Recent brides..'details' questions
Hello Newlyweds ~ I'm almost there!! Anyway, 2 questions for anyone who cares to answer. :) 1) If your ring bearer actually carried your rings on the pillow, how were they removed? Does the Best Man just take 'em off? 2) Do the Unity tapers stay lit once Steve and I light the Unity candle or do we blow them out? Thanks!! 5 days 'n counting!! :)

Rings & candles (long)
First - regarding the ring bearer - it depends on their age & how likely they are to actually make it down the aisle without crying or freaking out. My cousin had a good solution. Her ring bearer was only 4, and she was nervous that he might get shy and not want to walk down the aisle. Plus, she wasn't confident giving a 4-year-old thousands of dollars in platinum jewelry. So, they tied plastic rings (colored silver & purchased in a party store) to the pillow. The best man held the real rings. This also made the issue about when to untie the rings from the pillow non-existent. Second, when we lit our unity candle, the tapers stayed lit. My cousin, on the other hand, blew their tapers out. If you think about it symbolically, you might have a different opinion. The tapers symbolize you & your husband as individuals, and your unity candle is the joining of your souls as husband & wife. In my opinion, I am 'one' with my husband, but I still maintain my individuality. Just one way to think about it. Good luck & hope these ideas help!

I did not have a ring bearer but I don't believe they carry the rings. Our best man had them in his pocket safe and sound and handed them to us when we exchanged rings. for the candles we blew them out after we lit the unity candle (in church) but I was just at my friends wedding at a catering hall and they did not blow them out. Good luck I got married 2 weeks ago.

What we did
As you can tell by the responses it's really up to you and which you prefer. We also tied plastic rings on the pillow and had the best man carry the real rings. We kept the tapered candles lit after lighting the unity candle. There's no set rule.

One more
We didn't have a ring bearer...but we did have a unity candle. We actually didn't have tapers. They were like little sparkler sticks. Our mothers had them and they lit them from the pew candles and brought them to the alter - the pastor held or unity candle and we lit it and then blew out the sparkler like sticks. So there wasn't even taper candles there to keep lit. Like everyone says it's your choice. Although you should also see what your church says if you are getting married in a church.Welcome New Vendors
