Do you send your officiant an invitation?
I was just curious. Has anyone sent their officiant an official invitation to the wedding? So they have all the details? Is anyone having their officiant attend the reception? If yes, where are you seating them?
We are getting married at our reception site. Our officiant is non-denominal. We contacted her specifically for the wedding. We don't have a relationship with her otherwise, like many people do with their priests or rabbis. Should we invite her?

we invited our Pastor to come but she makes it a policy that she doesnt attend anyone's wedding. We sent the invite just to be correct but we knew she wouldnt come.

Re: Do you send your officiant an invitation?
Hi AmyYes, I sent our priest an invitation. He's the most important part of the ceremony except for FH and I. He probably gets invited to a lot of weddings so he'll probably not come but it looks nice to send him one.

Re: Do you send your officiant an invitation?
Our officiant is a close and personal friend of mine so we of course invited him, but I don't know anyone else who invited thiers if they were not close.

Re: Do you send your officiant an invitation?
I'm in the same situation as you... she happened to officiate a friend of mine's wedding and I knew she just stayed for cocktail hour so I just kind of asked her if she would stay for cocktail hour. I don't think you need to invite them to the reception...

No, we invited him verbally, but he had a previous engagement.

Re: Do you send your officiant an invitation?
Yes. We hand delivered ours to our officiant because we reserved him at the very last minute for our wedding. (Long story) We were very glad that he was available inspite of the last minute notice. However, he was not available to attend our reception not even for our cocktail hour.A year later we learned from this board as well as other boards that our officiant, Reverend Karl W. Gillmeister passed away in February 2004.

Re: Do you send your officiant an invitation?
Yes we did, but he declined. he is performing two weddings that day and he is close to both brides so he chose not to go to either.
