Anyone have LASIK surgery?

DH has had it done, one of my girlfriends from HS just had it done last week, and now I feel like everywhere I turn, I keep hearing more and more people talk about how they're had it done and it's the best thing they've done, etc. etc...

Soooo I just made an appointment for a consultation! But I super scaredyyyy

Any of you lovely ladies have this done? What can you tell me to alleviate my fears? or scare the crap out of me!!

I had it done. April will be 3 years. I was almost legally blind. My eye sight was 20/475 with an abnormal astigmatism. The full procedure was about 1 minute total and to this day I am 20/15. I have above-perfect vision. Life changing. I had 8 people I know go to the same surgeon. HE IS AMAZING!

i had it done in Israel about 4 years ago and i am very happy i did it.

it's a bit scary since you're fully awake the entire time but there's absolutely no pain whatsoever. It's a bit creepy to see the lasers and whatnot though ... but it's over in a minute total (ie: 30 seconds per eye).

one thing that's very annoying is that you feel like there's sand in your eyes until the following day ... and you can't touch your eyes at all. but it's just annoying, not painful.

yippyyyyy! two more testimonials!

i think that's the part that freaks me out the lost - that you're awake. But you both so it's so quick. It sounds like it takes longer to donate blood that it does to have the surgery. i'm so excited for the consulT!

It was 25 seconds for my right eye and 20 seconds for my left. Where did you make your consult???

no doubt about it ... when i say it was a minute total, i'm 100% serious ... it's not an exaggeration or whatnot.

as for being awake, it's a bit weird but everything is done so quickly that you don't really process what happened until later ... it feels like a weird dream

Re: Anyone have LASIK surgery?

I'm going to the LASIK Plus center in Paramus, NJ. That's where DH got his done, and our insurance company covers 15% of the procedure if we use them.

ETA: I've heard a lot of people recommend Diamond Vision also - AND they currently have a groupon going on!!! $2000 for the surgery (a $4000 value)... I just feel weird about doing it through groupon you know? lol

I did not qualify for lasik (because my corneas were too thin?) but I did qualify for PRK (the older and slightly cheaper eye surgery.) This surgery is a bit more annoying because they basically scrape at your cornea and it has to regrow but honestly I do not regret it at all. Sure it took longer to heal but I had HORRIBLE vision (had glasses since kindergarten). I now see 20/20 in both eyes.

I had PRK also. Very annoying healing, but still 100% worth it.

EXACTLY my thoughts... discount on a gym membership or canvas print? Sure! Laser EYE surgery? Mayyyyybeeeeeee not lol

But I'm also glad to hear that the other surgery types were successful also, just in case I don't qualify for the LASIK... then maybe I can do the other one instead.

My cousin had it done and she said it was one of the worst decisions she ever made...she now has a lot of trouble with night vision in one of her eyes and neither is corrected fully. If she had it to do again she said she wouldn't.
