My AMAZING Indian Wedding! Leonards, Camelot, AMDA, Designs by Rose, etc...Loaded with pics!

I would just like to start off by saying that LI Weddings has been such a life saver when it came to planning my wedding. I received so much great advice and ideas that my Wedding planning went very smooth considering I had a 5 day Indian wedding. I rated all vendors using a grade scale and I hope this review helps all those future brides planning their special day.

Here is a rundown of my wedding week.

Day 1-Henna Party
Day 2-Tumeric Ceremony
Day 3-Wedding Ceremony
Day 4-Reception
Day 5-Farewell Party

Bridal Shower at Villa Russo-A+
My mom, sister and aunt went all out for my Bridal Shower. They told me the date two weeks before but kept the location and details a secret. They are so creative and made the menus, escort cards, and table numbers. Villa Russo is so beautiful and rustic. They were very accommodating. We had passed appetizers and a sit down lunch with coffee, espresso and cake for dessert. I LOVED every minute of my shower. We received so many gifts which we needed because DH and I never lived together.









Weather-A+
I got married the first week of April and I was actually expecting it to rain but the Sun came out and it was 65-70 degrees the entire week. I couldn't have asked for better weather!! Also DO NOT believe in the weather predictor.

Henna by Samera-A+
My Henna party was Day 1 of the wedding. I hired Samera for my Henna party. She was very sweet, on time and very professional. My Henna came out very dark and stayed on for about a week. Samera also did Henna for my bridesmaids, mother, and aunt's.














Ravi on Dhol-A+
Ravi is a good friend of mine and I knew I wanted him to play the drums for my Tumeric ceremony. He was OUTSTANDING! This was the second day of my wedding. His team played on my wedding day.







Parekh Cards-A+
I got my Wedding invites from this online website and they were amazing. I waned something modern but with an Indian touch. They sent me a few samples and I was able to design a beautiful card. The invites were very good quality and were well priced. I ordered 250 invitations and they came all the way from India without a crease or scratch on them!



My Custom Wedding Shoppe-A+
I got my Reception invites from My Custom Wedding Shoppe. They were very easy to work with and got my vision very easily. I chose pocket invites in pistachio with a chocolate brown belly band. I got so many compliments on them.



Channa Plaque-A+
Channa is so sweet. She gets quite overwhelmed with orders, so please order early. I think Channa plaques provide a unique touch to a wedding and the best part is you can display it in your home after! She sent me two proofs and was willing to change it as many times as I wanted but I was very happy with the first proof she sent.



Flower Girl Dress from JCPenney-A+
I wanted something simple for my little cousin and I found the perfect dress at JCPenney and it was under $50. It fit perfect and the quality is great. She was also able to move around in it all night.



Singhar by Ayesha-A+++++++++
Being a Makeup Artist myself, I know quite a lot about the industry. I also knew that Ayesha is the BEST in the industry when it comes to South Asian Bridal Makeup. She is pricy but this is something I would not settle on. Even before getting engaged I always knew that I wanted Ayesha to do my makeup. She was on tme, professional, and very calming. Someone you definietly need to have around you on the day of your wedding. Everyone kept raving about my hair and makeup and it lasted from 1pm-3am in the morning.







Zeeshan-A++++++
I knew I wanted a Custom made wedding outfit. Zeeshan designed my Wedding outfit. I could not have been happier!!! The whole process took about 5 months and it fit like a glove it was also very heavy. I felt like a Bollywood Actress and I did not want to take it off the next morning. He also designed my Mom's outfit.








Selvije Ndreshaj-A
I knew I wanted over the top Hair and Makeup for both my Wedding Day and Reception. I booked Selvije for the Reception and got so many compliments on my hair. She is pricy but her work speaks for itself. I wish she had a website to show all her beautiful work. I have very straight Asian hair but the 'big' hair she gave me lasted all night!

Davids Bridal in Westbury-A+
I was really looking for a budget friendly Reception Gown since I was only wearing it for the Reception. Also I spent most of the budget on my Wedding Day Indian outfit. I went on a Friday morning so it was not that busy. I think if you go on a weekend or later in the day it gets very busy and the service is not the same. I really did not think I was going to find anything at Davids Bridal but I did. Donna was my bridal consultant and she was a doll to work with. My dress was the second one I tried one. I loved the lace, sweetheart neckline, and mermaid silhouette.

Davids Bridal Alteration in Massapequa-B+
I decided to go to the Massapequa location for alterations because I heard better reviews about them. I had about 5 fittings before they got it right. I live all the way in Queens so it was quite a trip going there back and forth. They were always messing up on something (particularly the length). I was not going to bring it home until it was perfect. In the end it was! Since I had to go back more then usual, they refunded the amount I paid for the Hem which was very nice of them and of course the right thing to do.





Men's Warehouse Greenacres Mall-B
I was so worried about getting the Tuxes from Men's Warehouse but it was the most cost efficient place we found. The customer service was terrible at the one in Roosevelt Field so we tried Greenacres Mall. There were much more friendlier. One the day of pick up 2 of our FM's tux's were big. They fixed the problem but it was just a hassle for them to go back the next day to pick up.







Fashions by Daisy-A
I have known Daisy for many years and all I can is that she is amazing. For the wedding she made my Bridesmaid dresses and some Indian outfits I had to wear on the different days. Now let me tell you, she is Spanish but she can make an Indian outfit like no other!!! The reason why I did not give her an A+ was because she was definitely overwhelmed, she had a ton of orders and lets just say 'she bit off more then she could chew'. I had to keep going back to her last minute for final fittings. All of my outfits came out gorgeous and exactly how I wanted them. She also made outfits and did the alterations on my mom and sister's outfits.



Bombay Fashions-A+
It is no secret how expensive my Day of Jewelery would cost and I knew this from the beginning. The owner at Bombay Fashions was so sweet and spent 4 hours with me carefully selecting and customizing the jewelery so it would match my outfit perfectly.



Designs By Rose-A
Rose and Doris are so sweet. They are a mother/daughter team and were very accommodating and budget friendly. I really like the fact that at the initial meeting they do not ask for any personal information. So they definitely won't be calling you every other day. They also did a sample centerpiece for me before I signed a contract. I had a vision of exactly how I wanted my centerpieces and bouquets to look like. I only wanted one type of flower in my centerpieces and I chose Roses because I think it looks so classic and romantic. Rose made my vision a reality. Everything was on time and correct. The only one complaint I have is that I wish my Calla Lily bouquet was a little more white but I know that Calla Lily's are such a delicate flower to begin with. Rose also wrapped my bouquet in rhinestone bling and it was stunning!!







Leonard's of Great Neck-B
When searching for Reception Halls, I really wanted somewhere that had NO carpets in the rooms and that was budget friendly. I had 400 guests on a Saturday night for the Reception so budget was a very big concern for us. Leonard's satisfied both of those needs. Be warned that Leonard's has a very BIG communication problem. I had so many questions throughout the planning process but it took days, sometimes weeks to get a reply/answer. I was very worried and I hired a DOC for this reason. On the actual day, Leonard's actually came through. Everything went smoothly and perfect. I arrived 2 hours before for pictures which was great. There was another event at Leonard's that night but you would have never known because we did not even see each other (nor did the guests). DH's family does not eat pork and my family does not eat beef, Leonard's made sure they labeled all the food at the Cocktail hour so that Guests would know what each dish contained. Guests could not stop raving about the Cocktail Hour and the Food.

DJ Rude Boy-A++++++++
I scheduled my wedding date around DJ Rudy's availability. I know that sounds weird but he is the BEST when it comes to West Indian music and has been in the industry for over 20 years. He gets booked 2 years in advance and travels around the Caribbean during Carnival time so his schedule is limited. I have known Rudy since I was 2 years old and he has played at every single event I have attended. All of my guests knew him as well and he kept the floor packed the entire night!



Camelot-A+
For me, the most important detail when hiring a Limo company is prompt service and a clean limo. I only needed Limo's for the day of the Reception. The only thing that I kept hearing about Camelot from fellow LI Wedding brides was that they were on time. We decided to book with them and we went for the new Audi which was beautiful. They were clean and on time the day of the reception. We also booked family Limo's and had no issues. Everything went smooth.



A Modern Day Affair-A++++++++++++
I can not say enough about AMDA. They were the most amazing vendors of the night. I was originally not going to hire a Day of Coordinator because it was just an added expense but after seeing how reasonable their packages were, I hired AMDA more for the Reception Day. Since Leonard's had a big communication issue I was worried about the actual day. DOC's are so important because they have copies of all your contracts and handle ALL unforseen challenges. Maitre'D and Bridal attendants work for your RH and do not take care of issues that may arise with other vendors. At the end of the night, I took some tip money out of the Maitre D tip envelope and put it in AMDA's because they deserved it more. They kept me calm the entire time, bustled my dress, touched up my hair and makeup, set my dress for pictures, etc, etc, etc....I can go on and on but it still wont give AMDA justice. Absolutely AMAZING and I HIGHLY recommend them for any event!!



Farewell Party-A+

The party was the last day of the wedding and took place at my home. My dad worked so hard and it all payed off. This is usually the saddest day. Everyone gathered outside at the end of the party for the farewell ceremony. Everyone was crying so much and it was a really emotional time leaving my 'Maayka' (parents home)







Honeymoon at Sandals Royal Caribbean Jamaica-A+
What can I say? i had the most AMAZING Honeymoon. We knew we wanted to go to Jamaica because of the nightlife. DH and I are both West Indian and out of all the Islands, we know that Jamaica and Trinidad parties it up the most. Because it was our Honeymoon we wanted to go somewhere where we could relax in the day without being disturbed (after all we had a 5 day wedding). Sandals fit the bill perfectly. Now we have been to Jamaica before but never at Sandals. Yes it is touristy but the service was outstanding. We also visited two other Sandals on the island and I thought that Royal Caribbean was the best, particularly when it came to service. We really enjoyed tea time and eating at the private offshore island.
