The Setup

Valentines Day 2004 started out with Jason kicking me out of the house. I knew he had a special Valentines Day planned, but I had no idea just how special. Some highlights of the day were Jay locking himself out of our apartment and being late, as usual. When he picked me up at my moms, we were both dressed very nice. He looked so handsome in his suit. We went to Marios Restaurant for dinner. (Note: Jay waited until that night before to make reservations, so we had 10:00 pm dinner reservations.) We had a wonderful dinner at Marios and even got our picture taken.

When we arrived home Jay told me to close my eyes and we entered the pitch black apartment. I took my shoes off and was stepping on something cold on the floor. He led me to the dining room where when I opened my eyes he was down on one knee surrounded by red rose petals scattered all over the apartment and a spot light on a beautiful bouqet of flowers and an open ring box sitting inside the arrangement. It was then that he asked me to marry him. He had to ask me three times before I answered. I was in total shock and forgot to say YES. We cried and kissed and he put the ring on my finger.
