Florist...
I went today for my 1st sit down with a Florist in my area. If anything she made me very dizzy about all the types of flowers and bouquets, arrangements, etc. Is this normal?? I wasn't too thrilled with the fact that she didn't even have any albums of work they have done. Suggestions???

Well for starters it can be alot to take in and i try not to let my brides get too overwhelmed, it can be alot to handle. First, keep in mind the color or colors of the girls dreeses tend to dictate the feel of the flowers that will set the trend for your wedding. For example i try to invert color, you want to avoid colors dorwning each other out. Save pictures that you see in mags and photo`s of things you like and get an idea of things you dislike. I myself really make it an effort to get inside my birdes head and learn what kind of a feel she`s trying to convey. Dont try to get everything figured out in one appointment, many times it takes 2 or 3. Make sure that your florist is going to do a sample for you, i cant stress this enough because it will give you an opportunity to reflect on your florists interpertation of what you want, i wont do a wedding without a sample, remember there are no second chances.... Anyway hope this helps a bit if you need anymore info please feel free to contact me. John Feeney

As a professional, my first thought would be that anyone that uses visuals as a selling point and there design ability, should have had photos of her previous work to show you. Every designer is different, and what someone else likes may not be what you like. Looking at a designers photos would help you decide if thats what you are looking for. She should offer to make a sample since there are no photos to go by. As for getting overwhelmed, that happens to brides, not just you. When a bride has no idea what she wants, I always tell her to flip through her magazines and save the ones she may like to start getting ideas. Have you ever thought about the type bouquet you have always wanted. A cascade, which is the long draping, natural stem which is like a 'Martha Stewart' style or presentation, which rests in your arm. Your size and dress will have to be taken into consideration, but this is a good place for you to start, because I find the majority of the girls like either one or the other, then you and your florist can discuss flower choices and colors which will compliment your bridal party dresses. You should have those picked out before you start talking about flowers. Good luckWelcome New Vendors
