DJ - HELP!

Has anyone ever heard of In Touch Entertainment in Deer Park. I am in desperate need of hiring a DJ. My wedding is in 4 1/2 months. I'm looking for someoneone for 2pm - 6pm on a Friday afternoon that will be reasonable in price $600.00 possibly. I don't want club music. I want fun 70's 80's and some irish and some dances. I'm also doing a Disney 1/2 hour for the kids (about 10) so their parents can eat while I dance with them for 1/2 hour. HELP!!

I too am looking for an indoor photography site. I am getting married in January so Old Westbury Gardens will let you take indoor pictures then?

Thansk for your help!

DJ - HELP!

I've hired George Marchelos from Fine Time Entertainment. He did my cousin wedding and I was very impressed - great selection of music. We chatted the following week & I found him to be very service oriented & in tune w/how an event flows and the importance of the DJ working w/the Matre D to time the music with the food etc...I hired him the following week.

I'm not into the flashy lights & the club scene or DJs that try to overpower the music. His equipment is modern, only needs a small area to set up ..... He's been in business for over 15 years so you know he's established. He's within your range so give him a call - 718-321-3162 For whatever its worth, tell him I sent you. Our wedding is this March 25th at the Carriage House @ Milleridge.

Thansk for your help!

DJ - HELP!

Kate, You can try Celebrity Music, featuring Jay Letterman. I know he's not too pricey. I think the Disney thing is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo adorable and a good idea so their parents can eat. Plus the fact I'm a Disney freak. Good Luck.

As each day came closer, the problems got more intense and my wife became more upset. Unfortunately some people (family & friends) can be selfish and down right nasty. This is your wedding day, as you said "the most wonderful day of your life".

DJ - HELP!

Thanks Jessica

I wanted to add a comment about a not so great experience I had when my fiance rented a tuxedo from Zellers. The manager was not helpful and slid a book across the counter and told me to "Pick something out". I made a handfull of hints that I am not sure, that its confusing etc etc etc, she gave no imput to help us.

So my question here is....has anyone delt with, spoken to, or been given any referals for a decent Tuxedo shop in Nassau or Suffolk county?

Hi Kate,

I'm having Celebrity Music for my wedding too. Jay Letterman (he does a show at night on WALK-FM is great. He has a website at www.celebmusic.com where you can e-mail him your details and get a quote. Or you can call.

Good Luck!

DJ - HELP!

Hi There: My brother and sister-in-law had Jay Letterman. He was okay. I don't want to put him down, but he wouldn't take any requests from my dad, the groom's father. He also played club music all night. My uncles had to leave because it was never calm. Talk to him and specify exactly what you want. Pick out some music and take requests. This isn't meant to damper anyone's choice, but I was just at a wedding he did and I'm letting you know.

I need a Baker/Designer to make me a stack of drums - cake in my fiance's drum set color. Any suggestions????? MY GROOMS CAKE

Good Luck!

DJ - HELP!

To be fair, you should ask your brother and sister-in-law if they asked that no requests be taken or not to play specific songs. I asked him when you posted this comment before because it concerned me and he said that there are brides who are very strict with the music and requests and he MUST abide by their wishes....I went to a wedding where the bride strictly forbade 90's dance music...but that was the wedding that Celebrity Music did that made me want him for my wedding. He worked around the restrictions and put on some great music. It was one of the best weddings I've ever been to. Brides - you should be complete in your restrictions for a DJ...if you don't want requests, you should say so, but you should also let the DJ know some special poeple or special songs that are ok.

Rev. Susan Marlan's phone number is 487-2447. She works out of her house in Great Neck. Give her a call, she's really easy to work with.

Our ceremony with both officiants is only 30 minutes. So, I'm sure she can do a 15 minute ceremony.

DJ - HELP!

Jenn, you are absolutely correct. There have been many affairs where I have been restricted by what I can play. Although no one has ever made any comments directly to me, I'm sure that some guests have left an affair not thinking to highly of me because I did not play a song they wanted or a type of music they like. However I do make it known (individually) that I am following the wishes of the bride and groom. This helps the guests understand that I am not just saying no for my own reasons.

When meeting with couples who give me their DO NOT PLAY LIST, I remind them that while the day is for them, their guests are entitled to a good time as well. So, if there is one song that the majority would like to hear, but the bride and groom don't, perhaps reconsider. A 4 minute song that you don't like is not going to kill a 4 hour reception. Unless the song affects you emotionally, which some songs can do!

I don't think many people have a problem with one or two songs being played that they don't particularly care for. What people are afraid of is when DJ's go off the program of what the bride and groom have requested and start following the requests of the guests.
