I just needed to vent

O.K. I am a procrastinator and I haven't lost all of my weight yet I want to loose thirty more pounds, but my wedding is in less than two months I have tried everything to loose the weight,I've been excercising, eating right I even started taking diet pills and it won't go away quick enough. This last past week I have lost a little weight, but I am scared it won't be enough I really am upset I used to be skinny and I want to be skinny again. My dress is here and I don't even want to try it on because I want to loose weight, I keep having nightmares about it and I don't know what to do so I figured I would vent to you guys in hopes it would make me feel better. I am too embarrased to talk to anyone else I am even too embarrased to my friends. I am going tonite and am trying on my dress so hopefully it will fit, and the nightmares will end. My weight never bothered me until I saw a picture from my engagement party and I kept saying ok I will lose weight by christmas but that has come and gone then it was by the time we got our engagement photos and that has come and gone I don't want my wedding to come and me not to have lost the weight because I want to look beautiful. I know this probably sounds pathetic but I am just stessing.

I just needed to vent

Christine, I can completely sympathize. I am in the same boat... I keep saying I will lose the weight, and all the time benchmarks are passing, and very little is happening. I JUST recently got 'serious', working out everyday before work, taking fat burners. I have only lost 2 pounds, but I am toning up and losing inches. My wedding is in July, and I need to lose 10 pounds by then. It's a lot of pressure! If you need to vent I'm here and I understand. : )

Christine, I totally understand....I've been wanting to start exercising 9 months ago when I got engaged, but it has not happened yet. Just remember that not matter, you will look amazing on your wedding day! Try to eat healthy, so you won't make yourself sick! I have started drinking the Slim Fast Shakes and they work....just drink one for breakfast, one for lunch and a sensible dinner and you will start losing lbs. (I sounds like the commercial!) Good luck! We are here if you need to vent!:-)

I just needed to vent--

One of my bridesmaids has lost 35 lbs, although she did it over about 4 or 5 months. She is only eating 'single ingredient' foods - nothing processed. Only Vegetables, Fruit, Meat - no pasta, no bread etc. I found that when I was trying to lose weight some year back I was able to lose about 2-3 lbs a week by following this routine - fresh fruit for breakfast and for lunch - that`s it - nothing else until dinner, then a sensible dinner - add to that a 1 hour work out 5 days a week - aerobic and weights, and running twice around the resevoir on a least one weekend day. It`s a harsh routine to try to follow, but 10 lbs is a full dress size, so if you try a 'spa' menu of juice and broth for a day or two with some celery and carrots to jump start you, then work out as much as you can maybe you can drop 10 lbs over the next 3-4 weeks, and will tone up too and you should see a noticible difference. 6 weeks of Stomach Crunches will do wonders for your stomach. I also found that my dress is so fitted through the bodice that I can`t even hope to slouch, so my nice upright posture will help me look trim - you might find the same, and remember, your dear Fi chose you as you are and will undoubtedly think you are lovely no matter what you weigh. Good luck!!!

Christine - I just needed to vent

Hi Christine, I know how you feel. I tried to lose weight for a long time, and finally I can say a year later, I've lost 50lbs. Losing 30 lbs. in such a short time will be very hard. How I did it was eating better, I exercise 5 days a week and I took Metabolife for a year. I took 2 tablets an hour before breakfast, lunch and dinner. It does work, and helps a lot. You may want to try this. I know some people are against diet pills, but I was desperate. Oh, definitely in your exercise routine, do Tae-Bo. I've been doing it and I'm still doing it, and that could help a great deal. But don't worry, if you don't lose the weight, you'll still be beautiful on your wedding day. Try not to stress over it so much, I know what that's like, and I still do. Try to relax (I hate that word) and just feel good about who you are. I've learned that over this last year. Hope my advice helps. Good luck and best wishes. I know it won't be easy! :)

I'm right with you...

I've been trying too. Since last year I'v been trying. I really got serious this January and have been going to the gym for three months about 4 times a week, but I'm mostly toning and not losing weight, which is so frustrating. My dress is supposed to come in next week and I'm terrified. I wanted to look so beautiful too. My goal is to just keep doing what I am doing and watch more carefully what I eat. You can only lose so much safely. I have until September but once my dress is in and I start fittings I can't be losing much more. YOu know what--you are not the only one and we'll be beautiful no matter what because we will be glowing. No matter what weight you have lost or haven't make sure you smile and look confident and enjoy yourself that day. The beauty will shine through and you only have one chance to enjoy one of the most beautiful days of your life. So vent away...I totally understand and am in support. Don't go overboard, do it the safe way, excercise and eating right. You really can't lose more than about 2-3 pounds a week, safely, anyway.

I`m right with you...

Does anyone walk?? I lost 48 lbs, just by walking, then I joined a gym,but that was 8 yrs ago and since then I've gained 32 back, by not going to the gym and eating junk. Talk about frustrating. My Fi used call me his 'victoria's secret girl'. Not to brag but yes that's what I looked like! But now, forget it, I 'm so fed up with myself. In January I joined Weight Watchers with my MOH and another cousin. Well, they both lost between 15 and 28 lbs. each!!! Not me, nope only 12 lbs since Jan.,talk about fed up!! Yes I been walking and I definetley have to back to the gym!! So thats my goal this week. To go rejoin and don't let anything or anybody get in my way!! I have until Oct., so if I lost another 15 lbs. that would be fine, then I'll lose the rest. So wish me luck!!!, and good luck to everyone else. Too bad we all couldn't get together and walk somplace. Twice a week (time allowing in our busy work and wedding planning schedule) Ha Ha, I think that would help with all our venting, ideas, and getting healthy all in one swoop. Just something to think about!!

Have you tried Jenny Craig? That is the diet where they give you the food. My friend started on it about 3 months ago and she has already lost about 25 pounds.

READ THIS - Take it from me - Do not stress!!

As a plus size girl since birth my whole life has been a huge diet - by now you would think I would be skinny! What I have found is that the more you stress about it and put pressure on yourself the worse you do. The best thing for you to do is relax, eat healthy, work out and do not worry about it!! Your mind plays a big role in all this. Also your attitude is very important - if you are happy and feel beautiful - you will look gorgeous no matter what size you are!! I have many obsessed skinny friends that are so stressed about food and exercise and their attitude is so negative (they never think they look good enough) and that attitude makes them unattractive! I too am trying to lose A LOT of weight before my wedding and I got very stressed about it four months ago and since then have lost only 5 lbs, but now that i have calmed down I am starting to feel better and lose more! It is truly amazing how our minds effect our physical appearance! You will be beautiful no matter what and you can always vent to me - I`ve been through it all and on every diet known to man-kind (weight watchers, nutra-system, jenny craig, herbal life, atkins, etc. etc. etc.). This is supposed to be the best time of our lives - we are in love with someone else but we need to also be in love with ourselves!! Good luck!

I agree with Jennifer A

Ladies, Do not put so much pressure on yourselves, I speak from firsthand experience as a person who had battled an eating disorder fueled by an ex-husband who always thought and verbalized that I was fat. Remember you FI's love you for WHO you are NOT your dress size. Be happy.. this is the most important and special time of your lives..Let your beauty shine.. Best wishes Michelle

Christine - it's true you are not alone!

Since I met my Fi, I gained 30 lbs. When we got engaged in Dec. 99, I swore I would take off all the weight before the wedding - well, suffice to say the wedding is 16 days away and all I have lost in over a year is 5 lbs. I have been so upset with myself since not even my own wedding day inspired me to get back to my 'skinny' self - how pathetic is that?!?! But you know what, my dress looks beautiful - and I know that we will all be gorgeous beautiful brides on that day. I also know now that my Fi, loves me whether I am fat or skinny - the same way I would love him either way. I have accepted now that I will be heavier at my wedding than I ever wanted to be but I am so truly happy and so in love with my Fi and cannot wait to be his wife and get past this wedding and start LIVING our lives together that the weight doesn't matter! So, my honeymoon pictures will be 'fat' pictures - I will be with my best friend in the whole world, my Fi...so please know that there are plenty of us in the same boat and we are all here for you - just don't make yourself sick before your wedding worrying about this. Follow the sensible advice of eating right and adding some excersize and just relax if you can!

Please Read This....(LONG)

I know how many of you feel. I gained about 50 lbs in my first year of college. It was very hard for me and took me nearly 2 years to lose the weight (most of it.) I am not as skinny as I use to be, by no means. I am SO much happier the way I am because I have curves now. Now, I tried the whole diet pill root and honestly it may work while you are on them but the day you go off, you gain the weight back slowly. I know people get sick of hearing this, but they are SOOO bad for you. They interact with prescription meds and young become addicted to them (in some respect or another.) I would honestly consult your Dr because many of these pills contain stackers and actually speed up your heart rate mimicking a faster metabolism...this is a serious problems for those with early heart problems or genetic heart problems. I then began to accept who I was last semester at college...I am SO busy working full-time and majoring in Chemistry (full-time student.) I can say that I have very little time on my hands and learned that worrying about my weight only made me accomplish less in my life as an employee and student (sounds like a speech I know...) I stopped caring and actually was eating a lot of fast food (didnt have much time to cook and FI cooking would have caused an apartment fire :)!) Guess what, I lost 10 lbs!!! I know this sounds far fetched and difficult but I do admit I was walking a lot more because of the college life again (building to building practically running to the next class across campus!) I would say that they always tell you 30-45 minutes at one time...but I was doing 10 minutes spurts of a good fast pace and I think I was in better shape then going to the gym ( I belonged to the gym for 2 years and now live in an apt community with a fitness center.) I think my point is do SOMEthing you enjoy and don't stress about weight. The States are too in to the anorexic look and you would be surprised at the number of men that don't want that look. You are who you are and taking small steps is a great goal. Unless you starve yourself, you will not lose (healthfully) more than 2 lbs a week. As for the Carb free diet...bad news in the long run! I have heard good things about the Body for Life plan, and I know it follows the basic less carb plan. Just remember a calorie is a calorie no matter what you eat! I might also suggest Shape magazine because it has helped me learn some great things about fitness and weight. I hope no one thinks that I have been lecturing or anything...but I just feel that too many people want to be picture perfect. Remember when it comes to weddings...you invite the closest family and friends to have a good time and celebrate the everlasting love that you and your husband will share. They all know you and love you for who you are. Sorry if I am rambling, but I just wanted to offer support that I think many of us share the same common problems and something that I realized it to just forget about all the stress of fitness and eating right. ENJOY LIFE. It is too short...my father just died at 62, I am 21 and it hit me that you never know... Wish you all luck! Nancy

Christine - it`s true you are not alone!

I think everyone wants to look the best possible way they can on the big day. But everyone is right- they love us and will see right past it into our hearts. My Fi is a bit overweight also (we really will start to excercise together if it ever gets warmer) but when I look at him, I see his personality and not his body. Remember- they see that in you also. But I have to say I love Kitkats suggestion of getting together and walking. Can you picture all of us walking together... what a sight we would make!!

Weight Watchers

My mom has been on weight watchers and it is working wonders. I only wanted to drop a few pounds and I have been following along with the points diet at home. It works. Also, if you join weight watchers and go to the meetings, it keeps you motivated. It also helps you to eat healthy and your eating habits can change for life. The weight drop usually is not very fast. That's what helps it last. I have found that exercising right after work is a lot easier than doing it later. Try not to set unreachable goals for yourself though and remember that he is marrying you because he likes you...big or small.

Christine

I agree that your fiance no doubt loves you exactly as you are but I can also understand that you would like to feel good about how you look that day. You are getting married in 2 months and it`s a very emotional & exciting 2 months too. I`d hate to see you make yourself crazy with worry over a number on the scale during this wonderful time. The best thing you can do for yourself is eat 3 healthy meals a day and try to do some form of exercise at least 4x a week. For me, I have found the best food plan involves no snacking in between, but that`s how I am, also I know that if I have 1 piece of chocolate, I want the whole box. You didn`t sound like a 30 pound loss was your goal over the next 2 months but I know that even a 5 or 10 lb weight loss does wonders for the esteem. As for fittings, I started my fittings 1 month before the wedding and had my 3rd & final one 3 days before. I agree with everyone who posted about feeling good about yourself no matter what your size but it`s very hard to 'make that feeling happen' on command. Taking care of your body in a way that is positive, not just about quick weight loss is what helps that acceptance find it`s roots in our lives. Best wishes to everyone, many of us struggle with weight issues at one time or another (and sometimes for a very long time) and I can totally relate to many of the comments.

Leann- Thanks!!! kitkat

So......let's get walking ,To bad we all don't live around one another, but if we could think of a place that's a center for all, maybe it could happen. I know for a fact that it takes me anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour to walk 4 miles. (I walk fast, it's just my pace). So if we all come up with a location, you fiquire 20-30 min. travel time, the walk,...well that's better then sitting at home doing nothin, or watching TV. Like I said before, we should try to find the time during our busy, hectic lives. It worth a shot!!! I'm game!!!
