Free or Not expensive places to take wedding pics?
Ok- here's the deal.. We cannot get into the Carltun until 5 30, at least we are not guaranteed entry until 5 30, in case there is a day affair. We plan to start taking pics at 4.. So, we wanted a back-up plan to start taking the first hour and a half of pics, in case we can't get in at 4.. There are no other places in Eishenhower Park that are picture worthy- according to our Banquet Manager. We called Old Westbury Gardens, and it is like $300 some-odd dollars-- too much to spend if we may not even go there.. any other ideas??

Bayard Arboretum in Oakdale is where we had ours, it was free. In the summer you need to pay to park, like $5 a car, but not in the winter.

What about the Garden City Gazebo? Not sure if you need to book it or not. EAB Plaza for indoors - don't know their pricing but it's a beautiful atrium. We just took our e-pics at OWG and let me tell you - worth every penny the walled garden is so beautiful.

I seem to remember that technically you are supposed to get permission to take photos at the Garden City gazebo, but I am not sure how many people actually do. For my brother's wedding, we just stopped, got out and took the pictures.

I know- it's just that we need to plan now--although we may not need it-- and it's too much just to waste.. If we can get to the Carltun- we are going to go there- their grounds are beautiful-- I just need somewhere else just in case.. if I knew I needed somewhere else for sure- I would just spend the 300 bucks.. but, just as a contigency plan-- I don't know...

Clark Gardens has some pretty landscapes and paths. I think it is $75.00 and it is in Albertson, which is maybe ten minutes from the Carltun.

Re: Free or Not expensive places to take wedding pics?
thanks-- that's the name on the place! It's down the block from FH's parents-- sounds perfect.. thanks!!I figured worse came to worse we can go to FH's parents house-- they have a HUGE backyard.. and figure we can do our outdoor shots there-- although, there is no real background..
I'll also check out Argyle-- where is that??

Re: Free or Not expensive places to take wedding pics?
Call me naive, but people actually have to pay these places to have their pictures taken? We had ours taken on the grounds of the hotel I manage. But even if we went into town or to the beach we wouldn't have to pay or get a permit. Is that normal?

Re: Free or Not expensive places to take wedding pics?
Well- a lot of these places charge you- as it pays for the upkeep of the gardens. etc. You can go anywhere on the grounds of your venue- but sometimes you just don't have enough time.
