The Windwatch CC/ The Hamlet – A+We were supposed to have our wedding at the Windwatch in Hauppauge, but since they did not have power 2 days before the wedding, we had the option to move to the Hamlet in Commack. I really didn’t want to do this, especially after my future MIL’s (at the time) reaction. However, we were given a deadline of 3 pm that day and decided to move everything. We turned to facebook, texting, email and phone calls (to people who had power) to tell them that the venue had changed. We had Windwatch put a guy there to tell anyone who went to Hauppauge that the wedding had been moved to The Hamlet. The day before the wedding, we went to The Hamlet and met with Hillary, who was very helpful. Our contact at Windwatch was Kim Hint, and she was just AMAZING keeping this wedding on track. She really went above and beyond to make sure our wedding happened. Thank God The Hamlet had the date open!! All of the guests said the food was very good. I only got to eat my filet mignon (which was great) and a couple of bites at the cocktail hour. I totally missed our dessert which was amazing at the tasting…Oreo icecream pie!!! Would totally recommend this company for a wedding. They really worked with us. We even got some money back from the no-shows!
Invitations – Even*tar Paperie – A+
Tessa is great to work with. It was so fun to be able to help her design your one of a kind invitations. All correspondence is via email, which worked for me. The invites came out gorgeous! I loved them. Another thing I thought I didn’t care about, and she ended up being one of my favs! She is also very reasonably priced!
Ken Hild – A-
I haven’t gotten my proofs so this is a review for E-pics and the day of the wedding. It was hard getting a date on the calendar for the e-pics but we finally did. It was an overcast/ rainy day. Ken came to us (which was nice) and we gave suggestions for areas to take pics b/c we knew the area (Remsenburg). He had a cold, so he seemed a little out of it. Overall, I was pretty happy with the pics. (see album). It was hard to get a hold of him the week before to discuss day of details. He told me he’d call me one day and didn’t , changed the day and asked me what time to call. I told him and he called about 2 hours later so I couldn’t talk to him at that time. Day of the wedding, Ken was on time. He was very direct and business-like while taking pics, particularly when family was involved. He stayed pretty much until the end. I will post some pics when I get them.
Pete Galgano – Wedding Cinema – A
Pete was very friendly from the get go and we liked him immediately. We weren’t so concerned about having some crazy cinematic video, and he was very reasonably priced. The day of, he was on time at the hall and you hardly knew he was there, which was great. I would totally recommend him (haven’t gotten the video yet though). He also stood up for us on the golf course when some d-bag was yelling at us for getting in the way of his game!
Roots Flowers and Treasures - A+
Cori is really amazing to work with. She’s warm and friendly. She guides you if you have no clue as to what you want, but is not pushy. She’s very creative. I initially didn’t really care about flowers, but she ended up being one of my favorite vendors. Also, she’s very affordable. I love Cori and Roots!!
Reverend Deb Viola – B-
We really liked Reverend Deb when we met her. Since we had to move the venue and moved everything a half hour later, she could not do the ceremony b/c she had booked another ceremony right after ours. She told us that she had an associate, Sara Shoenfeld who would be doing the ceremony. At that time, I didn’t care, I was just happy to be having a wedding. Rev. Sara was wonderful, and tons of people commented on how they loved the ceremony, that it was so personal and different. So Sara Shoenfeld gets an A+++! In hindsight, I think it’s a little risky to book one ceremony right after the other. I guess everyone has to make some $$ though…
DJ Teddy Rauert – A
Teddy was also someone who was hard to get a hold of towards the end. However when I booked him initially, he called me from his vacation!!! Teddy lives in the Rockaways in Queens and had a lot of damage to his home from the hurricane and was working tirelessly to help his friends in the area the week of the hurricane. Even after all of that, he did an amazing job at our wedding! He is fun, funny, and energetic. He had my MIL crowd surfing!!! He’s an amazing DJ. Totally recommend.
DOC – Cloud Nove Events – A
Regina is the owner and operator of Cloud Nove. I booked her after just speaking to her on the phone. She’s very professional and knows what she’s doing. After booking her (about 6 months before the wedding), she would answer any email question I had, usually within hours. When we had our meeting with her a week before the wedding, she asked us so many questions that I had a to do list of things I forgot when I left! Nothing crazy, just details. So, it’s a very thorough meeting. Unfortunately, Regina’s home was damaged from the hurricane and her car was destroyed. As such, she could not come to the wedding, instead sending her two assistants, Patryk and Shakinah. I had met both of them at the meeting, so that wasn’t a concern. Patryk and Shakinah went out of their way to make sure I was happy. Patryk is not as detail oriented as Regina, but he was very good. Half of the candy for the candy bar had not arrived as of the day before my wedding. So, Patryk went out to Target the morning of, and got candy for us. The placecards had also not arrived, so he had the reception hall write out new ones the morning of. Crazy enough, both packages came the day of the wedding so we had our original candy and placecards! Shekinah had a magic bag with everything you could ever need on your wedding day. My MOH’s dress was falling down and she rigged that baby up so it wasn’t moving with her Macguyver skillz! It was a real comfort to have them there that day.
Hair – Firemonkey, Dusti – A+
Loved Dusti from the minute I met her and she did my trial. My hair looked great the day of and stayed in all day.
Makeup – Christine Martin – A+
Christine is hysterical. She had all of us cracking up while getting ready. Also, she does great make-up! Hope I can use her again someday when I have to get dressed up.
Dress – Bridal Reflections-A
They did a great job from start to finish. Loved my seamstress. No problems making appointments or picking up. They actually didn’t have power the day I was to pick up my dress, but I was able to b/c they opened up anyway.
Veil and headpiece – Barrons – A
Loved my headpiece and the prices are great! Some advice to future brides...don't get a heavy headpiece if you're going to wear it on the side of your head.
Shoes – Hey Lady – B
Love my shoes, they are so pretty. But, they hurt! And I did wear them a bunch of times to break them in. The company claims that they are comfortable but they were squeezing my toes. I ended up wearing platform flip flops for the majority of the night.
Photobooth - Photobooths by NY digital memories - A+ I didn't even think of getting a photo booth, my mom wanted it and payed for it. Honestly, I think it was one of the most fun things. I just wish the DJ had announced it was there b/c I think some guests didn't see it. They even had an album to take home at the end of the night with all of the pics, and the album was beautiful! It was in our wedding colors. Loved them, and so glad my mom suggested it.
Pics in album!

So glad you were still able to have your wedding and Hamlet worked so hard for you. We met with Kim at Wind Watch and loved it and lover HER but it was too small for us, she's lovely though. Congratulations!
