Ordering invitations online?
Has anyone ordered their invitations over the Internet. I've ordered many things, but I feel uncomfortable about this. I think because I need someone to hold my hand and make sure I don't forget anything. But it's hard to say no to the prices. We've gotten a quote from one place and on-line, the same invitations are $100 cheaper! But that's only if I didn't forget anything...Plus I'm worried about the old bait and switch...will I get the same invitation that I see in the store? Any comments?
Thanks everyone for all of your responses. The basket is almost done and the engagement(I'm so excited) is anyday. I'm finally getting the sister I always wanted!! Thanks Again....Gina :)

Watch that they give you the raised lettering. Sometimes those companies do flat printing like off of a computer printer/copier; it's not raised. If that doesn't matter, go for it. I preferred to hold it in my hand as well. I bought 100 invitations at Party Hardy for 199.00 for everything. They were in in a week. Some brides on here might have ordered on line. Wait and see what kind of responses you get.
Sounds great!!! I'm on this board all the time or you can e-mail me with any questions you might have. Dana was my contact at the Sancastle and it is my understanding that she moved to the Floral Terrace. Let me know who you're dealing with at the Sandcastle and if they were good so I can request them to manage the rest of the affair.
Thanks. Teresa

That's what I'm afraid of....it says "photolettering" like the ones in the store, but I won't know until I get them....also, mine have a vellum card, but will it be the same quality? I guess I', looking for some reassurance from someone who's done it...Thanks!

I think if there's a guarantee, you have less to worry about. I know many people who ordered throguh catalogs and were very happy. I as going to do that but my mom has a friend who is a printer and gave us agreat deal.
Also build in a little time so if you do have a problem, you have time to fix it.

Also, try to request a sample before you order. This way you can touch it and make sure it is the quality you are looking for before you place the order. Most companies are willing to send a sample - especially when you're ordering by mail or online.
Good Luck Teresa

I definetely agree that you should request a sample before purchasing if you do it on line. The paper quality can vary greatly and also the printing can be different. Also the invitation options and wording for all of the seperate items can be tricky.
Alot of on line stores will give discounts on name brand invites but many local vendors will match or beat any price and it is always nice to be able to flip through the books yourselves and ask any questions that you may have in person. Either way be sure and see a sample and make sure there are no hidden charges either way...and have fun with it!

Find out if the internet company will send you a sample of the invite you want. Alot of the wedding/bridal sites have lists of the items you "should" get (Response cards, direction cards, programs, et cetera). Go over the check lists, and figure out what it would come to for what you want. Then go to Party Hardy, or another store that has invitations - preferrably one that does give a discout. I was originally going to order from The Precious Collection - either by mail or internet (they offer a complete money-back guarantee if you don't like them for any reason). Once I did the price comparison, I went with Party Hardy (thanks for the tip :) it was great!).
If you don't know which invitation you want, most printers will let you borrow the BIG BOOKS for a day or so if you give them a deposit. Like everything else you'll be ordering, shop around. I went to two different printers to price my invitations, and the prices for the same invitations were different (one was $25 more for the same quantity).
