Giving flower Bulbs as wedding favors...any ideas?

I was thinking of this.. has anyone done it.. do you know where is a good place to buy like 500 bulbs... I was thinking of packaging them up and putting them in small baskets with some tulle and ribbons, and maybe a nice saying or something..

Have you checked out a nursery? The only one I know of is Hicks. It is on Jericho Tpke. in Westbury.

Another bulb idea

What about some terra cotta pots to go with your bulbs? The small ones were 29 each at the craft store near me. You could wrap tulle around that and ribbon and put a little tag with something like 'Love in Bloom' and your names & date and then maybe at the bottom 'Thank you for being a part of our day'. I love all these cute favor ideas. Everybody's ideas are so creative!

Heres another...

When is your wedding? If you have time Home Depot starts selling tons of bulbs in the fall (at least 50 different kinds). They even sell mini bulbs which you can put in smaller (read: cheap) pots. If you are looking for a different way to present, Martha Stewart has a great way of giving a little paperwhite bulb kit. I can't find it on her site anymore but if you have an ultimate wedding account, a picture is posted in my journal: http://www.weddingchat.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=70477 (2nd post)

Heres another...-Thank you all!!!!

our wedding is next september.. so I have plenty of time.. I don't think I can buy the bulbs now.. I might have to wait until next August.. and then hurry up to finish them.. either that, or I might decide to go with the seeds.. it might just be easier.. and a little cheaper... thank you all for your help!!!
