I thought this too but so many people have it.
I just quoted with VPI and the highest plan minus routine care came out to $36 a month. I'm thinking it might help putting that $36 a month to the side in case of emergency.

Re: Pet Owners
I have pet insurance! I didn't always have but I wanted to get it for the kitty. Well my parents greatly regretted it when he had to have a major surgery. We had to pay $2k out of pocket just for the surgery alone. This total didn't include x-rays, follow up visits, the initial office visit or medication. If we had the pet insurance we would have had to pay almost nothing for the surgery and medication. We learned our lesson the hard way! I have it now and get back at least $80 per office visit. All in all pet insurance is very helpful during an emergency!

If you don't mind me asking what company you're with, what plan and how much you pay??

Re: Pet Owners
I use VPI pet insurance and pay like $26 a month. It comes right out of my pay check so I don't have to pay and extra bills
