish and down right nasty. This is your wedding day, as you said "the most wonderful day of your life".

June,

I am catholic and my fiance is jewish. The reverse of your situation. Anyway, we are having a reverenend and a cantor perform our ceremony. They will be incorporating both traditions from both faiths. The reverend's name is Rev. Susan Marlan. We met with her first and liked her alot. She is an Interfaith minister and very receptive to customizing the ceremony. The cantor is somebody she recommended and has worked with many times before. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you her number.

Good luck in your search for an officiant. We did have some difficulty. Many of the other rabbis we spoke to did not want to co-officiate a ceremony. We wanted both to be represented. But once we found Rev. Marlan things worked themseleves out.

That sounds great!!! I would love the info. About how much do they charge? We found an interfaith minister from Manhattan that wanted $750 plus all travel expenses...etc. It would come out to a fortune. It is an important aspect, but I don't think spending a fortune for someone to perform a meaningful ceremony is necessary. Or, maybe it is.......

Oops!! Hit the post button too soon !!

I have the information at home so I'll post it over the weekend. Since we're having 2 officiants, each one has a fee. If I remember correctly, they each charge about $500. No extras for travelling etc.

That I can understand... I just don't want to spend a fortune considering we really want a 15 minute ceremony so that we can PARTY sooner!!!

June,

Rev. Susan Marlan's phone number is 487-2447. She works out of her house in Great Neck. Give her a call, she's really easy to work with.

Our ceremony with both officiants is only 30 minutes. So, I'm sure she can do a 15 minute ceremony.
