My Sister Got a Sugarglider!
For her birthday from my mom. I just have to say it was all my brilliant idea. lol! Anyway, the thing is adorable. He's (*well, we think it's a he) is just under a year and was adopted from someone who can no longer care for him. His name is Taz since they are distantly related to Tasmanian Devils. He's so tiny but really active and not shy or scared at all. He was sniffing my hands and taking apples from my sister. We even got to see him glide!

ETA: After DH heard about them (and probably b/c he knew I was p!ssed off at him lol! I thought of you Celia!) said we could get one, too!

Haha yeah, he's pretty cool. Once they are a little older they are really affectionate and can be trained to do tricks and stuff. I can't wait to see more of him.
ETA: I know, the pictures look like we're holding a squirrel captive.

This one hurt a little bit- he bit my sister's b/f (who is in love with this thing, it's so cute) but didn't draw blood. And he only did it b/c the kid wouldn't let go of the apple he was feeding him.
That'll show him.Yeah- apparently they make tons of different sounds... they bark, they hiss, and they make this noise called 'crabbing' which sounds crazy. I don't even know how to describe it!

Jill I have a confession!

I actually also baked a cake for my sister and carried it over on my big heavy glass domed cake display plate. The thing was so heavy that I guess I carried it sort of sideways and the cake slid down the plate and got all jacked up. My aunt said 'Now that's a sugarglider.'
But to answer your question before- yupp they glide! But they don't have wings, they have sorta flaps of skin that open up under their arms when they leap. They're almost like flying squirrels.
This is what they look like midleap. lol!

ETA: And yes, they are supposed to be extremely affectionate once they get used to being handled. They actually suggest that you sleep with their pouch with you to get your scent on it before you put it in their cage. Then they know your scent. But I saw a video on YouTube of this one just stretching out getting a belly rub. lol! It was so cute.
