couscous! It's always my go to side when I can't think of anything else

hmmm interesting, i never think to make it. I think i wanna try to.

I usually make rice and beans, mashed potatoes or i love peas, when i cant think of anything. Well if it was up to me i could have a side of pasta in marinara sauce with anything lol

Or what about sauteed spinach, i love it and so does DH.

We're not spinach people.
This week so far we had rice one day and pasta the other.

DH has learned that pasta and rice are perfect sides for anything.

hahahaha i agree with him, pasta and rice are perfect sides. My mom also makes this great rice with tomatoes, mushrooms, green peppers and a bunch of other stuff, i have to get the recipe.

OHHHHH i cant believe i forgot about this but DH LOOOVES this side dish, but what about Polenta?

its made from cornmeal, add a little water or some recipes with butter, it depends bc some even put cheese in it. Theres even polenta recipes with mushrooms and other stuff. But with regular polenta you use the cornmeal and water, butter but the only thing with polenta is that you have to continuously stir it, you cant just leave it. If you dont do it right it can be clumpy.

Here i looked up pics for you bc youve probably seen it before. Here is how it looks when its creamy

here is how it looks when its a little less creamy

Re: Quick side dish for Chicken Cutlets?

Ohhhh yeah I have seen it. That looks sooo yummy! I am going to try it over the weekend. Hopefully DH will eat it bc he hates anything that is similar to mashed potatoes. He claims his mom overfed him M.P.'s growing up and he's traumatized. I on the other hand love mashed potatoes and anything like it.

It's so easy. I like the garlic and olive oil one.

yeah if you want look on the foodnetwork.com and see which polenta recipe you like best, you can do the regular one or they have with parmesan cheese, mushrooms and many more. The only thing to remember is that you will have to stir the whole time.

Growing up my mom made polenta all the time, dh likes it just the regular way. But when I was younger, my mom would make soft polenta and then while its still very hot you put sour cream in it, soft boiled eggs, a little bit of butter and cheese in it, SOOOOO GOOD but probably so fatty though lol. I havent had this in forever, usually now i eat just regular polenta. I think i want this soon lol

You're right...it's cornmeal. This restaurant we love used to have an appetizer that was polenta with shrimp and gorgonzola cheese...soo good. We were so disappointed when it we didn't see it on the menu anymore.

How about a baked potato...white or sweet?

DH really likes McCain frozen seasoned potatoes. I feel bad that it's so easy to make them, but he loves them!

Re: Quick side dish for Chicken Cutlets?

I like the Knorr pasta sides... used to be Lipton...

It's just a pakcage of noodles with sauce, throw in the sauce pan with whatever they tell you (usually milk and butter) and voila... side dish for chix cutlets.

I love these, too! I didn't think anyone else would even know what they were LOL. The one with the spinach and regular noodles in the Alfredo-like sauce... OMG I could eat 5 packages all by myself!!!
