Donation in lieu of favors

I need some feedback from anyone caring to provide one....

We're considering donating the money we would have spent on favors to 2 charities that have helped our families. We'd place a card at each place setting "In lieu of favors, a donation was made to......".

It will serve as a double purpose for us - resolves the favor issue in a meaningful way and allows us to acknowledge the memory of my late mother and Paul's late brother.

Great idea! I've seen it done before, always with positive feedback. Anyone who isn't appreciative isn't worth worrying about.

I think that is a wonderful idea and helps everyone remember how much your loved ones mean to you. If anyone feels cheated, I think those people are selfish and just don't get it. Go with what you're heart tells you!

You will feel like you are really making a difference in the world. I heartily reccomend it. For a big birthday party, I asked that in lieu of a gift, that they send a check to the Cerebral Palsy Center in Roosevelt. When they traced it back to me, they invited me to a benefactors breakfast and gave me a tour of the facility. They make you feel very good inside.

Mark, Dorothy & Flash - thanks for the feedback! The closer the day gets the more I seem to be second guessing myself...worrying about 'expectations', etc... (I'm assuming this is normal?)

Thanks again for the peace of mind. : )

Yes, you are completely normal. I know this sounds silly, but try to relax when you can. It's going to be a wonderful day!
