Flowerfield Review....June 16th 2012.
First let me start off with beginning. The engagement was a surprise and searching for a place to have the wedding was very annoying. Until we went to Flowerfield. My brother recommended it because he went to a wedding there.FLOWEFIELD This place is AMAZING. When we first got there we saw the place and died. After looking at other venues that just did not live up Flowerfield did.
First the Atrium is amazing and can seat around 230 I think. That was important for us because it meant that everyone could have a seat at cocktail hour. We then went into the main ballroom and that room took my breath away. It was just stunning. Once the room was decorated it was just amazing. My husband and I were able to see it before anyone else and all I was able to say was wow.
The Food was incredible. Everyone commented on how great the cocktail hour was. We all want their mac and cheese recipe. Dinner was also amazing. A nice thing is they let my husband and I take home one of each dish. The food was even good reheated.
The Staff! What can I say about them but amazing. We had Kerri as our Banquet Manager and she was so great. Anything we wanted she found a way for us to get. We even had a last minute add in and she had no problem handling it. Andy has to be the World's Best Maitre D'. He ran our wedding like a Broadway production. He went above and beyond for my husband and I. Every time I sat down he helped me in the seat. He made sure we had everything we needed. He also lighten up the mood when he saw the photographer annoying me. Everyone needs an Andy to handle their wedding. He is THE BEST.
WEDDING PLANNER: We called Meaghan Sinisi owner of Fruition Events. I called her my life saver. She handled all the little details from helping us with the flowers to creating the place cards. We liked the color navy and she found was to Incorporate that with other colors. She set up appointments and was there for every pep talk. She was able to calm me down and my mom. She made she the wedding day ran smoothly. I cannot say one bad thing about her because she was just wonderful. By the wedding I felt as if I had a new best friend. She truly loves what she does and it shows in her work. I would recommend her to EVERYONE.
Flowers: We used Lovin' Oven Floral Design and worked with Keyth! He is a genius. He asked what I liked and he made the most beautiful arrangments and everything. Going to his shop you see the water because it is right next to Land's End. His work is stunning., He makes you feel like your best friend and he really understands what everyone wants and helps guide you through. This guy knows his flowers. He schooled me. Everything came out beautifully. Flowers were so important to me and he helped create my vision.
The Cake: We stuck with Lovin' Oven and used Audrey's Bake Shop. This cake was soo good. We went simple and ordered a white cake with white chocolate and chocolate mousse. It was AMAZING. I also ordered a grooms cake from them too and my husband is still raving about it.
The Dress: I got my dress from Demetrios at Macy's in Manhasset.I loved it. We had a great experience there. When the dress was snug and I started crying the seamstress gave me a mother bear hug and calmed me down and said 'don't worry' and She was right. The dress was amazing and I couldn't imagine getting married in anything else.
The Tuxes: Sigh Men's Wearhouse. THEY GOT EVERY TUX WRONG. They told me that the tuxes are suppose to be the wrong size but honestly my Brother-in-law's pants were shorts and his sleeves were all wrong. He looked like Tiny Tim. The only good thing is they were able to fix it pretty quickly.
Bridesmaids and Flowergirls Dresses: I wanted the girls to be comfy but classic. I also did not want them to spend a lot of money and like most brides I wanted to let them wear the dress again. My first thought was to have them pick out their own dresses but after talking to my MOH, she convinced me that was a bad idea, so I picked the Dessy Twist Dress. This dress twists into different styles so each girl got to wear a dress that suited them. I also picked it in navy and short so they COULD actually wear it again. The dresses ran them about $180
We got the flower girl dresses at David's Bridal and it was so easy. We went in we bought them done. And the girls were just too cute.
Invitations and Save the Dates: We got our invitations from a woman named Joan Greenlaw. Her company is called Consolidating Printing. Her work is fantastic. She designed our invitations and we loved them. AMAZING!
Church: We got married in my church Our Lady of the Snows. It is a beautiful Church. The only hiccup was our priest. He is a family friend but from a parish out east. He thought the wedding was at 4 not two and was late. Other than that the wedding and the church was great.
Rehearsal Dinner: Our Rehearsal Dinner was at Park Place in Floral Park. It was so good. Everyone must try the Short Rib egg rolls. SOO GOOD!
Limos: We used Sir Oliver Limos. They were on time and even upgraded us to a Hummer. Great drivers and great service. Loved them.
Photography and Video: We used Glenmar Studios. They were fantastic. I worked with Joey Grecco and she is great and informative. I had Anna, who is the photo-journalist come to my house and she took great photos. We also had Rob doing the video and he made everyone laugh and made me feel very comfortable in front of the camera. my Husband got stuck with the problem. John was the regular photographer and his work is good but it just wasn't what I was looking for. I am not too keen on posed pictures or the weird 1980's photos. He took one of us watching ourselves kiss. I didn't like it. Another issue was he would take photos then show us like we were at a frat party. It was just annoying. I hate all the photos he took of the groomsmen. They are just forced and weird. Anna though omg beautiful photos. She knows how to make it look natural. Nothing felt forced with her and she didn't mind us having a good time. It just meant better photos. I love those candid happy moment photos and she delivered. I can't wait to see all our photos in the next few weeks.
DJ: We used Long Island Sound DJs. They are AWESOME, AMAZING and FANTASTIC! We had Scott as our MC and he kept everyone on the floor. The only time the dance floor was empty was when people ate. We also used their photo booth which was a HUGE hit. There was always a line and that was all people talked about. GREAT GREAT DJs.
Hair and Makeup: I got my hair done at Reflections on Hillside Ave in Floral Park. Teri did my hair and Gina did the girls hair. I wanted my hair down and she made it happen. Teri even showed up at Flowerfield to touch up my hair. She was great and my hair looks awesome. The girls hair looked amazing too. Gina is a pro and had them all out and beautiful.
Makeup was done by my bridesmaid Liana. Glamour by Liana. She is awesome. She put makeup on all the girls and one adorable and demanding flower girl. She made me look so amazing. She is also a licensed aesthetician so she really knows skin.
Overall Day: Overall the day was gorgeous! I am pretty sure my mom sold her soul to the devil for that day. This was honestly the best day of my life. Rob and I had a blast and that was the most important thing for us.
