OHEKA’s legacy of spectacular celebrations dates back to 1919, when the estate was created for financier and patron of the arts Otto Hermann Kahn. Today, couples can celebrate surrounded by the glamour and grandeur of Long Island’s historic Gold Coast.

Indoor & Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies
Couples may exchange vows in OHEKA’s magnificent Formal Gardens, weather permitting, with the château creating a spectacular backdrop for the ceremony and wedding photos. An indoor ceremony option is also available in case of inclement weather.
The estate features an impressive selection of event spaces, including the Grand Ballroom, Formal Dining Room, Terrace Room, Formal Gardens, Upper Lawn, Upper Great Lawn, and Great Lawn.
For larger celebrations, the Terrace Room can accommodate up to 350 guests for a seated dinner, making OHEKA an exceptional choice for elegant and grand Long Island weddings.

1.Tell us about some of the wedding packages you offer?
We hold one wedding per day at OHEKA Castle so it allows us the opportunity to personalize each event to the needs of the Bride and Groom. We can do a wedding ceremony either outside in front of our Formal Gardens or if in the last minute there is inclement weather we can quickly move the ceremony in doors in the Otto Kahn Ballroom.
2.What makes your location unique and special?
OHEKA Castle is an historic estate built in 1919 and is unique because it is the second largest private home in the United States. Couples can spend the day at the estate. The bride can meet her hair and makeup artist, get ready and take photos throughout the day if they so choose. Even if ceremony is not being held at OHEKA the Bride and Groom can get dressed at the estate. In addition, we have 32 hotel rooms located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the estate available to the guests of the Bride and Groom to reserve on the day of their wedding giving our Bride’s and Groom’s the feeling that they are hosting their wedding in their very own castle. Our special Platinum Breakfast is a wonderful opportunity for our Bride’s and Groom’s to enjoy a hot breakfast the day after their wedding with their friends and family who spent the night at OHEKA.
3.Tell us why you decided to go into the wedding industry.
The wedding industry can be very stressful and is a lot of hard work but you get to meet and work with so many wonderful and interesting people. Most importantly you get to be a part of something so amazing. You are helping someone’s dream come true. It is one of the most important events in their lives and they have chosen you to be a part of their dream. What more can you ask for?
4.Tell us about some of the most unique events you’ve hosted?
We have had so many unique events at OHEKA. Joey Fatone had a carnival with rides and a concert as an after party for his wedding. One of our brides was featured on Bridezilla and we have a future bride who will be featured on Platinum Weddings. One Bride and Groom rented the entire estate for a destination weekend event. There has also been a medieval and masquerade themed wedding at the estate. Many weddings also have unique after parties, such as a Moroccan theme, Jazz hour or Club O (which stands for Club OHEKA) and that is more of a night club theme. The options for after parties are endless.
5.How far in advance should a couple start looking for and book their catering hall?
It depends on the couples priorities. If they have a specific date in mind than it is always best to start looking at venues as soon as possible. If they are working with a budget and are flexible in their wedding date they can get a better price if they book within 6 months or less of their date than if they book a year or two in advance. They can also get a better price if they hold their wedding in off season such as in January or February where they could save $20,000 to $50,000 on their entire wedding when most vendors can offer better pricing than they could if they booked their wedding on a Saturday in June. I also recommend going to the venues in person rather than shopping over the phone or by email since there are many variables that go into pricing and available dates change on a daily basis. This also means that a bride and groom are more likely to get better pricing in person.
6. How can you help couples “customize” their special event?
An event can be customized with the menu options, the wedding cake, the décor, linens, china, lighting, flowers, etc. There are so many creative options available today that can truly make any vision that our client has come to life.
