My 6/25/10 wedding featuring the Surf Club, Bridal reflections, Dazzling Affairs, S1lverf0x, spotlite video, Alessandro from voices, royalty limos, thomas knoell,and much more....

I am so super excited to post this review, as it was 2 years in the making and there are a ton of details…
LIweddings.com- A+
I love this website. Honestly, I met the most amazing girls here, and it was nice to know that other girls were going through the same wedding dramas that I was experiencing. The girls here have given and helped perfect my ideas,they got me addicted to Ruelala, Etsy and Jillian Michaels lol, and I had the opportunity to make some awesome friends. This is a great resource for brides and I'm happy someone actually took the time to create this site. Thank you Client Services!!!

Riu Palace, Riviera Maya, Mexico A++++
I loved the way my fiancé proposed. We went to the Riu Palace in the Riviera Maya. I loved that resort so much. It was the perfect all inclusive: food was great, beaches were perfect and the service was MAGNIFICANT!! FH proposed to me while I was taking pictures in a gazebo on the beach. He may have under-hand threw at me, but it was the best proposal story in the world. I recommend the Riu Palace to anyone, whether for a proposal, romantic getaway, and time away with the girls & course for a honeymoon.
Novita Wine Bar Trattoria, Garden City, NY-Engagement Party- A+
What can I say about Novita that is bad? Nothing! Everything for our eparty was fantastic. We had our party on a Saturday afternoon. It was a simple cocktail party with an open bar and noshy food. But the food was to die for. I frequent Novita, and when we got engaged I knew that Novita was the place for our eparty. My guest loved everything about this place, and the staff is wonderful. They shut the restaurant down for us for the afternoon, and let us set up a lounge of sorts for our party. My guest enjoyed it so much that they go there for happy hour and for dinner. Pricing is competitive and the service is perfect.

Save the Dates-Magnet Street- A
Us Postal Service- C
We did our engagement pictures with Franco from **********, but I’ll get to that later. Our wedding was black tie and we wanted something that would represent who we are and what our style is. We chose a black and white silhouette of us with a black border. Needless to say, we still get calls about how CLASSY the magnet came out. It has a sort of Film Nior vibe, and we love it. And the price was unbeatable. Now the post office on the other hand; I would say about 20 people did not receive them. They were never returned to us nor were they ever delivered. After complaining, apparently they got lost. Interesting…
This is the picture we used

Invitations- Francesca and Diana from Dazzling Affairs- A++++++++++
I LOVE my invites. I had an idea of what I wanted and after endless headaches and back and forth nonsense with other vendors, I felt so stressed. So I just went to my 2 favorite people in the whole wide world. Francesca and Diana are so creative. I knew I wanted to incorporate a peacock feather and my fiancé knew he wanted some crystal. So using the colors from our wedding, Francesca and Diana helped us create custom invites from our imaginations. And we saved money, headaches and believe or not Postage! My invites made such an impact on people. My guest loved them and loved the classy vibe it portrayed. And the diamond white matched my gown perfectly!

Cake Cutter, Knife, Server, Champagne toasting glasses- Francesca and Diana from Dazzling Affairs- A++++++++++++++
I love them. I do. Best vendor in my book. And the pieces are everything we wanted.

Thomas Knoell-Jewelry, Headpiece, Bridesmaids gifts, and Grooms Cuff Links- A++
I love this man. His jewelry is gorgeous. It’s all Swarovski crystal, and while this can get expensive, he wasn’t terribly expensive. My head piece is stunning and matched my Casablanca lilies in my centerpieces, as well as matched my dress perfectly. The bracelet and earrings complimented my dress as well, and I love the fact that bracelet is cuff like. My bridesmaids received gorgeous art deco-esqe chandelier earrings, and my maid of honor received the same earrings and the matching bracelet. He even created a less dramatic pair for my 10 year niece! The cuff links are from his new collection of men’s cufflinks, and I love the fact that my fiancé has his crystals on his sleeve. I think he was worth every penny. Its jewelry you will definitely wear again and will last you a lifetime.

Movado Outlet Store, Woodbury Commons- Groomsmen gifts, and grooms watch-A+
My fiancé was determined to get his groomsmen watches, and he wanted to get them ESQ’s. This brand is actually made by Movado. He was able to get each one a watch that was dressy and classic, including his 12 year old nephew. What does my fiancé purchase for himself? A diamond embezzled Movado watch. But the price is always right over there and they do have fantastic sales.
Seventh Street Café, Garden City- My Mad Hatter Tea Party Bridal Shower A+++
Miss Mad Hatter, Etsy-My mad hatter hat A++++ BEBE for my Tea Party Dress ++

First and Foremost, my shower was AMAZING! My Mom and my sister listened for once lol. My sister knew I was very untraditional and wanted something that was fun and lively rather than boring and typical. And I didn’t want a surprise. My sister created the invites from images of a book about Alice in Wonderland, and told the guest to “don their best hats”… after all this was a mad hatter tea party! So I turned to Etsy for a creative and different hat. And sure enough, Miss Mad Hatter had it! It was a burlesque wedding hat, with a white ostrich feather. My White tea party dress and pink belt are from Bebe.

Seventh Street Café has amazing food! After all, I believe they are owned by the Scotto Brothers (fox hollow???!!!) They served a spiked punch and it was delicious! The salmon was to die for, as well as everything else. My sister and my mother decked out the room with mismatched teapots with flowers and playing cards, and flamingos! The menu’s showed another scene from Alice and wonderland, and my fondant cake was unbelievable and tasty! Complete with Alice’s blue bow may I add! My mother did the favors, a tealight in a little teacup, from Beaucoup, with ribbon from Sandy’s Party Supply (Franklin Square). My sister in law made chocolate playing cards, while my other sister in law created a memory book and wreath of advice. Of course, my aunts made cookies, as well my mother in law. And everyone wore a hat! And it was perfect!

Jakobs Jewelry, Island Park, NY-Wedding bands, and Flower girl and Ring Bearer Jewelry A+
What a sweet man! I love my wedding bands and we selected charm necklaces for the little ones. Beautiful, fine craftsmanship. And he really loves his work. And he engraved our dates for us in our wedding bands as well. He is a real pleasure to work with and works with you on price.

Rehearsal Dinner- Luau at FMIL- Food and Décor A+/ Grooms Cake- Gaby’s Cake Design A+++
We originally were going to have our rehearsal dinner at my parents, but DH’s mother insisted on having it at her home. She is one of the finest chefs I know, and can cook any culture and make up dishes that are to die for. Sausage and peppers ala Hawaii, Hawaiian pork, inspired salads, cocktails etc. The back yard was transformed into a Luau space, and even the inside of the Jacuzzi room and dining room were spruced up to give it a Hawaiian vibe. Everyone wore inspired clothing, as well as lays, and it was a wonderful time!
Gaby’s cake design is amazing! My Grooms Cake was everything I wanted. My husband is a contractor, so I wanted a cake that represented his passion. Atop a chocolate fondant hardwood floor, rested a dewalt carrot cake, with a rice crispy bottle of suntan oil, a bottle of creatine, and a “to do” list. My husband was so surprised and impressed that he didn’t want to eat it. I highly recommend Gaby and think her prices and her work are phenomenal. Definitely one of the best groom cakes I have ever seen.

Day of Weather A+++++++++++++++++

A comfortable 80 degrees and sunny. Who would have thought!!??? We got so lucky!!

Wedding Day Beauty:
Nails- Frasada Salon and Day Spa, Oceanside A+++
Hair- Carmela at Salon DiCapelli A++++
Makeup- Sandra Baldini A++++

Nails: I have an issue with fake nails, as the glue causes an allergic reaction. HOWEVER, the nail technician at Frasada did such an amazing job and I love my nails! And they last!!! And very price friendly too!!

Hair: Carmela is a GENIUS! All I need to say. She did such a great job on my color, cut and of course day of hair. She is super talented and creative. Everyone loved my hair on my wedding day. And the best part is it stood together until 5 AM!!!! She is wonderful! A definite go to for Hair!!

Makeup: Sandra Baldini is also a sheer phenomenon! Loved my smokey eye, and I love the fact that through this whole process she was extremely calming and soooo friendly. I loved my eyes! They made my brown eyes look EXOTIC!!! I had issues with another makeup artist, but Sandra Baldini made up for it, and she was a pleasure to work with! I will probably use her for events to follow and I recommend her to everyone.

Dresses- Bride, Bridesmaids, and Mothers- Bridal Reflections A+ for Bride, A- for BM’s and moms
I loved my dress! It may have made me nutty and make me diet like crazy but it was certainly worth it! I had the opportunity to work with both Carle Place and Massapequa. What I like about Bridal Reflections is the fact that they really do have a nice selection of gowns, plus I do love the staff. They even comforted me during one of my bridal melt downs lol. The end result was perfect.
My mermaid trumpet dress was a Simone Carvalli 7082, and I purchased it during a trunk show they had at Bridal Reflections. I tried on 5 other dresses, for the sake of trying them on, and I knew that 7082 was MADE for me. Trunk shows are the way to go. You save money and you can see the dresses before they really hit the stores. My dress was purchased at Bridal Reflections, Carle Place

My Bridesmaid dresses are Lazaro 3981, and I loved the fact that they channeled Rita Hayworth. They were a-line, so it flattered all shapes, with a sweet heart neckline. What I loved most about the dresses was the color. It was a midnight blue or ink as they call it, and in certain lights shimmered black. These dresses were purchased at Bridal Reflections Massapequa. The only thing is June especially is a busy month for weddings. A couple of my girls went late for their fittings, therefore the alteration was rushed and there was a simple mistake made. However, this is not entirely bridal reflections fault, as my bm’s should have went when we all went. And they didn’t try the dress on upon pickup because they went the day before the wedding. My advice is to tell your BM’s to go the 1st week of the month of your wedding (4 weeks before) and pick up a week before and try the dress on there.

My mother and my mother in law purchased their gowns at bridal reflections in Massapequa as well.
Flower Girl Dresses, Tri County A+
I can’t say how resourceful tri-county was. I was able to find flower girl dresses I wanted there that were 10 times cheaper than buying them at a bridal salon. The dresses were perfect. We also were able to purchase there hair wreaths there.

Wedding Day Shoes: Martinez Valero, on Zappos A+
I loved my shoes!! The curve of the bow with Swarovski’s matched my dress and they were super comfy! And Zappos is the way to go when ordering shoes. I got them reduced!!!!

Veil, Barrons in Tri-County A+
I didn’t want to wear a veil. But since I am Italian and I had no choice, I went to Barrons. Most Veils in Bridal Salons are super expensive and I refused to spend that kind of money on a veil. At Barrons, I was able to get a veil with Swarovski Crystals for under $160. And it was quality. And I actually ended up liking my veil.

Di Re’s Tuxedo, Franklin Square A-
I have known the guys over at Di re’s for a long time, so when we got engaged, we decided to go with who we know the best. They did a great job and the tuxes looked great! My husband wore a pin stripe Ralph Lauren tuxedo with a white vest, and the groomsmen wore I believe Calvin Klein tuxedos. The only problem they had with the tuxedos was that upon pick up, 2 tux jackets got mixed up, because there were 3 guys with the same name in the bridal party… but the end result made a world of difference.

Francesca and Diana- Dazzling Affairs A++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dazzling Affairs is my favorite vendor EVER. What would I have done without Francesca and Diana!? Literally they were holding my hand throughout this whole thing and I don’t think I could have planned anything without them! Francesca and Diana did my invites, my scrolls, my menus, my seating chart,my petal cones, my accessory ordering, and handled my husband!!! Francesca assisted me day of and Diana was with my husband. Francesca diverted 2 panic attacks, fixed stains and dresses, organized my vendors and got me and the girls out the door on time for pictures. She handled the envelopes for tips, gathering people for pictures and so much more. I don’t think I ever recommended a vendor as often as Dazzling affairs! And I literally feel like Francesca and Diana need their own show or something. They make the best team! Professional in all sense of word and really just awesome to be around. If you want contact info, FM me. I think if you are considering a wedding planner of day of, than you need to work with Dazzling affairs. Bottom Line; They are the best.

Spotlite Video Productions, Vinny and his team A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
His music video which of” day of highlights” was the best I have ever seen and it’s not because it was my wedding either. Literally the best I ever saw. We had to answer emails and texts and calls the next requesting the website for the video. People were in awe of it. I am super happy and very pleased we went with him. He has a talent and it shows. I highly recommend him. Check out my video as well as others at his website http://spotlitedigitalvideo.com/id67.html
S1lverf0x photography,Franco and Steve A++++++++++++++++++++++++
We were very happy with the work that was produced, and absolutely love our wedding pictures! Franco worked with us on our engagement shoot, which we did at Jones Beach. The picture from our save the date is one of the pictures we really love. Franco is fun and creative, and he was punctual and a blast to work with. On the day of the wedding, Franco was with me and Steve was with Joe. Franco listened and gave my Italian Vogue-esqe poses and pictures, as Steve took my husbands points of views and created beautiful photos. The 2 work well as a team and bounce off of each others creative stand points. What I like is we have 2 different perspectives when it comes to our pictures, and we love it. Its not monotone and boring; the photo’s a visibly appealing and capture the moments the way we were hoping they would. They did a fantastic job!

Royalty Limo, Bentley and 2 escalades A+

Enrique is the best chauffeur! Ok, so Royalty has gotten some slack on the boards, but all I can say is they were great! On time, clean, presentation was on point. Just plain wonderful. The Bentley was worth every penny. They even sent us a limo for the ride to our hotel after the wedding and a party bus (that we requested, but they wouldn’t guarantee because of prom season) for our bridal party and family. Girls who book Royalty really don’t have much to worry about. Yes, they are very stern about things in the office, but once the drivers are with you the day of, you realize this is quality service.

Old Westbury Gardens A-
Holy dear God they are expensive! But that’s the price you pay when you want beautiful pictures. The only thing is they only let you go to 3 locations and you need to preselect them when you send the form and of course money to them. And you only have an 1 and a half hours to take your pictures. However, it’s worth it. This is where they filmed Cruel Intentions and I loved the fact that the grounds have so much history. The statues gave the pictures a gothic appeal. Love how my pictures came out and I recommend it if you have money left over in your budget.

Westchester Floral, New Rochelle – Danny A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
They were one of our favorite vendors. Danny is the best guy you will ever meet. Go there, show him your ideas, tell him your budget, and he will give you ideas unlike you have ever seen or heard. When I told him Ostrich and Peacock, and crystals, and not to many smelly flowers, he hit the nail on the head and gave me classy, old Hollywood glamour inspired works of art. Roses and Casablanca lilies with ostrich feather high and low centerpieces; creamy roses and ostrich feather bouquet for me and the same minus the ostrich and replaced by peacock for my maid of honor, and roses with blue wrapped stems for my BM’s; matching boutonnieres for the groom and groomsman. Plus Danny decorated the cake and brought it to life! Danny and Westchester Floral are fantastic and really do a great job.

NY Nights Entertainment A+
This company is actually owned by one of my husbands closet friends. They always do a great job; music, plasma’s, uplighting, and drums the works. And they have a blast doing “zap” shots of the guest… they get a little creative. All in all, they are great.

Alessandro from voice A+++++++++++++++
There is so much I can about this man that is positive. If you are looking for a crowd (primarily woman) pleaser, BOOK HIM! Alessandro sang the entrance songs for my ceremony, and performed the most romantic version of con te partiro that it gave me shivers. During the reception he literally swooned the woman with his il divo vocals and handsome good looks. My bridal party was obsessed with him. I definitely will be using him in the future for other parties and I am so happy we booked him. He sang Italian pop too which is truly amazing!!!!!!! He was that good!

Surf Club, New Rochelle A+++++++++++++++++++++++

I loved our Hall. Like with any wedding planning, there was drama behind some of the planning with them, but in the end, they literally gave us the best wedding. The renovations came out PERFECT and my guests were blown away with everything! The double staircase, the grand ballroom, the ceremony site, the patio for cocktail hour, everything! My ceremony took place at the surf club, and we had it in the Gazebo located right before the beach starts. My entrance included coming down a flight of stairs (dramatic) and walking down an aisle with freshly prune bushes and flowers along the side. The scenery was beautiful and there were swans! (And geese, but who cares). From there, my guest enjoyed a lavish cocktail hour with the works! Martini bar, wine bar, cheese, meat, bread, fruit, and more, sushi chefs, fresh pasta and ice sculptures and a cheese (maybe wax?) sculpture!!

The reception was wonderful too, including a theatric (and funny) champagne march, wines, top shelf open bar, perfectly decorated tables, amazing menu choices and just impeccable service!

VH was great too! I had what I think was a mallomar on a stick and if it was than I died and went to heaven b/c that is my favorite! There was Ice-cream, cakes, cookies, fruit, wedding cake and sparklers. It was over the top.

To any girl contemplating the surf club, here is my advice: work with Jamie for a banquet manager. He is super cool, detail oriented and knows his stuff. And as much as everyone says it, Chris is very stern, but he needs to be because he is the maitre d for all the weddings. Just listen to him, take his lead and I can promise you that he will offer you something worth your while. And Artie is a sweetie and honestly, work with him if you can. He is very helpful and informative as well, and so creative. I highly recommend my hall.

Wedding Cake- Sweet Lisa’s Bakery- C
This is the vendor that the Surf Club uses for their cakes. While I had a Nutella/Banana filled wedding cake, I could not enjoy my cake because it was butter cream. The surf club told us that the bakery would charge us more for fondant, after we sat with the surf club and picked our cake. However this is not the surf clubs fault as the baker never advised them of the charges. So lactose intolerant me had to scrape the butter cream off my cake before my husband and I fed each other. I tried to get over this, but what made me very upset, and thank god the florist covered it, was that the butter cream started to turn yellow from being out for so long. In the pictures it not noticeable, but my husband noticed and so did several guest. Also, the butter cream looked sloppy and looked like a rushed job. There was nothing to be done about it but the flowers were able to cover the flaws that the butter cream was producing. The only good part of the cake was the Nutella. I was not happy with the cake and unfortunately could not enjoy it like I wanted to. Thank Goodness for décor!

Allegria Hotel, Long Beach-B
Normally, I rave about this place for its lounge and restaurant. The food is so good there. But I have to say that wasn’t too impressed with the rooms in the hotel. Number one, our air conditioner was broken in our room. And the toilet handle was broken. But the bed was comfy and the room service was tasty. I had a little issue with the fact that they wouldn’t extend our stay an hour since we arrived there so late. But hey it happens. It’s good enough for a wedding night hotel room. At least the scenery is nice too.
Honeymoon- Maui and Kauai, Hawaii Hyatts – see below

This was a fantastic honeymoon. My husband and I knew we wanted to do Hawaii since we first started talking about marriage! So when we booked, we went to our travel agent and she suggested Maui and Kauai for a 2 week honeymoon. So we said sure book it.
United Airlines no rating because it is what it is.- I hate flying. I hate flying domestic especially. They charge you for everything. Its stupid!!! The ride was like any other; uncomfortable and long. I slept.
The Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, Maui, C-

OK the grounds are beautiful. BUT this is not a for a honeymoon couple especially in the summer. Why? Because there is too many KIDS! I love kids. But when I was there to relax and drink and enjoy silence that didn’t happen!!!!! I had kids were splashing, jumping, knocking down drinks and being animals! And then the bird problem. There is an outdoor café that serves good food, but you can’t enjoy it because there are BIRDS that come onto your table and annoy the sh*t out of you. And than the service is not on point. They didn’t care we were honeymooning. They gave us a Short bottle of champagne, a cheesy photo album and that’s it. No lei greeting or congrats; nothing. But if you have kids, well you’re good to go. We spent most of the time away from the resort and going out to eat because it was that obnoxious. Maui is very commercial now and to be honest with you, I think if we stood at a different resort we would have had a better experience. We had a better time touring the island, trying new things and staying on the beach. Maui is a great island to visit. My travel agent sends couples there all the time, and they never had this problem… maybe because school is in session?
Go to theluau drums of the pacific; its amazing and do the helicopter tour (the hour 1) at Maui Air. Unbelievable. And definitely go to whaler’s village and shop. And eat at Sonza’s. The best sushi you will ever eat and I’m not lying.

But that’s ok because Kauai made up for it

Hawaiian Air- D
Propeller plane. Loud. Noisy. Scary. No thank you.
The Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa Kauai A+++++++++++
What lacks at one makes up in the other that’s for sure. We arrived at the hotel , were greeted with leis, and friendly front desk staff and it was over all an amazing experience. The staff was fully aware we were honeymooning and made everything perfect for us! They even upgraded us to an ocean view room. We were given a nice size bottle of champagne, free bottles of water (roughly a case), turn down service with chocolate every night, butler service on the beach and poolside, and the food at the hotel was fantastic. There was even a prime rib night (my husbands favorite night). The hotel itself was screaming romance and tradition, yet remaining very sophisticated. We went on a catamaran that took us on a 4 hour tour of the Na pali coast, with it water falls… but this is an insane boat ride, and people were getting sick left and right because the swells are huge in Kauai. Not good if you’re a bad boater. I am proud to say, my husband and I and another couple were the only ones not throwing up. There are 2 shopping villages near the hotel, and there is a ton of art galleries. But the beaches are amazing, but you need be careful of the water. The water in Kauai is rough. Red flags are constantly up. The under tow is very dangerous and it will beat you up. Trust me. We went in 3 ft and we got overpowered by waves. But over all, if you go to Kauai, stay at the grand hyatt. Its worth the money.

Ok well that’s my review. I hope this helps you with your wedding planning…
