Help with a place to have our wedding!!

Hi all. We are hoping to get some ideas please with where to have our wedding reception in late fall/early winter! We are planning on having about 110 people. We are getting married in a church, but are trying to find places (that are inexpensive) that offer room for a cocktail hour, reception, & also has a bridal suite/room. I'm not looking for a large place, but also hoping to find something nicer looking than a VFW type of place. I've heard of Captain Bills & The Irish Coffee Pub, but both names just throw me off a bit for a wedding invite location name (although both are beautiful looking!). I've heard of Sunset Harbour, as well as Marconi Manor as well....curious if anyone knows of pricing or how they look/were for a wedding. Any ideas of any places, along with ideas of their costs would be greatly appreciated. We are hoping to find something between Westbury to Patchogue area, and are wanting a Friday or Saturday night. Thank you all.

RE:Help with a place to have our wedding!!

I had my wedding 11-18-17 at fox hollow. The price of the winter garden last year was 109 a person ++ on a Friday for max of 120.  I used the somerley room, but this room was very nice as well.  Milleridge inn was really nice and not badly priced.

RE:Help with a place to have our wedding!!

check out the lessing's wedding venues, they usually offer all-inclusive packages for winter months. my fiance and I checked out the mansion at Timber Point, (we booked  a different venue closer to us) but its very nice and cozy it may meet all your requirements! :) also, I know they have the VIEW in oakdale. good luck! looking at venues could be a bit overwhelming BUT enjoy it and have fun!

RE:Help with a place to have our wedding!!

We are funding our wedding...well mostly ME...leaving me with a very tiny budget. So far the cheapest all inclusive packages have been with the Sterling in Bethpage, Ariana Waterfall in Hempstead, Mediterranean Manor, and the Beach Club Estate. All of these come in around $13k for about 120 guests. There is a really nice VFW type hall in Amityville called the Amity Harbor Civic Association; they charge $600 for 4 hours, its on the water so theres a beautiful view. Could probably do the catering and DJ, flowers, linens, decorations, everything for around $3500-$4000. I dont know what the liquor/bartending fees would be

Definitely agree! We booked a Lessings property (Smithtowm Landing) and couldn't be happier with our choice!

RE:Help with a place to have our wedding!!

Took a little down time from work and this site for some reason just popped in my head and I decided to check it out. This site was soooooooooooooooooo helpful when I was planning my wedding. My husband and I got married on 1-3-2015 at Fox Hollow in the Winter Garden Pavillion. I always wanted a winter wedding and was on a budget and till this day people that attended still compliment our wedding. We had a lot of out of town guests and the hotel on site was a huge plus. I did a lot of DIY - wedding invitations, favors, programs, to save and purchase items from Etsy. Pics are in my album and unedited but it will give you some idea. THERE IS A WAY OF HAVING A WEDDING AND STAYING IN A BUDGET. All the best and good luck with your planning!

RE:Help with a place to have our wedding!!

I had a winter wedding in December 2016 at what is now Lessing's Mansion at Oyster Bay - we were on a budget and kept it at 105 guests.  .I don’t know what your numbers are for “inexpensive” but I think it would be maybe 5 – 10% more than Captain Bill’s – at the time, they were very keen to negotiate with me and I haggled over Ever. Single. Detail in the contract. Literally everything. At the end, we negotiated the price down about 20% but kept everything that was important to us (open bar, delicious food, 5 hours). We cut stuff we didn’t care about (wedding cake, 5 cocktail hour food stations became 3, 10 passed h’or doerves became 5, etc). Highly recommend reading some articles about negotiating with vendors and practicing before you ask for discounted rates! But that’s the beauty of a winter wedding – vendors have less work that time of year, and are hungrier for your business. Feel free to message me if you want any tips!

RE:Help with a place to have our wedding!!

Did you end up picking a place? I can recommend the miller place inn! we are paying for the wedding all on our own as well, and they have been nothing but accommodating. ITs very personalized and one wedding at a time. We can't wait for our may 2019 wedding! we though we had to have an off season wedding to make it affordable.

I can vouch for captain bills as well. I attended an event there and I still remember how good the food was...

happy hunting!
