I'm Married!!! The beginning of my 7/26 harrison house wedding review (long)!
Thank you all for everything! the ideas, the support, etc.!I must say that our wedding was amazing, the best day of our lives. So many people told us it was the best they'd ever been too. We had a whole wedding weekend, as my whole family and his immediate family, stayed Fri-Sunday with us at the hotel. Thurs. was our bach. parties.
It was really the people there who made our wedding so beautiful (his mother was our minister, our siblings did readings, and our bridal party was made up of our trully nearest and dearest, plus we had kids at the wedding and they really make it beautiful (my flowergirl and ringbearer picked rose petals off the cake table and made a circle of petals around us for our first dance-all on their own, then we ended up holding hands with them during our first dance).
Ok, so here are my reviews to start:
Renaissance Writings A+(www.renaissancewritings.com)-programs, invites, menus, placecards, etc. -These guys were so fast, and all of our items coordinated. We got soooo many compliments. Not to mention, they were not that expensive and were extremely easy to work with.
InkSpun-computer calligraphy: F
Bill was difficult to work with and the quality was shoddy. We ended up ordering new envelopes and having Renaissance Writings print on them and they came out beautifully.
Rehearsal Dinner: Marra's in Glen Cove: A-
Very good food, decent service although we had to ask twice for a few things. People had an awesome time and the casual atmosphere was perfect since many had just finished travelling long distances.
Kleinfelds: A+
They were awesome. Antoinette was my fitter, and she made my dress fit like a glove. Not one complaint. They even exchanged my shoes (against their policy) when they didn't fit, and even though they are so big, they made everything very personal
RK Bridal: B
Prices are great, service was ok. Everything turned out fine, but they almost forgot to ship my dresses to the bridesmaids!
Message Scrolls (www.messagescrolls.com)A+
Our scrolls were beautiful, and the staff there couldn't have been kinder or nicer to work with. We received many compliments on our favors. n
Flower Michele: A+
I hired John only two weeks before the wedding, and he did the most amazing job I could have asked for, plus some, and all within my budget. He was amazing, people said they had never seen any flowers like them.
DJ: Expressway Music: A+
David and his wife were awesome. We had a small daytime wedding of only 90 people, so we were worried that people wouldn't dance. The dance floor was seldom empty and people of all ages were dancing.
Day Of Coordinator: Elaine DeLuca. We have two ratings for her.
Before the wedding (coordination, planning) A+. She was awesome, coming to all sorts of meetings, hooking us up with last minute florist and calligrapher, taking me makeup shopping, coming to fittings, travelling all the way to Brooklyn. We really couldn't have pulled off the planning without her, really. She was amazing and put in her all.
Day of Coordination: B+
Elaine was very helpful, though she seemed a little nervous and a few things got missed (some signs were mixed up, our guests weren't directed to guest book, our bm and moh weren't told when speeches would be, etc). Overall though, she was good (even covered my tattoo for me). I think the stuff she did really made her indispensable and more than worth hiring.
Harrison House:
This is a tough one, so we'll rate them on a few things and explain the others.
Many of you know the hassle some of us have had with Bill Kennedy, he is a terrible event manager and a real jerk. He gets an F for sure.
But, a few months ago we switched to Carmela Marrone, and she was our Special Event Manager, and she gets an A. She was helpful, honest, and organized. We couldn't have asked for better.
For food/service Harrison House gets an A+. Food and service were both absolutely amazing, our guests couldn't stop talking about it. Our guests were amazed at the service and presentation, not to mention quality. The Maitre D', Sandy, was so helpful and so nice, and she really knew what she was doing.
Wedding Cake (Baked To Perfection, through the Harrison House). A+. Best carrot cake we've ever had, and it was beautiful.
Lodging, Harrison House: A+. Service was impeccable, they even brought me benadryl when I had allergies and made sure we had breakfast in our suite when we were getting ready. Amazing.
Ok, we'll add the photographer after we see the pics, and my friend did my hair (she was amazing too), and I did my makeup (bought it at MAC, not so bad I might add).
I'll get you pics as soon as I can!!!
