David's Bridal- Closing??

Does anyone have a clue if something is going on with David's Bridal? Are they going out of business?

I was there last weekend looking at accessories and they made it clear that their policy on ALL items was FINAL SALE, no returns or exchanges.

Most stores only do that when they are going out of business...

I would think that it's strange for them to not allow even exchanges on items such as the bridal party flip flops, guest books, ring pillows, etc.....

That is rather annoying then... They had cute bridal party gifts, like the flip flops, but I'd hate the buy the wrong size and be unable to exchange it!!

Re: David's Bridal- Closing??

That is their return policy and always has been. One time when i went there and asked if I could exchange something I was told 'This is Davids Bridal, we don't do that here'

So, no, they are not going out of business.

Re: David's Bridal- Closing??

That's the way it's always been with them. i guess they don't want people 'borrowing' dresses and then bringing them back. Estelle's is the same way.

exactly. If you've ever been to a costume store, they have the same rules (cause they know plenty of people will just buy an outfit, wear it to their costume party, and then return it the following day). I'm sure Davids Bridal is worried about the same thing. People do buy DOJ or Shoes that they'll never wear again. It would be horrible for their business if all these ladies just thought they could return it and get back full credit after their wedding day. lol. I highly doubt they're going out of business.

ETA - I do think it's strange that you can't EXCHANGE tho. I don't see what the problem would be if they're of equal value. Like what was already mentioned - about exchanging the size of shoes. Oh well.

That's their usual return policy. I certainly hope it is not closing, because they are one of my top contenders for BM dress stores.

Re: David's Bridal- Closing??

i just purchased my gown there... and in my experience with my own sister that she needed a larger size bridal gown and they exchanged it for her and i have a friend of mine that had to get a different size gown as a bridesmaid and she was able to exchange it with no problem. so i have to say i have had nothing but a decent experience with them. i truly do not believe they are going anywhere. accessories might be different i dont know.

RE:David's Bridal- Closing??

I know this is a old thread but I now think they are closing. The reality is they most likely are going out of business.  Most in the industry agree that its past the 'if' stage and to the 'when' stage.  Big businesses like this don't notify the employees or customers before they close down...that would cause even more losses.  One day there are signs on the door and the business is done.  And lots of people (employees and customers...not to mention the creditors that they owe millions to) get screwed immediately with little help to be found anywhere.  Look at alfred angelo, although they had less retail stores than David's Bridal, they may have had more sales than them as a company.  They were the largest manufacturer of dresses and were carried by thousands of independent stores across the world (not just the 60+ branded stores they had).  If you google search Davids Bridal going bankrupt, they are listed on all the sites that post retail stores on life support.  They have more debt than they will be able to service in 2019 and the only question right now is if they'll make it that far.  Once the debt comes due, it's almost a 100% certainty that the company will be done.  But it's also more probable than not that the bankruptcy will happen much sooner than that.  The argument about them getting a new line or how big they are isn't a good argument if you look at the history of how these normally happen.  Alfred Angelo had a brand new line of dresses that never even hit the stores but were made overseas already...those all made their first appearances at the liquidation auctions.  I'm not trying to scare anyone here, but just trying to make sure that people understand that when a company gets to this point, it's definitely a roll of the dice if you are ordering something that you can't take home today.  How much of a risk?  That's hard to say, but I am extremely confident that the pain felt when alfred angelo closed 61 stores will be even greater when Davids Bridal closes 300+ stores…and when there are other great discount dress stores out there like Bridepower or Vows Bridal Outlet on the East Coast or Brilliant Bridal in the West (and plenty of others as well), I don’t think I would personally recommend any of my friends to take that risk!  But that’s just me:)
