I'm Married - 11/23 Review (very long!) and pics

I am so excited to be able to post my wedding review. This board has been so helpful to me in all the planning. Even though I did not post too much, I was here everyday for hours reading every post! Reviews were my favorite thing to read…so hopefully my review will be helpful to those planning now!………Our wedding was absolutely wonderful. I thought I would be nervous and worrying about things all day, but it was just the opposite. We had a great time!!!! It did seem to go by very quickly and I wish there was more time to enjoy the food, talk to everyone, and dance more…but I wouldn’t change a thing…The funny thing is that I planned out every detail of the day and really planned for it to go perfect, however we had a lot of mishaps that were totally out of our control, but we did not stress out and just moved on and made the best of it, and the day was magnificent…My main point of advice is to just enjoy the day and do not worry about things that don’t quite fall into place or are out of your control!
I rated everything from 1-10 with 10 being the best!

Fox Hollow - 9.5
The Fox Hollow was just amazing. We knew this was the place for us the first time we visited! They have beautiful rooms and wonderful grounds for pictures. I do not think I can find the words to describe how great they are at throwing a party. The food was wonderful. All we keep hearing about is how much food there was and how delicious it tasted. They even threw in extras that were not on the original menu. What makes their food even more wonderful is the service they provide. No one had to wait on long lines for food or drinks. All the staff was wonderful. There was one waiter per table and everyone was offered seconds on the dinner. Our matrie'd and bridal assistant were great in helping us with whatever we needed and were always there with drinks and food and helpful reminders! The only reason I did not give them a 10 was because there were some last minute issues that were brought up very close to the day of the wedding about the cake design needing to be changed and a cost issue, that I felt should have been discussed a lot earlier on. But overall I wouldn’t change a thing, everything there was perfect!!!!!! Anyone who books with Fox Hollow will have a great wedding and can be confident that they are the best with food and service!!!

Hedgecock Florist - 9
We got a great deal for the money we paid! Flowers were not a top priority in our budget, but we still wanted everything to look great. The
flowers we got were perfect and were what we had discussed. They were very easy to deal with and flexible even at the last minute to any changes that
I wanted. Everything was delivered and setup up on time. The only reason I did not give them a 10 was because there were 2 minor mistakes in the
order. I asked for 2 grooms boutonnières to have an extra in case it was crushed, and we got only 1, with 2 roses, and my sisters corsage should
have been 1 rose and it came with 3. Not huge issues, but since I printed him a detailed list I was disappointed that it was incorrect. But overall
they were great flowers and the centerpieces looked beautiful.

Royalty Limo - 8.5
The drivers were all very professional and helpful throughout the day. They all arrived on time and knew the directions to the church and hall and were
very nice. We did however have some issues. We had specifically ordered a '49 Cadillac for the church and it had broke down on the way, which was a huge disappointment for my husband. However they had a replacement specialty car there on time and the driver even took us to the broken car to take pictures. He definitely went out of his way to please us, and it was appreciated!.........The other issue was that when the driver was picking up me and my sister to go to the church, he tried to make a u-turn on my narrow street and wound up messing up part of the neighbors small wire fence as it got caught under the limo and ripped out of the ground. The driver was professional and spoke to the neighbor and all was ok, but in the meantime we were left standing in the cold wind dealing with this 15 minutes before the wedding ceremony. I was not too happy! But overall everyone was professional and I would still highly recommend them! Sometimes crazy and unpredictable things happen, but it is how they are dealt with that matters!………

ProLine Photography and Videography - ?
I do have some comments on them, but I have not picked up my proofs or video yet, so I will post a review when I have them!

DJ Magic Mike - 6
He is a DJ from NJ. We choose him based on friend’s recommendations. Also because we were having a mixed American/Indian wedding and he specialized in Indian music. Overall the music was good and everyone was on the dance floor some time during the wedding and had a great time. He followed our play list and instructions for the most part. We were happy with the music, but our major complaint is that he left 2 hours early and left an assistant in charge and never told us!!!!! This wouldn’t be as bad had we not paid extra for him since he was the owner and most experienced. Because I feel that this was so unprofessional. I cannot recommend him.

Encore Music – 10
We hired a sax and keyboard player for the cocktail hour. All I know is that they showed up and played the full time. Since we didn’t attend the cocktail hour I don’t know how good the music was. But we have only heard positive things from everyone! Also the lady at Encore was wonderful to deal with and never pressured us!

Bridal Reflections Massapequa – 8
I loved my dress and the sales lady who helped me. The alterations department was ok, everything was done on time and as I asked. Of course I paid the max of the cap for a hem and two little darts, but that was already expected. The real complaint is just with the attitudes of SOME of the ladies that work in the alterations dept. We always went in there happy to try on the dress and when they are nasty it just ruins the whole experience. But overall my dress was perfect!!!!

Bethpage Bridal Garden – 10
My mom got her dress here and they were wonderful, very nice, perfect alterations and very reasonable!

Zeller and Avante Tux – 10
All I know is that all the guys had the right sizes and clean tuxes and there were no major problems so a 10 for both of them.

Favors
My husband had a need to be different in this area so we ordered personalized desk clocks with our names, date and a wedding rings image. They were a big hit, and were actually pretty affordable since we ordered in bulk from a company that specializes in promotional items for businesses. For the guest book we decided to go with the cards that everyone filled out. They were great, and it was so much fun to read everyone’s comments and wishes to us! It was a great idea that I got from this board!!! (http://www.guestbookstore.com/)

We also had Hershey kisses, wedding bells and thank you scrolls at each place setting. I am so glad that I put the extra time into all the little things because that is what we have heard so much about, people really do notice all the little details!!

Liberty Travel – 10
I dealt with Dawn from the Levittown office and she was great. We had an awesome honeymoon to Hawaii!

Dance Lessons!
We tried to prepare for the dancing as much as we could! We took some lessons at Arthur Murray to plan out our first dance and it was great. We have also been taking ballroom dance at Nassau Community College and that has been so helpful. Not only did we have a first dance, but we later knew had to pull out a few steps and it really made such a huge impression on everyone. We heard about it all night. So if you have the time I definitely think dance lessons are a great idea!

I also wanted to mention that I was very concerned that since we were having a sat afternoon wedding that people would not dance or drink as much and it would be boring. It turned out to be the opposite, people had no problem drinking and dancing in the afternoon, I was totally taken back by the amount of energy in the room!! It was a great party and we keep getting calls from friends and family about how great everything was and how much fun they had!……….

Wow Royalty sounds like they were a mess that day!! They took you to a broken car, how sad, yet I see your point.

you look beautiful!! I was so happy to see someone else who changed clothes. I'm marrying an Asian guy and I have to change also into a red gown. Never thought I would be wearing red at my wedding!!

Hi balilove, The idea of changing out of my wedding dress was difficult at first, but it meant a lot to my husbands side of the family to wear a sari. So we argreed that I would change for the second half of the wedding. That day it went perfectly and was no big deal to change, and everyone really loved it. I think the sari had a bigger reaction then the wedding dress! LOL!!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day besides the couple of issues. At least Royalty showed up with another car and offered to take you to take pics to the broken down vehicle. Alot of us would be devastated (as you would have been) if they never showed! All FH keeps saying to me is although we want it to be perfect, if something happens that doesn't make it perfect, let it go. Not worth it.
